The 997 is the best generation of the water cooled cars. The bore scoring issues killed the values of the regular cars, but the halo versions all used the Mezgher and are solid.
I agree, and most Porsche enthusiasts agree. The 997 RS is the greatest modern classic Porsche available. Most people will never get to experience one, but if you do, you'll understand why everyone agrees. It truly is some of Han's best work ever.
Why did they have to make the clutch so stiff? It makes any drive in traffic as torture. Otherwise, the power, car size, engine power, etc... are perfect.
@ Have you driven a spyder rs (in anger)? I didn’t see “most raw” as the criteria established for Best. Of course, that leads to the problem of Best being subjective. If “puts the biggest smile on your face” is the criteria, it very much competes. I previously had a 996 gt3, so I can pretty much extrapolate for the 997.2, and it never made me giggle the way my spyder rs does. It’s intake sound redefines what the in-car experience can be.

The 997 is the best GT3 generation. It’s situated between the old and the new. A true visceral driving experience.

The only car of it's class that is sometime actually IMPROVED by adding decals down the side.

Sorry, Spyder RS will never come close to a 997 RS. Its a great car, but it's definitely not as raw as the 997 RS.

Or, one could cheap out and get the sweet spot of the corvette line, the C5. not really comparable in quality, but a nice GT .
