Seeing Alex and Wheeler playing Canadian Highlander is perhaps the best in-person magic being played on UA-cam right now. Plenty of amazing personalities besides them but the chemistry between these two, as perfectly encapsulated by the first card played in their first match in this video, is amazing.
Thank you for providing the entertainment guys. I really do appreciate it.
The Alex/Wheeler pairing consistently makes me laugh harder than most other things
theres an edition of the canlander league where wheeler and alex start referencing evangelion and ao3 and that entire match is just gold, game 2 in particular. north 100 so desperately needs alex back, if only for a third voice that isnt a judge, but definitely because alex and serge reacting to things is true magic
Cameron - Alex is also one of my faves. It's like watching a very scared and/or bored cat interacting with a dog
Nice to see Wheeler and hope that he’s able to recover and take some time for himself. Also always great to see Alex back for Powerful Magic.
What happend to wheeler?
Did something happen to him? I haven't caught a stream for a while
For anyone wondering, copied from Wheelers twitter, posted on june 11.
"I’m going to be taking some time away from streaming. I’ve been struggling with the aftermath of a severe traumatic brain injury the past 8 months, and It is preventing me from working, performing and computer/screen viewing. Thanks for the support, this year has been total hell."
Is this why he’s been wearing sunglasses in recent vids? To help with bright lights/screens? I thought he was just being rad as heck.
@@dakotastedman2211 Well, he's definitely rad but the sunglasses are probably to help with light sensitivity since the sets are always so brightly lit
Haven't watched yet since I'm not at home but I'm so stoked to see Alex back for canlander gameplay!
This "Jitte" card seems to be kinda strong.
It's like that card "Life of Toshiro Umezawa," but super buffed.😉
Or the awful mh1 charm
That madcap experiment was amazing. Love the CanLander content.
Gotta love canlander battles in the background on a chill Sunday afternoon while I knock out house chores. Getting hyped up for some Powerful Magic of my own tonight 😎
Love anytime there's a Canlander video
I love the last game where Serge just cycled through some of the best creatures from the last 4 years
Either you guys are just the most relaxed magic players ever, or you smoked the green stuff before you started playing. No matter what this is an amazing gameplay, it was so much fun to watch.
Canadian Highlander content, hell yeah! Looking forward to seeing what you brought, Alex!
*Edit*: Oh my! That game between Alex and Serge was fantastic! Really liked that! Nelson brought a sweet deck too, glad we got to see so much of it!
Such a warm element of nostalgia for me seeing cards I used to play in my Mono-Black Discard deck in the late 90's in Nelson's Deck.
Happy to see some really cool cards in the mono black deck. It looked like a ton of fun to play.
Alex is always a treat to see.
54:40 Shape Anew. It’s blue and cool
Love the content and happy to see Wheeler - yes, we're all Australian, duh. Just wanted to say that weirdly, Nelson's head kept making me think he had a yarmulke on. Just a camera angle thing, but completely messed with my head! :)
This was so fun to watch. That gamble play was amazing
Magic is just the best when it’s friends jamming. It’s why paper will always beat digital.
I totally sympathize with Alex. Jitte is very triggering.
Serge's orb into Titania into 6 5/3s was powerful magic, and he did it like muscle memory.
That’s because he literally attacked with his platinum when he didn’t need to right into jitte
@@peewee130946 i was very confused what his angle was there
I will never stop saying how much I love canlander content.
1:15:20
Shoutout to Nelly and copying token lands, I have an EDH deck with Rionya that just does monored landfall for literally just this, token lands are the coolest concept
My highscore is 86 mountains coming down in one turn!
yes ! you can do the same thing with needle spires and myriad. as long as you have a way to keep the myriad token out, you have three more lands. idk how effecient it is, but i think it's sweet
More Canadian Highlander content, just inject it straight into my blood, always the best!!!
Always so great seeing Wheeler playing and playing so perfect
something nice about myselve: I always rly enjoy watching your Canlander games. Stay as funny as you are! :D
It's always cool to see Alex!
Can't wait to get off of work and watch this! Love the content yall.
If an effect allows you to play a land or cast a spell from among a group of cards, you may play or cast a modal double-faced card with any face that fits the criteria of that effect. -Wizards
Oh, Paul found it. I just posted this when they moved on from talking about it.
2:00 Oh no it's Guru!
Honey, wake up! It's CANLANDER TIME!!!!!
Dang Serge, that was a perfect play
I think Canlander is starting to be my favourite format of Magic...
