Respectfully her stats are saying that she’s a bona fide defensive role player, not a starting point guard that can score the ball on a consistent basis 🤷♂️
There's always grey areas . They could've found a way to get her some bread 😔 . Let's be real . HVL should have and could have been benched multiple times last season . She was not good at all , at any point last season - at least P showed signs . She's doing what she feels or thinks she needs to do to get her bread . I wish her fine self good luck 🤞🏿 . There's no real reason why ALL of them or the team didn't get SOME bread after bringing the team crazy amounts of money the last 2 seasons .
Yea I heard about Kamilla going through the same thing last year with NIL . This lawsuit maybe more solid IF a group of students with a high powered attorney sued.
We don’t know why Poa was denied. Speculation - something must bring up a red flag. Will have to wait and see what happens. I feel bad, but that’s the rules which POA should have known how that works.
I didn't know this was happening. Jana El Affy looks like she could very well work her way into being the best college player in the country. She's from Egypt. She would lose out on a ton of money.
I think a federal court will make quick work of this nil deals are usually name image and likeness of a specific player, not a school. Schools usually have their own deals independent of players that's one of the reasons that nil was eventually adopted because schools have been making money and using players images and not giving them a dime if they used one picture or image of her in any of the schools promotions, then they need to pay her. I'm disgusted cuz this is what schools have been doing to student athletes for the past 100 years taken advantage of them while they make billions of dollars and kick them to the curb as soon as they are no longer an asset to them if you ever do any research on some of the dirty underhanded tricks that schools go to to even take away scholarships from players that no longer benefit them or that a coaches doesn't want anymore you would be completely disgusted with colleges.
She’s here in a student visa, this sounds like a losing battle for her. All athletes that have come from overseas on a student visa did not get NIL in America. nika didn’t, Aaliyah Edwards, kamilla cardoso, Zac Edey for example.
Just think...Kamilla Cardoso, Nika Muhl both couldn't take advantage of NIL. Poa would def change things for International players, if a precedent is set.
@Lilquan2004 difficult, for sure but not impossible. Also, something that wouldn't be settled soon, decisions to change policy usually takes years, sometimes a decade. I'd like to hear her side for her decision and the timing.
Im going to have see how many athletes are on P1A that will tell you whose getting what and where they come from to determine who gets these special visas. I will say working in payroll our F1 employees there are some strict rules they have to follow sometimes down to OT they can earn and sometimes not being able to accept promotions. I can only imagine as an athlete the money left on the table.
I worked for USCIS for 2 years. Generally speaking, immigration laws have LOTS of gray areas, more than criminal law. Specifically, big business and the US government LOVE all that gray area because they all profit from it. Allow me to explain: Firstly, the businesses like the broken system because they still get cheaper labor than what they would have to pay hiring US citizens. Secondly, the US government likes it because the applicants pay fees for each application they file. Add in immigration court with the lawyers, judges, and all what a court system has and you have what we have now: a seriously broken immigration system that NO ONE wants to fix. Sure, both parties (republican and democrat) will talk a good game, but notice when either party is in office, the immigration system is never truly reformed. One must ask the rhetorical question: Why is that? The simple answer is- money.
Didn’t Zach Edey have this same issue? I feel like I remember seeing him speak about it. He’s in the NBA now, so it’s no longer an issue for him, but I think he’s the make NCAA player I saw talk about it. 🤔
I'm always for players getting the money they deserved. For anyone saying they got scholarship already, THAT was the reasoning prior to NIL. And, as far as I know, that scholarship was specifically awarded because of their basketball/athletic talents PLUS passing the required intellectual exams and scores, bcoz women's basketball athletes needs to finish their schooling prior to being drafted.
I don't think international players should get scholarships. If we go to their country do we get our tuition paid? No. If Poa wants NIL money then she should sue her country. Her country needs to get businesses in their country to pay into the NIL from abroad. NIL funds can be transferred to these players from their countries . It's ridiculous that any international player gets NIL funds from US businesses. This suit is frivolous and a waste of taxpayers money. CONTACT YOUR OWN COUNTRY. It's not personal towards Poa. This should be for ANY/ALL international student athletes.
@georgie5986 false equivalence. Bcoz those Universities are earning Millions from their players. The better the program (which is SOLELY based on WHO they can recruit) and the more they are on TV, the larger the their share of the Broadcasting $ pie.
