Music is the best medicine for the soul
Es verdad, amigo.
Preach!!
Absolutely!!!
AMEN!!!
Especially THIS music.
Went to a church service in Bermuda long ago and it was practically just like this. Dancing and singing like I never seen before. It was fantastic!
Churches are scary places full of dark magic. Be warned. They are not what people believe they are.
@@je-freenorman7787 you serious? Must have been to the wrong churches...
@@j.calvert3361 Does your ignorance hurt you as much as others? I guess you're not sure?

Still my favorite movie to this day. Watched it over 1000 times.
You watch it so much we think you'r on a mission from God.
Rookie numbers.

Aside from the bustin flips, a few of the baptist churches I grew up in were this high energy at times...
Definitely a classic 👌they don't make movies like this anymore, such a shame
Thanks satan, they don't make movies like this anymore
They never made a movie like this before, either. It owes a great debt to what came before, but it's a truly unique experience.
@@Mattwarszawa it’s a piece of “Americana”. Back when the US actually had artists make real original art, instead of just CGI-heavy soulless “remakes” of every actual original property from the 80’s and 90’s.
If the good Rev. James Brown don't make you see the light, NOTHING will!
Amén for that
Amen to that, brother!
James Brown was a coke head drug addict that beat women.
That about Sums up the USA lol Satanic Selfish wealth worshipers, stuck in their own egos and religious beliefs.
@@je-freenorman7787 Yeah he used to beat his wife.
I"m a white guy and I say this as sincerely as I can. I've been to a black pentecostal church before and this demonstration is freaking spot-on as to what it was like. I don't care if you are religious or not, every single white person needs to experience BLACK PRAISE at least once in their life. I'll never forget it.
I went to one mass with my friend at a black either Baptist or maybe pentecostal church and it was the best time I've ever had inside a church, I wish we had gone to that church instead of our stale, judgey catholic one
Hispanic here. I need it. I want it.
🎉 You're right. I'm a white chick and go to a black church. It's awesome! The music is phenomenal too!

Hmmmmm mmmmmm
I wish more Churches had trampolines.
🤣
That won't happen because someone would eventually break a arm or leg
@@jerryupp239 I’ve heard many times that churches are a place of healing ;)
I wish there was no church. Religion is our biggest curse. The churches in the USA are all for worshiping Satan.
Best observation ever lol.
I was 16 when this movie came out. Was living my first apartment. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Saw this back in da day on release, and church was like this without the pro dancers.
You danced because you felt the music move you.

Blues Brothers is one reason why I think I was lucky to have been able to spend better part of my life in the 20th century.
Is it morol or moral and which one is masking humans? Or voting for slavery? or sending in the army?
"Have you seeeen the light?"
"Yes! Yes! Jesus H. Tap-dancing Christ! I have seeeen THE LIGHT!!!"
I went to a very conservative religious boarding school when I was a kid. We had Church services everyday and three on a Sunday! We were allowed to bring in one VHS movie once a month and everyone had to sit down and watch it. When it was my turn I brought in this movie. It was the clean version (taped off the tv) with all the 'mf's' edited out. Once it started the teacher on duty clearly had a problem with it being appropriate for 8 - 13 year old boys, but couldn't really speak up because the film was about saving an orphanage run by a Nun and was about two men on 'a mission from God'.😂 Some of those kids were so excited by the end car chase that they were screaming and shouting and some were even riding their chairs with excitement as they cheered on Jake and Elwood. There was almost a riot! I like to think I broadened a few minds that day and planted a few seeds. An anti-authority classic. Still my all time favorite movie.
i won a gong show with the blues brothers

What light? Lol
You worship a horse
That moment when you go to church and find out everyone is a professional dancer.
You mean you didn’t know?

