Some English will tell you the most important Kiwi on the field was the ref, and yeah Lowe probably should have gotten a yellow but if O Keefe was reffing to the laws of the game to the letter there would have been more yellows for England too. I say well done to the ref for letting a niggly game flow and not going to the TMO every 90 seconds.

Great discussion. The discussoon about the cross-kicking tactic was interesting. From a risk perspective, it is done mostly when an attacking team has a penalty advantage. Dupont was an example of that.
Well spotted mate. He’s bloody perceptive is Justin. Will be very interested to see whether our SR sides use this tactic too. Thanks for the comment and please hit subscribe it really helps!
The fact that the Ireland players relaxed in the latter part of that game, thereby allowing England in for two tries, won’t happen again. Those guys will have had a rocket up their backsides for allowing that to happen.
The Irish were subdued and worried in the first half … I wouldn’t be so cocky. They aren’t what they were and are on the wane. Relying on old players and bench. France will destroy them
@@Mattt4314 : You’re possibly partially right. But I don’t think they’ll be destroyed by France, even though France are quite capable of winning that game. In the end though with home advantage I think Ireland will just about take the game against France.
Once the match is won we tend to get lazy. That's one of the main differences between us and the All Blacks. If they smell blood in the water they don't let up.
@@Mattt4314 destroy maybe not but it will be an attractive challenge France whose first needs to win the Crunch and considering England 1st half vs Ireland and playing at home, it is not done yet. Also France bench is not Ireland's except Baille, Marchand and Le Garrec

