It's kinda funny, when he said, "It feels like you're telling me my mechanics are shit" I felt that, because I'd been recommended to play Mundo/Garen for years and consistently took it as an insult. What, was I not good enough to play the 'cooler' more aggressive top laners I'd been trying to learn? Since watching Alois and working on my fundamentals exclusively on Garen/Mundo and going BACK to those more mechanical champions, I realise what an idiot I was. Fundamentals are just that. FUNDAMENTAL. They apply to every champion, no matter how mechanically complex. It doesn't matter if you can get 3 kills out of laning phase on a RIven because you're a mechanical god compared to your opponent, if you don't know how to influence wave states and transition your lead in terms of macro, your win % isn't going to increase no matter what. More than that, the higher you go, the less chance you'll have of gapping your opponent on mechanics alone. I can't tell you how many times I've had opponents with incredible mechanical skill who've outplayed me in fights, but who have thrown their lead by overstaying and missing their resets, or keeping the laning phase going and not transitioning their lead. Meanwhile Alois showed me when it's ok to die (during a heavy proxy, large wave pushed under their tower etc.) and how to maintain good CS/XP regardless of how my opponent plays, and my Mundo/Garen ends up being much more valuable despite requiring less mechanical skill. More than that, when I go BACK to champions reliant on mechanics, those macro habits help me EVEN MORE. I just couldn't learn them on those champions because mechanics ends up being a 'get out of jail free card'. It's something I've seen happen for years in the FGC where people never learn to play footsies because they only play hyper aggressive setplay/rushdown characters, but I'd never considered how that applied to League.
Always rated you Alois, our glorious pig emperor. I can’t describe how good you are at the game it’s insane. Please get the next Rioter on Shen so we don’t need an item to match Yuumi waveclear
Keeping track of junglers is hard even for junglers especially in low elo as a pretty effecient jungler myself I have seen enemy take weird illogical path take 4 or 5 minutes for there first clear.
1:05 - Yes, we noticed that there are very few TopLaners at Riot, because a lot of the changes that are made in the game are very often made without any consideration how it influences that lane and / or with wrong assumptions how it will impact that lane. Sadly for most of the last years it has been an absolute disaster for TopLane.
I agree with Alois, you should not have sett w on release. Rather you get used to it and you get a feel for it. Mostly the indicator will more off time you. Indicator is only good for certain harder hit box abilities like Veigar cage, to hit the edge of the cage.
@@nuknukisdead Nah, I don't agree. Sett W is much simpler. Veigar cage spawns from the middle of your cursor and the walls are quite far apart. To be able to land the edge exactly on someone fast is not as easy. Sure if you OTP Veigar, you will get good enough to do it by feeling. I don't have to OTP Sett to be able to hit clean W's with quick cast.
@ There's also the fact that veigar cage dosn't have to stun to land combo, if they are stuck in cage, you have a very high chance of landing veigar w and q ult. This is why it should be quickcast since even with the indicator, there is no guarantee of landing the stun simply due to the delayed stun.
Hey Alois, out of curiosity why is it 4 waves? Specifically 4. I understand 3 because of the amount of options and leverage you can get out of it. But the only thing I can think of specifically the 4th being so important is a bounce back otherwise it seems null. Mind elaborating for me?
He won't be able to hit Sett W if he doesn't move away from casting with indicator, much less indicator on press- that's actually disgusting. But to refocus on Sett W, It's an ability that you have to develop an intuitive feel for its hitbox to use it to its fullest extent. I would have advised him to go into the practice tool and just spend 5 minutes spamming Sett W on target dummies until he develops a feel for it. That will make his W usage 10x better than if he played 30 Sett games with his current sett-up. Also, now that you can take buddies into practice tool he can just grab a friend and practice on an opponent that is actually trying to dodge once he has a feel for the ability. These little drills will improve his gameplay much, much quicker than just trying to get a feel for it in-game.
Alois I think this coaching session was actually a psyop and he used this info to nerf top lane - the minion exp range, the cheaters recall (cannon on 4th now) we cant let the rioters know how we abuse these knowledge checks :(
anyone else notice that there were somehow 2 rioters who queued into each on opposite teams in the same role in solo q for the 4/1/17 ahri game? what are the chances? rioters would never snipe/boost each other right?
Riot uses more than what they say for matchmaking. That’s why if you never see a champ and you play said champ, you’ll then see it banned or picked in your next game or something.

As much as that would be sick, would be near impossibru to organise and Alois would need like 3-6 months to prep

Sett W is not too different than cage. Both don't hit instantly and have a narrow band you want to land. Honestly, both should be quickcast.
