Very much enjoy your videos. Your explanation and demonstration make it very easy to grasp the idea. Have enjoyed making different colors of this awesome technique. Thank you!
Great look!! And so simple to achieve!! Not all of the pressure of precise canes and squares... What a great idea with excellent results! Thank you for your clear instructions.
You have some of the very best tutorials on UA-cam! I love your techniques even when they are intimidating to try. Thank you for sharing such excellent ideas.😊
Beautiful work, Stephanie. I made some beads with this technique, with earthy colors (terracotta, orange, yellow, brown) but I added gold leaf between the black and white layers, giving a very subtle and nice detail. Thanks so much for such wonderful videos. I wanted to include a photo in this post but I didn't know how to do it.
Thank you, Samantha! Very nice! Love the colors you chose! I saw Ludmila's video quite awhile ago and have tried this technique. It's lots of fun and very pretty too!❤️
I love your version also. Your version required less clay as you didn't stack your torn pieces on top of more clay. One thing I wanted to mention. When I made this a while back I only had 2 paints that had the mica in them and so for the rest I just used flat colors and it worked just as good for me. Just thought I would mention that for those who might not have those types of paint on hand that it does work for flat colors. Thanks for this video!
I so enjoyed watching this tutorial, When I am home again I want to try this technique.. I am just getting into making clay jewelry.. please do bring more tutorials..
In many of Samantha’s tutorials she shows various finishes. Among them are excellent videos on how to apply ice-resin or if you have a patreon account you’ll see how she shines her pieces with TLC, I believe it is Cernit’s version using a heat gun. Keep watching! They are so informative!
Hi Samantha, when I reach the stage where I roll the veneer with the rolling pin and then with the pasta machine, the tears disappear and it doesn't look 3-D anymore. Any idea why this happens? Thanks, and thank you for all your wonderful tutorials.
I'd try burnishing with a piece of plain printing paper instead of rolling to avoid distortion. Just place the paper on top of the clay you want to smooth out and rub with a roller. Don't roll, just rub. It works like charm. P.S This video is quite old and isn't as good as some of my newer tutorials.
Wonderful video! I have loved it (but never tried) since Maggie Maggio showed it some time back. Then Ludmilla's version, now yours. I MUST do it now. The colors you used are beautiful and the beads at the end are so luscious! Also, I always mean to thank you for the white background you use. It makes viewing the tutorial so clear. Thanks so much.
I use Ice Resin to get the glass like shine. Here's an in depth tutorial on how to use it. www.etsy.com/au/listing/564016605/tips-and-tricks-walk-through-on-ice?ref=shop_home_active_18
Hi Heather, I absolutely love what you do with Polymer clay. My question is, where do I find that fabulous flexible knife you use? Thank you in advance.
Your work is so beautiful, and sharing all of your experiences is so very helpful, i appreciate it very much so thank you 🌹I'm making this right now, I was wondering your thoughts about keeping translucent premo... translucent? Some poly clay artists suggest cooling immediately in ice water, some day leave it in the oven until it cools completely. I'd really love to know your thoughts and methods about how you treat your translucent clay to keep it so brilliantly translucent 😊
I haven't done a lot of testing, but here are my thoughts. Air bubbles are your enemy. The more bubbles you have the more opaque the clay will be. Bake the clay at the recommended temperature. Tent it with paper to prevent scorching. Sanding also really helps clear it up.
Hello Samantha or anyone reading this comment, could you please let me find the name of a technique where a block of clay is cut into irregular pieces and then hand-blended with either alcohol inks or acrylic paint? It's then cluttered together into a colourful block again and cut into pieces. I've seen it once with no instructions. It was used for jewellery making. I used to work with polymer clay as a child and I successfully made some pendants for myself and family. Now as an adult I'm rediscovering this art and want to make for Christmas gifts 🤩 Thank you to anyone who can help me finding a tutorial on this technique!
Yes you could use any of those. It wouldn't look exactly the same, but similar. You could also add some of the pearl ex to a little bit of paint to get metallic paint if you wanted. :D
Jessama Tutorials this technique looks perfect for making my favorite things-AUTUMN TREES! 😎😎😎 I'll post a picture on your Facebook page when I figure out all the details
I love this technique, and I had a go at doing it today - I tried pastels, really bright and vibrant colours and then some silver leaf but after applying the translucent clay,, it dulled everything down and the silver leaf came out almost white. Any thoughts please? Thank you
Unfortunately, when I click the link for the tutorial you mentioned at the end for the technique for the beads, it takes me out if the app and into the video on the UA-cam website. 😏
Watched for the second time and still love it. I love the colors. What Brand are the paints? I saw Dazzling metallics - is that the actual brand of the paints?
Yes. The translucent clay will be transparent once baked and it will allow me to sand my piece where as if I hadn't put the translucent on I wouldn't be able to sand because I'd sand the paint off.
Help! I followed the tutorial and all was well until the tearing part! My clay just stuck to my fingers and then my roller! What did I do wrong? I ended up with a mess m
Thank you for sharing this video, Samantha! I made the layer already, but I am confused about the thickness. You mentioned, that you started from the ticker setting, then go down to the number 5 of your pasta machine and then to nr. 3. Do you have a different pasta machine? I tried to roll out on the your nr. 7 and the ornament is completely gone(( I have an Atlas pasta machine with motor. Please advice the proper thickness I should start with. Thank you!
I really enjoyed this tutorial! I have a question: in another 'watercolor' tutorial, you used alcohol paints. When or why would you choose to use alcohol paints or instead choose to use the acrylic paints?
So interesting and the effect is lovely. Really glad that I have found you. Very clear video
I love how the end result has a 3-d look. I can't wait to try this. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely Beautiful ❤♥️♥️♥️