Ireland were under pressure after poor Autumn nations. Didn’t turn up for the All Blacks and unconvincing wins against Argentina and Australia. That match clicked better for them.
The preparation for the All Blacks game was baffling. Ireland went into the All Blacks game cold with no game under their belt while The All blacks played the week before and fixed their errors and issues. Ireland were actually very poor against the All Blacks and made a lot of unforced errors which you cannot fix against the All blacks. Would have preferred if they had played the week before against Japan or leave the All Blacks game to last. It might have been different.
@ of course, that’s the normal outcome but to clarify, the All Blacks won playing poorly. Ireland were terrible and the AB’s were just less terrible. I bet you’ll never watch that match back. I know I won’t.
Yeah strangely kinda average during autumn tests last year. Mind you it was the start of your international season. This weekend’s Scotland test will be a real battle, let’s see if they build upon that 22-0 blitz during 2md half vs England. Thx for the comment mate.
'" How good is this Ireland team?' ....why continue to 'question' Ireland? It's as if you are 'surprised' that Ireland are as good as they are. Mon Dieu! Their 4 provincial set up, their youth academy's, for years, the IRFU-Provincial working glove-in hand... the envy of other rugby nations...including England. Come on folks, accept Irl. are in the top 3 or 4 and lets talk about the actual way they play or their payers etc
No debate here mate, now among the elite sides alright but.. still gotta exorcise that WC demon. I was at the 1/4 in Paris and it was like they froze (again). Having said that the All Blacks were mighty that night, best we’d played in 2/3 years. Cheers and thx for the comment, Mart
As an old Irish supporter, Bundi has full Irish citizenship now. He has shown fully that he is deserving of such acceptance. He represents you New Zealanders exceptionally well. Oh, that N'gani Laumape would come to the Emerald Isle, too: in my 🥃 dreams. An excellent show. Thank you Marty, Justin. You are true rugby men. Un-bias, level-headed, factual.
England are greatly improved from the Jones period and are starting to look a lot more serious. Ireland look like they’re only warming up. Justin is correct that they need to settle on their 10 - they have several serious options there, but can any be as good as Sexton? When you look at the structure and governance of Irish rugby and the conveyor belt of young talent constantly emerging from Leinster & Munster, you have to say that Ireland are in some shape for the foreseeable future.
@DevlinSportsPodcastNetwork I'm in bro! Irish fan here but love ABs rugby have been getting up the crack of dawn since I was a young lad to watch super and championship!
Prendergast will be the man for the job. He has X factor even though it was just ok for him against England. He is only 21 and will grow into the job nicely. Crowley is a quality player too.
I’ll tell ya now mate I’d love to have him as an AB prospect bcos our longish term #10 situation is … um .. yeah .. well .. we don’t have one! Clearly Razor isn’t convinced about McKenzie and neither are most of us fans! Appreciate the comment mate.
I usually get annoyed by the mention of the 3 kiwis, every international team barring SA perhaps, has a number of non nationals, they are important to us but in this game they all played fantastic. I think Dan Sheehan was the most impactful player on Saturday, Ireland really missed him in november when we had the kiwis playing.
And the funny part about it is that the three kiwis mentioned were surplus to requirements at home, I.e. not considered good enough, before they left for professional provincial contracts in Ireland. They all benefited massively within the Irish system and their games went to another level. It’s unlikely that this would have happened to any of them had they stayed at home
@randalmacdonald2618 absolutely right, JGP came through at the same time as TJ Perenara, the AB's chose TJ leaving Jamison with no international future, Aki came to Connaught at the request of his friend Pat Lamb, as Bundee could not support his family playing rugby in NZ and was working in a bank! Hard to imagine Aki not playing rugby at all.
Agree, England were so lucky O'Keefe kept his cards in his pocket despite England's endless penalties. He could've sent two or three English to the bin but kept it as a contest. Fair play...
Poor Wales. I'm Irish and when they meet Italy I usually cheer for and Italian upset, but this weekend I am praying that Wales can win. Rugby needs that country. I grew up watching Gareth Edwards, Barry John, Phil Bennett and JPR Williams.beat the hell out of Ireland so many times. They were the only country that we thought might beat AB's back then. Come on Wales!
Hahahahahaha is that a fact?? If England rugby really got their shit together we’d all have reason to be worried. But their admin makes the duffers at NZR look like they could split the atom.
Not happy about the leaking of tries near the end in the Ireland game. The score humbled England and the points difference could be important at the end. Thats a concern. A few old tired bodies out there.
Going forward Prendergast has the highest ceiling with Jack on his tail keeping him honest. Both Sam and Jack are streets ahead of Frawley and will be our starting and back up 10 going forward.
For the 🤡 trying to make out that it’s all Gibson park, Bundee and Lowe. There’s no doubt they’re epic - park and Aki are Irish citizens. They played the bulk of their rugby in Ireland at club level and what do you say about the Barretts who are of Irish descent. It’s a daft argument, this is a team sport. Lowe is a wing, his job is to touch down the ball. Aki is a centre. Team’s rebuilding but still competitive.
Mate am I the clown? I was simply celebrating how well the 3 kiwis played. If you’re ever able to discuss without the childish name-calling come back. It’s just sport mate.
@ my comment was not directed at you or anyone specific. It’s just funny that foreign pundits try to detract from the accomplishments of the team in a team sport sometimes. You would swear the only talent on the team wasn’t homegrown which is pretty daft. I see it on SA and NZ rugby posts a lot. Just a comment, no anger this side, just a bit frustrating.
Worry not about Ireland. GIBSON Parke and Bundis greatest gift are the young guys behind who' they helped so much. And Prendergast isn't the new guy Yes he's 21 but he's world class
Iteland don't look as strong as 9 months ago. More nervous watching them since autumn. Concerned that ireland camped yards from England line and came away with nothing.
Agree they were largely unimpressive during autumn tests. But still winning and that’s 1/2 the battle. SA don’t look great in every game, neither do us ABs. I can’t wait for Ire/France that’s the big indicator. And let’s see how Scotland front this weekend. Ireland are still right up there. I think us, Ire, France all chasing the Saffirs still. Just read on Google that Justin Marshall has noticed a new trend in the opening Six Nations round, teams using the cross kick pass to get outside the rush defence and that Razor could implement it into the All Blacks attacking mindset, hello, where have you been Marshall?... Beauden Barrett and Richie Mounga have been doing the cross kick pass for the last few seasons, particularly in Super Rugby and for the All Blacks, sorry Marshy bit slow mate ....
Damian did it twice vs England in Dunedin last year then it was largely abandoned by the ABs. I think he was talking about kicking into space, not to the player. Let’s see if the use of it increases during SR.
There’s the word “potential”. Both him & Marcus Smith have a heap of it. Would love both as “potential” ABs me! Thanks for the comment, please hit subscribe it really helps.
The kiwi boys might be shinning now or over the past few of years for Ireland, but they weren't shinning when they had the opportunity to crack the ABs, and that's the reality of it in a nut shell. Lowe was a fringe selection at best, but he wouldn't have been a permanent fixer, imo. The players they needed to oust were streaks a head and we're never going to be replaced unless something drastic happened. Even now I don't think Aki would make the ABs. Different style of player for our game plan.
Agree partly there mate. I think an Aki-style player in midfield is what we’re (still) missing. Our centre pairing since Ma’a retired has been very predictable and hardly ever busts the line.
@DevlinSportsPodcastNetwork Fair point. Nonu and Smith were always going to be a hard act to follow. From what I can see, Ireland structure their attacking play around running options in the centre channels and exploit the fringes once enough players have been sucked in, or they've broken through the centre chanel. A lot of that success is through getting quick ball from the ruck. The ABs negated that by competing in that area at the RWC and again last year. Thus allowing our backs to set and attack their runners. I think the ABs are on the right track and an Aki type player would only limit their attacking options. The rules have speed the game up a little bit more and the ABs I believe are still the fittest team in the world. The way forward in my opinion is a Jordy type player, maybe not necessarily Jordy in that position at the moment. Personally myself I'd like to see a backline of 9. Roigard, 10.Jordy, 12.Proctor, 13.L-Brown, 11.Ioane, 14.McKenzie, 15.Jordan. DMac floats in and out of the pivot role when Jordy is isolated. I like the fact that Richie Mo'unga is not coming home. It just forces someone to step up and stake their claim. It's always been our way. Theres enough raw talent in the NPC to draw from and someone will eventually put their hand up and most probably be the next Dan Carter. Thanks for the reply.
I found a lot of soft tries given away especially from wales and italy. italy are the luckiest side in the world. I bet if fiji were part of the 6 nations they would have upset teams a lot more. Englands team I found that their 9 and 10 are mile ahead of the rest of their side. they are actually very good for them but the rest of the side are not 'with it' meanwhile france and to a lesser extent Ireland who are going through a rebuilding phase are 'with it' everyone seems to be on the same page. BUT I FEEL soft tries all round from every side. I watched our excellent tries in 2024 video and yes I can see hope there for us, but I'll be looking for our defence to be extremely stingy in 2025 because all of the top 8 sides in the world are try scoring teams. This gift from england which to me is an upset that Ireland beat england is now a 5 nations tournament to lose, but yes france also the same thing.
Here’s the truth. The All Blacks in the last 5 years lose on average 3 or more tests a year. I think the total is 16 or 17? That’s not good enough for any AB side. We aren’t a great side. We haven’t been a a great side since 2016. On occasion we get up but that consistency doesn’t exist right now. I agree, 2025 we need to improve on last year and defence is where it starts.