She’s needs to get back active on the team and worry about the legal issues when it’s time cause We all know how Kim does her players especially when new breeds come into the picture… Poa is rightfully PG1 I’ve been saying this even when HVL came to the team last year MK12 should’ve been the 6th player coming off the bench to give that team a spark and the season would’ve turned out differently especially when you have ball dominant starters
Everybody is an attorney now and knows everything about the foreign players issue. Amazing. This issue needs to go before the supreme court. These foreign players need to create a lane to NIL. Only issue that seems to be a problem is how the taxes might work I suppose. However if other foreign students are allowed to make money while they are attending college then it might be a discrimination case. Thing is you not going to get anything changed if you don't challenge it. They could have had NIL decades ago if someone had challenged the rules. POA with her looks could be making a lot of money repping some of these brands wish her well.
There are so many people in this country that are not allowed to work to support their families that nobody should care about NIL athletes. I am sure she is not about to get kicked out of her dorm room and is struggling to find food. We all wish we could be fortunate enough to have this problem.
There is always a better US player that deserves NIL and scholarships from all citizens who pay taxes or donate to the universities. I don't think an international student should get scholarships. Their families have not paid one penny to taxes or donated to these universities. It needs to change to support students / athletes who are CITIZENS.
Got a long road to go to prevail. “Internationally recognized performance” and “temporary” likely refers to the Olympics, FIFA football World Cup, World Level track and field competitions. If Poa was seeking to play in the basketball World Cup for Oz then she would be eligible. I believe f-1 and P-1 visas fall under “nonimmigrant” visa, that is, those NOT on the presumptive path way to lawful permanent resident (“green card”) status. The restrictions on NIL and F-1 likely derive directly from USA Immigration Law. Good luck convincing a court that Congress can’t set conditions on visas because the Constitution specifically give Congress wide scope subject only to limitations of international law (ratified treaties) regarding conventions on asylum, humanitarian relief, convention against torture and such. I am curious to know Poa’s claims deserving relief. All I know from hearing/reading about other immigration cases involving denials is IF the decision is solely at the discretion of the Attorney General (or perhaps Dept of Homeland Security) there is very little a court can do. Because the record is sealed, we’ll have to wait to learn the basis for the case. Maybe the goal is to have certain restrictions on F-1 visa holders declared unconstitutional by the SCOTUS; barring congressional action Poa’s NCAA eligibility will be gone by the time the SCOTS rules.
The question is.....who is really gonna wear her attire.... It's about 💰💰 she may have been good in that series.....but Angel topped her in the marketplace..... Just because she thinks she deserves it.... doesn't mean a thing ...
She’s not a U.S. citizen. There’s a reason we have laws like that in place. Good luck with that lawsuit cause it wont go anywhere either. She received a free quality education for her efforts.
She didn’t but when she went to the wnba she was able to earn money from sponsors and stuff that she wasn’t able to get in college it was one of the main reasons she left college and didn’t stay another 1
Is that really her name or is that a nickname or something lol. Now that I think about it, any time I ever seen her name I only saw L. Poa so I never heard it until now.
international students can enter the draft early so she needs to enter the draft early. Poa cannot win her case because it impacts the larger immigrant population. Millions of people would start to apply for student visas solely for the purpose of obtaining employment. She cannot win her lawsuit due to the broader implications involved. Student visas are the easiest to obtain if abused it would decrease access to other international students.
Seems fair to me if you ain’t from this country you shouldn’t be allowed to get NIL it should stay for only Americans don’t care what nobody say if you mad about take yo ass back to your country

I absolutely do not agree overseas athletes should get NIL. Sorry. They are getting scholarships already to attend college for free. This will be a WHOLE problem for American Kids, here looking for opportunities. The rules are set on what is allowed for a Student VISA. It should not change and it sets a precedent for anyone overseas to come over just to make money.
NIL is corrupting college basketball. If you're a great player and your job is to support the best on your team to become a millionaire, what do you think? Basketball is a TEAM sport and money is corrupting college basketball when the players should be having the time of your life w/o making money and competing to be a millionaire.