Thank you. I know that I can use opaque paints, it's just that I don't have any at the moment. I really like the sparkly kind. :D
Beautiful
As always fabulous thanks Samantha
I would like to learn the bead witch looks like a labradorite gemstone. It looks awesome! Thanks for all!
I will do a tutorial on that in the future, but it's going to be on my patreon account.
Absolutely amazing effect! Thanks for sharing ❤
Thank you. :D
beautiful, would love to see you make jewellery with this. Claire xx
I plan to do a tutorial on the beads I show at the end of the tutorial at some point.
Jessama Tutorials really looking forward to that. Xxx
Lovely
Awesome. Thanks for posting this. Very clear instructions - I think even I could do this! Can't wait to try!
My mind is blown. Can't wait to try this out. Great work!

I love your videos your voice is hypnotic! I love what you do with clay as well! You make it fun and easy!
Love your work 👍
C'est magnifique, merci de partager votre savoir en vidéo, le rendu est superbe, bravo
Please make a video about how you cover and polish your products from polymer clay.
yes, they are so professional and a smooth finished work

Thank you so much
That is really neat!!! Thank you
Love your videos ❤️
Very beautiful! Thank you for the video.
Thank you so much for that. I love those beads, they would be lovely earrings. I'll have to try this technique next. So many tutes, so little time. :)
I know right? So much to do and so little time. It's the only problem with polymer clay.
Hi Samantha, when I reach the stage where I roll the veneer with the rolling pin and then with the pasta machine, the tears disappear and it doesn't look 3-D anymore. Any idea why this happens? Thanks, and thank you for all your wonderful tutorials.

It's a pleasure. I hope to see what you make using this technique.
I love your technique! I am looking for a tutorial to learn how to do marble with some golden chips. Do you have a tutorial for that ?
I'm afraid not. Sorry.
I too would like a video showing how you get that incredible shine on the surface
I use Ice Resin to get the glass like shine. Here's an in depth tutorial on how to use it. www.etsy.com/au/listing/564016605/tips-and-tricks-walk-through-on-ice?ref=shop_home_active_18
Thank you so much for getting back to me. I love all of your tutorials!!!
Beautiful ❤️😍
great as usual & very clear instructions. how would i apply to round core bead?
To apply it to a round bead, rip pieces from the veneer and wrap around the bead. Roll in your hands to smooth it out and you have your bead.
ah so cool, thanks ❤️
Hi Heather, I absolutely love what you do with Polymer clay. My question is, where do I find that fabulous flexible knife you use? Thank you in advance.
I sell it in this set of blades. www.etsy.com/au/listing/726339191/tissue-blade-set?ref=shop_home_active_9&frs=1

