Great video, haven't been to this area for a long time, great memories of school trips and youth hostels, 😀 glad you got space in the pub👍, have a great day 🚶🚶🚶
@@mrsslaw9242 booked for Castleton for after the new year don’t expect to walk the ridge then think weather might be against me that time of the year .I was due to go last May bank holiday
Another great adventure by the Slaw’s 👍. I can still remember being in the car with my parents using the Broken road in the 70’s. The extra miles added on to your estimate are from all the staggering and swaying on the way back from the pub! 😂😂 Keep up the good work.
Lovely video. I wish I could still do those walks. Some fabulous scenery in the peaks. We are heading that way in the summer. We stayed at Laneside in a tent in 1981 when I had my first car, a Hillman Avenger and the site was just a fields with a couple of unmade roads through the middle of it. The stream near the water treatment plant at the bottom of the site gave us trouble one night when it rained heavily 🤣 Great memories, how things have changed 👍🏻🚐 Trev
@@mrsslaw9242 I don’t remember going up the pass. I know we went to Speedwell Cavern on our first trip and got wet from the drips on the ceiling. Sue and I didn’t get married until 1982. I recall one of our first holidays together was in 1979 on a Suzuki GT250 in the Lake District. We pitched a 2 man tent in a dark, wet field in Cockermouth. Then moved to Limefit Park near Ambleside. I had brown hair and no money 🤣🤣 Trev
It's been a while since I walked up there. I can remember driving along that road before it got broken beyond repair. I'm sure I spotted a geocacher in the pub on the next table to you... Ernie from South Yorkshire. The food and beer looked good. A lovely vlog, thanks for sharing. Funny how the sun comes out when you're driving home. xx
Thoroughly enjoyed coming along, although the weather was not great whilst watching this it is tipping it down outside, where has the sun gone, look forward to your next adventure, xx
Hi from Canada. Thanks so much for this adventure too. I looked at those slippery wet stones and mud on your walk. Can I suggest walking sticks to steady yourself on your hikes. I use mine all the time. Loved your series on the NC500. You have inspired me to make the same adventure. So Sign me up for your guide when you finish it. I heartily encourage you to do so. No doubt it will be a powerful tool when we venture forth.
There's always a pub at the end of any walk lol amazing views and scenery there. last time I was there paragliders running down Man Tor . ... wheres the next adventure too ?
Loved that video.. took me back a few years ,we walked from Castleton to hollins Cross, then mam Torr and returned via the route to the castle ..I admire how polite you both are towards each other..would love to know your Christian names and the dogs loved it too. ( they need a jacket)
Thanks Terry! We are Simon & Ann. Slaw got his nickname from years ago when he had ‘S Law’ on his hard hat. Original nickname was coleslaw, soon shortened to Slaw and I was forever known as Mrs Slaw 🤣
Another great video thanks, enjoyed watching them all recently having come across them by chance and are now subscriber's. Hoping to be able to do the same some day soon. p.s the music who is that performed by. All the best for future adventures we will be watching.
Well would you Adam & Eve it!! We were sat a couple of tables away in the George pub. Pause the video at 22.05 and i'm the guy holding the pint. We also checked that we were also on Laneside campsite that weekend. We stayed 14th to the 16th of May and did the same muddy walk back but we did it in the daylight. So close to a slaws mug dam it!! Were from Roberttown.
First class video, lovely place .Hard to beat a beer after all that walking 👏👏
Thanks Sean!
Really enjoyed your video Mr and Mrs slaw beautiful place. And your lovely little dogs with their muddy bellies.
Thank you!
Loved it. Felt like I was on the walk with you all. X
Thank you! It’s my happy place up on the ridge. Just an hour from home and a favourite getaway 👍🏻
Those wee dogs would've been glad of a nice hot bath at the end.
So would I! Although I did sleep well after a long sojourn at the pub 😜

Thanks Trev! I bet Laneside was less ‘sterile’ in those days and taking an Avenger down the pass would have been awesome!

Know exactly what you mean about the puddle jumpers. Straight out of the coffee shop and done 20 minutes.
It was laughable Bernard!
Hi can you tell me where you got your map from
Hi, Mrs Slaw photocopied one of our Ordnance Survey Landranger maps so she could highlight the route with a marker pen.
@@TheSlawsAdventures thank you ives worked from home today and had a full day of your vlogs on in the background