I love your highlander content!!!!!!! This made me so happy :)
this is some good magic content
Dang, Serge. That was the perfect play.
Somewhere, Cam's and Kathleen's heads shot up when Serge started singing Vindicated. Lol
"if this hand was different than what it current is, i would definitely keep it" should absolutely go in stuff magic players say volume 3
I am in love with Nelsons' list omg
Was literally talking about that card internally on the dress down of platinum emperion
My vote for best video game urgh noise is Doom guy's.
Game 2 with Alex and Wheeler was a close one. Great games in this one!
@30:30 why did Alex reveal the top card of his library and called it a scry?
Anybody know where one can find an updated points list for Canlander assuming there is one? The most recent one I can find is the points list from August of 2021and I don't know if it's been updated wince then.
I fell asleep to the audio of this an there is something hypnotic about serge shuffling
Nice to see you back boys 💙
Ohoho yeah boi! Canlander with the lads!
I love these so much
True-Name Nemesis... Protection from named player fills so much head space and forces out rational thought, but it's just a 3 mana 3/1 hexproof, unblockable, immune to damage. That's still really good but much less intimidating to think of it like that. It's much less good on the defensive, and if the controller is on the offensive it really just simplifies your strategy. Just ignore it and accept that you're taking 3 damage a turn until you hit a non-damage boardwipe or you kill your opponent, or at least put them low enough that they can't afford to be on the offensive anymore.
If you spend too much time worrying about it you're going to lose to your own self doubts.
*A new canlander video appears* Dis is gonna be good !
Yes! More canlander!
I'm always hankering for some canlander so thank ye
i love these streams so much
I miss table friends for Highlander. They keep things from getting too dry when the players go into the tank.
True, but I've found sometimes table friends get too friendly and then go on tangents with a player, which can distract from the actual game. I think they have a good mix of content with and without table friends for the sake of diversity and that's nice
How can i see the decklist of all decks? Thank you for play Highlander because is difficult to find Highlander matches on youtube. Congrats!!!
Decklists are linked in the description of the video
I just love busting into a card game with a completely wrong card. Like when I was playing Uno one time and when the colour was green I went “Forest, your turn”. XD
Do we have any videos with Serge playing Pox lands? I've been really getting into the archetype lately, and would love to learn a bit
With Nelson vs ben, you can only take library with duress
Props to Nelson to be positive to titania/orb death.
A "nice" thing about me: I learnt to play magic through Highlander
Serge had the game locked up at 1:08:00 and just threw it away...
Bluey reference? lol, nice!
So are Moxen just worse than basic lands in Serge's deck?
as always, depends on when you draw them. they are ramp, so getting something out a turn or two earlier and being able to hold lands for later triggers can be helpful. But it is a terrible top deck when you have literally 0 other things to do.
Hey Serge! Questing Beast doesn't synergize with lands you... fake lands pilot?
love canlander!
Alex is looking excellent lately.
Idk if it helps but on arena the double landfall guy from znr lets u play the other side as a land
In the history of True Name Nemesis, did anyone ever chose himself?
more Canlander! yes!!
I like Alex's shirt in this stream
5C mono black for the mutilate memes
SOOOOO MUUUUUCH CANLANDER CONTEEENT
Alex canlander justifies the format existing
Wait, if there’s an old plats in play, creatures still do damage?
Plats says your life total doesn't change. They still do the damage. But your life total stays the same.
@@SJR2301 oooooh thanks
DRC surveils... but lets just say he left it on top
What fun and ENGAGING content to bless my gay eyes, happy pride to my fav magic gameplay
Pump this right into my eye holes.
marshmellon was a t1 deck
swamp in Italian is palude
Ok legit hide seek is a sweet card I'm suprised I don't see it more
Canlander! Canlander!
Yum canlander yum yum
the most scuffed intro of all time, everyone suffering frkm the worst hangover of their lives
Algorithm beats
YES!!!!!!
Can true name nemesis be sacrificed by flesh bag and friends ?
Afaik yes, that works because flesshy b doesn't target your opponent, but says "each player".
@@Finkeldinken neat
You can even hit True Name Nemesis with a Diabolic Edict (or anything that says "Target player sacrifices a creature"). It targets the player, and the Nemesis' protection only prevents targeting the creature itself.
All edicts work yes.
MTG!
yaay its wacky alex
CandyLand!
for the algorithm
I miss that alex isn't that much unscene.
And now this.... CUT THE VID!
Wait…Roblox isn’t free?
Lol Alex is so bad
I'll take awkward intros over Ben screaming any day...