Sweet Jumpin' Jacks!
I love how this turned out!
✨💛O💛✨
I also never could get a clear answer about using paint on unbaked clay.
Thank you. Acrylic paint should be fine on unbaked clay. Just make sure it's fully dry before baking as it can bubble.
It's beautiful, thank you!
Love that effect! TFS
It looks 3 dementional , very cool!
Very beautiful, can i do it with acrylic colour? Thanks.
Sure you can use acrylics with it. Any paint will do.
How much of each color clay including translucent did you use?
Hi can I ask is the paint metallic acrylic paint or a special paint which can be put in the oven.
The paint is metallic acrylic.
Hello Samantha or anyone reading this comment, could you please let me find the name of a technique where a block of clay is cut into irregular pieces and then hand-blended with either alcohol inks or acrylic paint? If you didn’t roll it out and used a scalloped edge circle cutter it would make a really great writhe for like Christmas or something similar
Are these acrylic paints?
Yes. They are.
Samantha - what kind of surface do you use to work your clay projects...tile. etc.? Thanks.
I use a ceramic tile. :D
Tell me please how do you cover the finished products, what was on these two pendants?
I use resin as a finish on my beads. I'll do a tutorial on those beads in the future.
Thank you, we will wait for this!!!
I cant wait to see this tutorial! You are truly talented!
Fai corsi in Italia ?
I have a question about this technique. I don’t have metallic paints, instead can I metallic pearl ex powders, or metallic color inks? Thanks Samantha
Yes you could use any of those. It wouldn't look exactly the same, but similar. You could also add some of the pearl ex to a little bit of paint to get metallic paint if you wanted. :D
can you paint over silver leaf? i wonder what it would look like with a sheet between the paint and the clay. btw, i love your tutorials :)
Yes. You can once the leaf is on the clay. You do have to be careful though as the leaf can crack.
Beautiful ! Is that translucent white or just translucent ? My regular translucent never appears as see through ......
Just regular premo translucent. How thin is your translucent sheet?
you just gave me an amazing idea!!! Thank you! ❤
That's great. Don't hold my in suspense though. Whats the idea?
Jessama Tutorials this technique looks perfect for making my favorite things-AUTUMN TREES! 😎😎😎 I'll post a picture on your Facebook page when I figure out all the details
I can't wait to see. Good luck and have fun.
Hi samantha...At what setting u pass thro the translucent clay ? And b&w clay... couldn’t get that part in the video !
The black and white are 1mm thick and the translucent is about 0.5mm thick.
Mine didn’t come out too well.
I love this technique, and I had a go at doing it today - I tried pastels, really bright and vibrant colours and then some silver leaf but after applying the translucent clay,, it dulled everything down and the silver leaf came out almost white. Any thoughts please? Thank you
Have you sanded the finished piece yet? It really come out well after sanding.
Unfortunately, when I click the link for the tutorial you mentioned at the end for the technique for the beads, it takes me out if the app and into the video on the UA-cam website. 😏
ua-cam.com/video/aDF1T5w1JPU/v-deo.html
wow
Can i use this technique with air dry clay?
I'm not sure. I've never used air dry clay before.
What did you bake it at?
Great video btw :)
Hi Samantha, I'm looking to purchase a pasta machine that's not a piece of junk. What brand clay machine do you use or recommend? Thank you!
I use a Jamie Oliver pasta machine. It tends to last around 2 years if I'm gentle with it.
@@JessamaTutorials thank you honey! I watch your video's everyday. Feel like we're becoming best friends🥰
Samantha I ordered cutters from you at least a month ago and have not received them yet. Is there some way I can find out where the are?
Please contact me on etsy with an order number and I'll check it out.
What pasta machine do you use?
I use a master chef pasta machine.
Watched for the second time and still love it. I love the colors. What Brand are the paints? I saw Dazzling metallics - is that the actual brand of the paints?
Yes. Dazzling metallic is the brand name.
what is your work surface?:
I use a glazed ceramic tile.
Is it necessary to cover the beautiful design with translucent clay?
Yes. The translucent clay will be transparent once baked and it will allow me to sand my piece where as if I hadn't put the translucent on I wouldn't be able to sand because I'd sand the paint off.
Can you use white translucent?
Help! I followed the tutorial and all was well until the tearing part! My clay just stuck to my fingers and then my roller! What did I do wrong? I ended up with a mess m
Maybe you need to let it dry out a bit before ripping it as it sounds like the clay is too soft. What brand are you using?
Thank you for sharing this video, Samantha! I made the layer already, but I am confused about the thickness. You mentioned, that you started from the ticker setting, then go down to the number 5 of your pasta machine and then to nr. 3. Do you have a different pasta machine? I tried to roll out on the your nr. 7 and the ornament is completely gone(( I have an Atlas pasta machine with motor. Please advice the proper thickness I should start with. Thank you!
Start with your thickest setting on your machine. Then the next time you roll, roll it to about 2mm thick. Then next time roll it to about 1mm thick.
I really enjoyed this tutorial! I have a question: in another 'watercolor' tutorial, you used alcohol paints. When or why would you choose to use alcohol paints or instead choose to use the acrylic paints?
The alcohol inks give a more watery, translucent look than the paints so I like to use them when I want a more subtle look.
Would this work with alcohol inks?
Yes. It will.
What machine do you use
I use a Master Chef Pasta Machine.
Whoa😳
Bellissimo grazie per la condivisione
Ok so do you bake it at all..... sorry newbie here
This is what I did with it in the end. ua-cam.com/video/U2ydDEviJRk/v-deo.html
bravissima!
Where did you get the tile you work on?
I got my ceramic tile at a hardware store (bunnings).
I wnder if you really have to use acrylic for that instead of just some pieces of clay..
I did it....🤗
