A great resource to learn more about the "NH" vs "Ñ" pronunciation difference is from the Tá Falado podcast: www.coerll.utexas.edu/brazilpod/tafalado/lesson.php?p=19 It's a very subtle difference--Brazilians will 100% understand you if you pronounce it like the "Ñ". There are probably some parts in Brazil that do pronounce it that way, but this video was meant to show the typical pronunciation you're likely to come across. Obrigado! :)
the details you share are priceless. I live in Rio and struggle with Portuguese and your explanations are the most elaborate I've heard and i learned so much with one video. Thanks obrigado
I only had two years of Spanish at school. Now I have a Brazilian girlfriend and I'm still stuck on the Spanish pronunciation of some words. But, my girlfriend has to learn German first and I will learn/ pick up Portuguese from her.
Não vou mentir, adoro esses conteúdos sobre pronúncia correta em português. Adoro essa sensação que me traz, tipo: “nossa, essa pessoa REALMENTE está esforçando para se comunicar na minha língua!” 😃👍👏
Appreciate it Pablo, comments like these are my fuel for producing more content. Glad you found it useful and let me know if there's a topic you'd like to see me cover!
Thanks Indira, but I can't take credit for it--there are some great resources out there that do mention it, like the Tá Falado podcast and the amazing book Modern Brazilian Portuguese Grammar! :)
Kiitos, really illustrative and useful vido 🤩 You know how to make this easier for us. Muito obrigada, Andrew 💚 P.S. I’ve been suffering from ”withdrawal symptoms” since I haven’t gotten around to studying this wonderful language for a couple of weeks 😂

Awesome. I knew something nasal was happening with NH but wasn't sure* and Ive been in Brazil for 3 months 😂
Trust me, a lot of people never learn this!!! :)
@DecodingWordswithAndrew Thanks a lot! I already hear a difference in how I say NH and I'm in Brazil so a diminutive is used every few words 😄

You're a legend. As a Spanish speaker, the external view of both languages brings a lot of useful perspective to me. Keep up the good work.