Best movie of all time.
I just sent this to my drummer, who has not graced our band with his skills in some time. But last night we got the band back together for a little bit, and it was almost a religious experience. Thanks, Jeremy, love ya bro!
This scene makes me want to go to church
Ok this is my church.💖
You would see the light 4 sure.
Love how they left the cool down in. Didn't cut to next scene. Let the cool down show. Genius.
at 2:32 you can see a technician running from the left to the right aisle at the back of the church right in front of Jake lmao
Elwoods dance though! 2:25😂😂love it!!
Praise the Lord and John Bulishi. And James brown! This is a beautiful way to see the light and the Lord 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🥹🥹
I need more uptempo gospel music in my life! 🙂
i had a kid finally removed from my class and i kid you not... this scene immediately came to mind and light was shinning in through the windows on a cloudy day... CAN YOU SEE THE LIGHT?!?!?! I turned on this clip and played the speakers as loud as they could go... it was awesome.
Not cool my friend.
I went to a few churches with this exact energy, i loved it
Why doesn't this scene appear in the usual generic lists of the greatest movie musical dance sequences in history ! It belongs right up there! In fact the whole Blues Brothers movie should be up there. Dagnamnit! ( pardon my blaspheming....😉😁🤣🤣🤣
The closer was Jake doing jumping jacks after catching the HOLY SPIRIT, in the Back of the Church! He caught the Holy Spirit…🥴 for REAL. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
When you realize that that the priest is played by James Brown, the outstanding singer of soul music
Chaka Khan is in the choir.
This scenes everything: When doom 4 was announced, when ff7 remake came out, when that one guy got out of jail etc

That was amazing 🔥 That was unreal🔥 Never gets old🔥
I read Belushi didn’t have a stuntman for the back flips but the cocaine budget was high 😂
Listen, if James Brown was the reverend, I'd be at church bustin' a move on Sundays too.
I give this film 11/10 best film ever made well in my opinion 😂

THIS is WHERE the BAND Looks After The AUDIENCE.
I actually watched the music video of "some people" by Cliff Richard a minute ago.
I never noticed they made a reference to the Blues Brothers and Jake's somersault from this scene.
Holy spirit the Band.❤
The colour of people's skin should NOT matter AT ALL. This music was, is, and will always be absolutely beautiful, pure masterpiece. Stop bringing race in every topic. Peace.

This didn't happen at the church i went to 😭, but i wish it had. Instead we were told to sit, stand and kneel and when i told my mum my legs were sore she said "how do you think Jesus felt on the cross" 🤔

I SAID "MIND-BLOWING"!
A church sermon led by James bloody Brown, a joyous crowd, so excited and energetic, and ends with John Belushi freaking out in glorious fashion… and the movie’s only just getting started. Legendary
This is one of my favourite movie scenes because for the first few minutes of the movie, you don’t know if the movie is gonna be a drama or an adventure movie or whatever, but this scene absolutely sets the tone for the movie

Such a brief appearance, but James Brown as Reverend Cleophus was somehow the most brilliant casting in the history of film.
Add Carrie Fisher and Aretha Franklin .. then you have it.

Under normal circumstances, I truly despise musicals. However, The Blues Brothers will always be on my top ten greatest movies of all-time list. It's truly a timeless classic.

It's 2021, and the Blues Brothers movie, continues to amaze me just as it did when I first saw it in the theater back in June 1980.
Thanks ... you just made me feel really old! 😄
Yeah! Hard to believe this movie is over four decades old! And better than most of what Hollywierd has been producing of late.
Yes! Two weeks ago, I was fortunate to catch the original Blues Brothers and Blues Brothers 2000 back to back!
Now I've found some of my favorite scenes of both movies right here on UA-cam!
This one and Animal House. John Landis knew funny and did it with so much heart.
Cult movie. Sequel as well.
I was not even born when this film came out. I first watched it in 2007 nearly 27 years after its release.

Blues Brothers can never be remade. With all the musical talent this movie has and damage done. Impossible.

I had a gig a while back as a production assistant for a mobile recording studio that did a lot of live recordings of black gospel groups performing in churches in and around Durham, NC. Minus the choreography and high jumping, this was a pretty accurate portrayal of the atmosphere. Those churches ROCKED.
Gig?
yeah, it kinda sucks, ... in white churches, .. least the ones on tv, the preacher has to start screaming in the middle of the sermon to wake everybody up.
Chaka Khan, James Brown, John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd all in one scene...love this movie
Chaka Khan? I’ve seen this movie hundreds of times and had no idea? Where was she?