LSU basketball is neither internationally recognized nor is it popular internationally. In fact, most foreign countries do not even have college sports, nor do they follow college sports. It is a privilege in itself to come to the US on a Visa and play college sports. Sorry, but, foreign athletes need to wait until it is legal for them to pursue more. For now, she can work on campus or, if authorized by her school, she can work for training in her field of endeavor. Unfortunately, I can't find anywhere on the internet what her major is at LSU. I wonder why that is?
@@beema2404 I accept your apology for this non sourced rant and absurd over-generalization, over simplified nonsensical blind faux patriotism ........when although i agree with you that the US is a very "nice country", the educational system is severely lacking in almost every aspect i.e. funding, proper student/teacher ratios and even simple things as proper building maintenance, nutritional meals and supportive staff both before/after school as well as child care in the critical Pre-K years. When yopu capitalize the word "WANT" it is clear of your implication that any failures in this regard are the families "faulkt" and not the country or Gov't wheras we can all agree it must be a combination of both in its failures. Its hard to have a convo about this when we are watching videos of extremely privileged and blessed people like Poa who happens to play Basketball very well and that has obviously helped her attend better schools who value sports and the $ generated. Let alone Final Four...You can be a gifted scorer but if you can't defend...you can't win..Her best chan against CC last season was to go back at Her... make CC defend... she had too much energy on offense...And Hailey is a Better defender than CC
Great commentary
Respectfully her stats are saying that she’s a bona fide defensive role player, not a starting point guard that can score the ball on a consistent basis 🤷♂️
The law is very clear. She is not eligible for NIL that requires work. Whether you think that is fair or not is beside the point, the law is the law.
Great content! Keep it coming!!
It happened with Kamilla Cardosa.
And Nika Muhl and Aaliyah Edwards
That's the only way to get the issue before the supreme court because it is somewhat odd they can't get a work visa to benefit from NIL
She’s here in a student visa, this sounds like a losing battle for her. All athletes that have come from overseas on a student visa did not get NIL in America. nika didn’t, Aaliyah Edwards, kamilla cardoso, Zac Edey for example.
Nobody is doing it like you. Great video
Just think...Kamilla Cardoso, Nika Muhl both couldn't take advantage of NIL. Poa would def change things for International players, if a precedent is set.
It’s not happening 1 of the main reasons is simply because she don’t pay taxes
@Lilquan2004 difficult, for sure but not impossible. Also, something that wouldn't be settled soon, decisions to change policy usually takes years, sometimes a decade. I'd like to hear her side for her decision and the timing.
Support the girl to get her fair share 💪
I appreciate you ! I think she deserves everything! She works hard like any other player! That’s crazy! Thanks for reporting Quita
It's the same as Kamilla Cardoso at South Carolina. She couldn't sign and deal until after she left.
Super interesting video Quita! Will Poa be eligible for the W draft and what kind of prospect do you think she’d be if she plays a lot this year?
She’s eligible for the WNBA draft. And I think that we have to see how she plays this season to really see where she will be drafted
@@QuitaLovesSports - She is the type of guard I'd love the Liberty to pick up.
She has to have a big year right now I would say she go late 2nd round
I worked for USCIS for 2 years. Generally speaking, immigration laws have LOTS of gray areas, more than criminal law. Specifically, big business and the US government LOVE all that gray area because they all profit from it. Allow me to explain:
Firstly, the businesses like the broken system because they still get cheaper labor than what they would have to pay hiring US citizens.
The reason Poa is not with the team is out there.
It's hard to know what is happening. We can only guess.
Why isn't she playing? We can't have any idea.
Didn’t Zach Edey have this same issue? I feel like I remember seeing him speak about it.
He’s in the NBA now, so it’s no longer an issue for him, but I think he’s the make NCAA player I saw talk about it. 🤔
I believe he did talk about it before
5 new DAWGS at LSU WBB. Looking forward to your view.
It’s not going to end well for her which is sad & depressing 😢
Oooh. She's going to have a hard time setting a precedent. It will open a floodgate and not only for NIL.
Love me some Poa💜💛 … The “chargerator”
This should be for
ANY/ALL international student athletes.
@georgie5986 false equivalence. Bcoz those Universities are earning Millions from their players. The better the program (which is SOLELY based on WHO they can recruit) and the more they are on TV, the larger the their share of the Broadcasting $ pie.
Great video!!!!!
