I was a chain smoker. Stopped when I had a thrombosis in 2009. I went outside the hospital and smoked two cigarettes in a row, and threw the rest in the bin. It´s the best thing I´ve done to myself in my entire life. And if I had continued smoking, I guess I would be dead now, or at least in very bad shape. Now I´m in almost perfect shape and able to enjoy life. I can recommend others to stop smoking. Keep yourself alive instead of feeding rich shareholders.

I’ve tried to quit cigarettes and the only thing that worked for me is replacing them with vaping E-cigarettes, still not ideal but definitely a healthier alternative in my opinion. I hated walking into shopping centers, everybody would stand outside smoking and even when they were no there, it still stank of cigarette smoke, I was glad when they banned people from smoking outside the shopping center entrances.

Good for you. I smoked as a teen and bummed smoke when I used to drink in my 20s. It is very tough to quit coffee as I use it every morning to clear my fog and get things moving to make it out the door on time.

Congratulations, I know exactly how you feel. I quit in April of 2015 after being a heavy smoker for almost 40 years. Now I too can not stand the smell. I put up with it but annoys me the most when I'm in a place that clearly has signs posted "No smoking or vaping". Over here that is usually transit stops, parks, parking lots etc. and a lot of smokers ignore them.

There is part of me that is drawn to it, even though I never smoked regularly. This is probably related to some memories I'm not even consciously aware of. In my mind I know how bad it is. The really odd thing is, sometimes, when I'm working on something, especially on the computer, and I'm deep in thought, I'll catch myself reaching in my pocket for a cigarette. Then I realize what I'm doing and feel like an idiot. Not a craving or a desire for a cigarette, but a very long, ingrained habit that is still hanging around even after all these years. 😊
Great job it gets easier and easier after a year I smoked from age 15 till Oct 1st 2002 quit on spot when was told will cut my chest open in time was all I need to hear... I been doing good since only bad part now is put on 20 lbs I don't need seems can't get rid of it so making best of it.

I smoked for 27 years, in the end I was smoking two packs a day (60 cigarettes), I started losing interest in smoking, which I thought was strange, so I went to the chemist a purchased a pack of Quit Patches (anti-smoking patched), I sat on the back step at 3pm on the 21 July 2000 and smoked my last cigarette, I don't really thing the patches did anything, I think I was just ready to quit. I thought that I might have been lucky quitting when I did but after 15 years of being cigarette free, I was diagnosed with C.O.P.D, I was born with Asthma and Bronchitis, breathing and exercise was always an issue if i over exerted myself, but I was having more issues with my breathing as you said you noticed difficulty keeping up with Snoopy, Fortunately X-rays showed no cancer or emphysema, but there is signs of lung damage they say it was due to a life time of Asthma and Bronchitis made worse by heavy smoking. I have Asthma-COPD Overlap Syndrome, I am getting by, It was first diagnostic 9 years ago. My older brother passed away with lung cancer 30 July 2022, 6 weeks after his 70th birthday, he gave up smoking 10 before me, he was 5 year older. Giving up smoking is not easy, that is why so many fail, we who have given it up are survivors and should be proud of our selves.

Congratulations, my dad was told in 1969 that if he smoked another cigarette it would kill him. He stopped, even his pipes. His lungs cleared up Nd he died in 2002 age 86. Natural causes.
