SSTF is abbreviation of Shortest Seek Time First (SSTF) which is a disk scheduling algorithm. It selects the request which is closest to the current head position before moving the head away to service other requests. This is done by selecting the request which has the least seek time from the current head position.

What are the channel from where you study
Thank you sir for the class ..This really helps me for my Micro project presentation !
2nd part ques =
( total track movement ) * 1 track rate
-> ( (50-16) + ( 190-16) ) * 1ns
-> 208 * 1ns = 208ns Ans [✓]
Thank you bhai
You are great !! Thank you so much for your videos !

@@GateSmashers sir what is the answer of the second part of the question ....
No one can teach better than him...
Thanks sir your videos is very helpfull for me in exams
Nice
what if current position of R/W head is at 50 and previously it was serving at 60?
Super sir
Sir what would be the total number of change in direction of head in this question?? will it be 1 or 2 ?
thnxxx
Sir what will do if both two sectors diffrence are same???
Sir here if I have 43 and 57 in queue than with respect to 50 I have both as shortest right than jn which direction to move plz say
I love you sir ❤
If there is 45 and 52 both tracks are available then what we chhose.. 50 to 45 Or 50 to 52???
Your both ways give different answer
Sir please solve this problem
50 is head point and it also repeat again so we make it in graph or not please clear this doubt sir 🙏🙏
👉👉Consider the following disk request sequence for a disk with 100 tracks 45, 21, 67, 90, 4, 50, 89, 52, 61, 87, 25
Head pointer starting at 50 and moving in left direction. Find the number of head movements in cylinders using FCFS scheduling.
Sir you are amazing 🔥🔥🔥
👍🏻👍🏻
hlo sir mera ik question hai ki jise apne example mai vaule li thi 50,40,____60.apne bola hai ki jo sabse nearest hai vo value laini hai kayii bar jee 50,40,20,51.ho value to fir hum 51hi sabse phele choose kare ge kyo ki oh sabse nearest 50kr vo hi hai ja koii or value plz doubt clear krdo
👍👍
Sir are you teaching any live courses for GATE preparation?
Sir...if the seek time is same for both the values...then in which direction do we need to move..??
in case of tie.. use fcfs
The answer to the second part is 208 nano second as 1ns is taken to move one track to another and there are a total of 208 track movements....plz confirm someone?
Same
Same
Sir iska answer btaye plzzzzz😮😮😮😮😮
👍👍👍
sir as you said we have two ways of calculating the final answer but as i did the calculation i found that both the methods give different answers
no..please check your calculations... they give same answer..

Sir....disk drive for cylinders 5,25,18,3,39,8,35 in this order. 4 seeks takes 5msec per cylinder moved.... Assume armed is at cylinder 20...by SSF... What is the total seek time... Sir I got the answer 53 but 4 seeks takes 5ms means answer is.......?? Correct answer 295 but didn't understood
Bro answer is 59 cylinders and 295 ms you didn't study the question properly 295 ms is seek time.
NYC
Sir aapne second question to explain hi nahi kiya
In second part of question they asked if one move takes 1 nano sec then how many nano sec take to complete all the movements the ans will be =total no.of moves × 1 ns( nano sec)
=208 hope u get this
In the last example you gave us,, we can take 61 first and then 40. why did you take 40 first???