Thanks for watching!
@@QuitaLovesSports always your deep dive into gabby thomas’ sky relationship was awesome too wishing your channel much success!!!
I hope everything goes well for her and she will get back on the court soon as possible ❤❤❤
There are so many people in this country that are not allowed to work to support their families that nobody should care about NIL athletes. I am sure she is not about to get kicked out of her dorm room and is struggling to find food. We all wish we could be fortunate enough to have this problem.
Love u Pao!
GOT DAM! Always something going on @LSU!!! We need Poa. she better be on the court this season
@@BrandonSmith-rb1bf Kim Mulkey
@@timlynch6271 How??
Never a dull day in the Bayou!
Plus it’s not like she can’t play internationally! They should absolutely not change the Law.
If you’re witnessing cyber bullying please call it out 😎
She should get paid as well. She needs to get her money bag💰
I don't think Kamila Cardosa received anything last season either
She didn’t but when she went to the wnba she was able to earn money from sponsors and stuff that she wasn’t able to get in college it was one of the main reasons she left college and didn’t stay another 1
Something must've popped up when they did her background search. Immigration does not play. Hope she's able to settle things.
I like Poa, but I don’t think she has a case
Do Coaches bypass U.S. impoverished good players who have dreams to have a better life? Are laws in place for a reason?
Is that really her name or is that a nickname or something lol. Now that I think about it, any time I ever seen her name I only saw L. Poa so I never heard it until now.
That’s her real name, let me know if you want to see a video about why she was named that, there’s a family reason for her name
@ Sure that’ll be cool. Sounds like something deep.
@@QuitaLovesSportsIt's a lovely story. Please share it with apoti.
Yes, please! That would be very interesting!!
@@QuitaLovesSportsPoa and Smith had a bad breakup, and that’s why she’s not with the team now.
international students can enter the draft early so she needs to enter the draft early.
I feel for that young lady
Zach Edey couldn't receive NIL. It doesn't seem fair just because you're from a different country🤷
Literally every country has rules for non-citizens that are different from citizens.
So rules should be universal in all things
Seems fair to me if you ain’t from this country you shouldn’t be allowed to get NIL it should stay for only Americans don’t care what nobody say if you mad about take yo ass back to your country
Cut that young lady a check.
Why is she suing?
If she is 20, she should declare for the WNBA draft. Good enough player to.
Is that her real name? Where is she from? Also, Geaux LSU!!
Yes , she’s Polynesian, and name honors her grandmother.
@ Cool!
She can always attend University at home. LSU is a military flagship school for the State.
Pistol Pete Hall was used to house Katrina victims.
Kim Mulkey and her Mascots. The Lion 🦁, The 🐯 and the 🐻.
It's bad enough Kim Mulkey was on the 1984 Olympics Team which no one seems to honor.
She is like Veronica Burton but a better shooter and leadership.
Poa was rerrified to guard CC ive never seen that before.
Love her accent
Don't know what her major is. but she is definitely enrolled and attending classes NOW.
Pay Poa!!!!!!!!
She’s still getting a free education in America right? Many families in the states would kill to just have that.
I basically would say that your statement about "does a fantastic job" is just absurd. But i would welcome documented proof of this "fantastic school system" you speak of if you could provide those sources.

I hate to hear of Poa’s off court problems. Similar to Angel Reese, outside of WBB talent……she has the face, body and feet to be a top model. Her open toe shoe game is impeccable! I hope she is happy and successful however this turns out.
HVL was trash for LSU - no cap!
Be thankful you’re here in this country. Be thankful you’re getting a free education. The entitlement that some people feel they deserve is ridiculous. She’s a role player and not even that good.
Not a citizen, no nil money
She just needs to enter the country illegally and she will get a Messi deal.
She won’t have to worry for long she done shed her last tear!
Didn't Aaliyah Edwards get around that last year?
Aaliyah Edwards signed a NIL name, image contract adidas Canada, but wasn't allowed to speak about it for fear that promoting the deal might jeopardize her student visa. Under current United States law, Edwards, and other international students, could only make money in USA with passive NIL deals. She could get a little something, for example, if someone brought a jersey with her name on it at the campus bookstore.
Something is wrong with college players demanding money. Ruining college sports. Sorry, takes away from the spirit of the game.
