    What a great vintage amp is this. But believe me, I'm 54 years jong and also a vintage audio lover but your journey in audio land will never be over 😂

    Congratulations on owning one of Sansui’s finest amplifiers! A suggestion - when you remove the amplifier modules, check the larger capacitors for glue issues, and it may be prudent to remove any glue that is present as this will eventually corrode anything it comes into contact with. I have “been inside” several 907 Limited amps and this glue was present. And I wouldn’t consider redoing the heatsink compound or changing over to “silpads”, just check the tightness of the mounting/securing screws. My son and I have several “AU-Alphas” and they are simply Sansui at its best!!!

      Ah yes I forgot to mention the glue… Don’t think it’s an issue on this one from what I could peek but yes will address it if needed. Will see about the thermal compound when I get in there, approaching 30yrs old now, I do have concerns about it drying out though… 😊

    I have the Alpha AU-607MR(X) - X is the European 220/220V Version. I`m totally satisfied with the incredible controlled sound, especially the "amp direct" connect.
    I have also one of the biggest Sansui Amps, the AU-X 1111 mosVintage, a really fascinating and beautiful 36kg amp, but the alpha`s models are my personal favourites.

    That looks a lot like my Kyrocera A-910 I just did, with the driver boards and heatsinks flipped. I’m guessing the 4 trimmers on each board are to dial in the positive rail, negative rail, bias, and offset. Nice integrated.

      The Sansui Alpha X-balanced amps like the 907MR are complex beasts with a 'floating ground' design and sophisticated circuit design throughout. Truly high-end stuff. The schematics reveal all - there's a "+" and "-" amp stage per channel with one bias and offset trimmer for each of these amp stages, hence two bias and offset timmers for each channel.

    Those binding posts look to be WBT of Germany and they make very high quality ones like those that can be costly. My Onkyo Integra A-929 have them. Looking forward to more videos on this unit!

    Bardzo dobry wzmacniacz, choć uważam że AU-9500 gra zdecydowanie lepiej ma bardziej naturalne brzmienie. Poza tym jeszcze lepsze granie można mieć z AU-70 czy 1000A

    Looking at just how much is in here it's kinda insane that you can buy this amp from japan for 'only' around 1500 usd. Sure after importing and shipping you'd be at like 2000 but you gotta imagine it would have cost close to that just to make!

    • @whatcouldgowrong7914
      @whatcouldgowrong7914  Рік тому +1

      I paid quite a bit for this pristine example but yes I agree, modern enough rival the best new amps on the market while having the engineering excess, cost is no object of times past… I used to think audio peaked in the 70s before the decline of the 80s but how wrong I was…

      907MR na rynku japońskim to ok 700-1000 usd. jest bardzo tani w zakupie.W Polsce sporo osób się "dorobiło" na tym wzmacniaczu :) Japończycy maja większe porównanie i niestety 907MR nie jest idealny aż tak bardzo jak go opisują

    Congrats - it's great to see another 907MR in Australia! I have a few 907s including the MR, XR, KX, DR and L Extra (plus three of the 607s) and they are beasts. The XR and MR are the creme de la creme though! I agree with you logic of not changing the Silmic Alpha Super Gold capacitors unless absolutely required - these things are constructed to a different standard than the 'garden variety' Silmic IIs and are enormous, and installing Silmic IIs would be a backwards step. The pedant in me notes that they are spelled and pronounced Sil"MIC" as opposed to Sil"MAC" :)
