glad that topbox worked well for you. I cheated and bolted the box mounting plate thru a spare pillion seat on my Z900. I haven't tested it yet, but like the idea that I've also added a backrest for myself. I've got a long trip coming up in June, and love all the extra storage space. safe travels.
Interesting. I prefer the traditional way, as I also have some Kriega bags that I can mount them on top of the pillion seat. Last time I went on a longer trip with a different bike, years ago, I had the topbox, 2 kriega bags stacked on top of each other on the pillion seat, and also I had a tank bag. Ride safe.
@@lovelessissimo the trip was good, but very wet. over 1400 miles in 6 days. I had no issues with the topbox or the bike. cruising on the interstate at 75 mph wasn't a problem either.
@@SHOVELCARD I am strongly considering the Z for my next bike (coming from a Ninja 650). I do one big tour per year, and have been wondering how the Z does for touring.
I went for Givi. Normally the plate and rack are sold separately. GIVI 4118FZ for the rack. + M5 base . Fairly straight forward to fit. You just need to disconnect the brake cable that goes from the tail to the bike, and wire that through the mount that comes with the rack. that was a bit more tricky.
I have a bracket that looks like yours but it didn’t really fit the holes index the seat after I got the side mounts on okay. I would like to see up close how yours fit the frame under the seat. Mine is some Amazon no name brand knock off that had no instructions.
I have the original givi mounting kit. Basically there are 2 mounting points: 1. is where the pillion footpegs are. This one is easy. and 2. There is a metal plate that needs to be inserted between the bike and the tail. and that basically provides the 2nd mounting point. share.getcloudapp.com/z8u62J5B

How was the trip? And how did the mount hold up?

Hi Alex i hope your well. What was the luggage rack you have fitted, and was it easy to fit? Thanks
