There is a few different ways but I use a threaded eyelet screw and attached the winch line to that. I have used a bracket with a hole that can be screwed to the other end of the log which also works.
I put the video together to show the steps in attaching a winch setup to the mill, Unfortunately I don't have a saw right now to show it working in progress. but trust me it works great!
He just showed you how to put it together so be grateful, your obviously watching for a reason. There are tonnes of chainsaw milling videos with a winch in operation so go watch one if you want but if you know how to turn a handle then it's no different to a normal chainsaw mill, you should be alright without having your hand held.
Bro, amazing video. I will adding this to my mill.
Great! let me know how it goes.
I am adding a winch to my home made Alaskan mill and this gives me ideas on how to modify my mill.
Let me know how it works for you!
I added one but made another bigger one without a winch. It doesn't work for me.
So you've never done it, but you sound like you have, never rely on aluminium for support, especially over any amount of time
I did try a winch but letting go of the mill to hook it up didn't work for me. My mill is like David Groth's with a 070 Clone Stihl.
Can you put the front Pole on the ladder
Yes, you would be able to.
How do you attach the winch to the end of the log?

Can you leave a list of everything you need? Thanx
I have updated the material I used in the description of the video! another questions please let me know!
Thanks alot. You saved me the work of trying to figure out how to do this!
You’re not going to show us then
