So they called 911, got him to the hospital and he was there for a few days recovering. Lip gave Fiona so much shit for it and she kind of deserved it for letting that happen

This happens with everybody who was neglected during their childhood. Parents should give their children all the love they need. When they are happy, they should be happy for them. When their children are sad, they should cheer them up. That’s how they would develop coping mechanisms. Lip didn’t have a chance to develop coping mechanisms. So, the only coping mechanism he could think of is alcohol (because of his father)
