The Beasties started out as a punk band - and I think you can hear that in a lot of their earlier stuff. In this song in particular, you can hear the rebellious teenage angsty sound, because they were just kids. What was cool about them was that they continually grew and developed their sound. I'd highly recommend you check out their video for "Ch-Check It Out" - great rhymes and the video is hilarious. Great video as always!
I was in high school when this record was released and let me tell you, this song was an anthem for the eight kids I knew who knew about it then, extreme teen rebellion vibes. now, i don't care if I never hear this track ever again, but everything they recorded afterward i'd listen to on repeat for the rest of my life (especially Ill Communication, Check Your Head, and Paul's Boutique).

They were young for sure
They are the precursor to Vanilla Ice Eminem etc
If you watch the video you’ll see how young they were
Just Google "who's the best hip hop band in the world"