Whaaaat? That period where they went 22-0 on the scoreboard was damn impressive. For first up hit out they weren’t bad. Look at how scratchy us ABs were vs England in our first 2 tests last year..
Prendergast looks slow to me: has he got the right physique to burn anyone? Was stood still several times while passing. Cant see that working for long at this level when guys like Beauden, Richie M, Marcus Smith etc are as quick as wingers
Jez lads please say the word Footie just once. Was great game Footie in Dublin with the kiwi guys. English back 3 weak fir two tries. Scotland will be harder test and closer result
I agree Ireland were the better team and deserved to win but when the game is played at this intensity it is vital the match officials are all on the ball. Please tell me why James dolman told o’keef itoje pushed the jumper at line out? If there was any contact, i f any, it was not enough to award a penalty. If o’keef warns the captains the next player to push/shove after whistle blown will be carded then why didn’t he yellow Lowe when he did exactly that moments later? I remember the french feeling hard done by in their quarter final against the boks when o’keef missed a number of bok offences. I know DuPont doesn’t rate him.
English fans are awful cry babies gave away 11 penalties to irelands 8 so only 3 in the difference,o keef went easy on yee consider yee spent all of first half offside, thats why the yellow card came, should have been more,if your relying on the ref to win you games, your in a sorry old state
@ don’t you wish you could write English to the same level as your understanding the laws of rugby? BTW remind me of the offside law? Meanwhile England were penalised 44% more. You have to include the free kicks.

So, when do the new Zealand born Pacific Island players with Pacific Island heritage get to become kiwis? Those Fijian, Tongan and Samoan players you talk about, a lot of them were either all born in NZ or came to NZ when they were kids and learnt all their rugby in NZ. They consider themselves to be kiwis. Will you be savaging those PI islands mentioned in your comment, because most of their players were born and raised in NZ or Oz? Your comment is childish, pathetic and insulting. People can always say no to the ABs and go play for their country of heritage, or the country where they were born.
Ireland rugby is buying into the hype, getting carried away. There were 3 Kiwis all over 30 years on Ireland’s starting team last Saturday - Bundee Aki (32), Jamison Gibson-Park (32) and James Lowe (32), plus Mack Hansen and Finlay Bealham, both Australians, so this year may be Ireland’s last chance for 6 Nations win as few good young Kiwis or Australians coming along!

Good analysis
Some English will tell you the most important Kiwi on the field was the ref, and yeah Lowe probably should have gotten a yellow but if O Keefe was reffing to the laws of the game to the letter there would have been more yellows for England too. I say well done to the ref for letting a niggly game flow and not going to the TMO every 90 seconds.
Agree. He has his on/off games does Ben but he does try & keep it flowing. Less TMO the better. Hit the subscribe for us matey it really helps, cheers Mart
No mention of Dan Sheehan??
That man was just ridiculous wasn't he. Like playing with an extra centre
@@Driver2616 France have a very limited wins the odd years... Since Italy admission in 2000, it happened only once in 2007... vs 5 times the even years.
Didn't turn up? They did turn up. And lost.
@@DevlinSportsPodcastNetwork 1/4 is not the issue ...the overall high-level consistency is what we are talking about.
Mate that’s a very very kind comment thank you.
Crowley over Prendergast all day - SP has the athleticism of a starved pigeon running on broken ankles

Hahahahahahaha I’ll pass that on mate! He’s back Monday reviewing Rd 2 6N. Click the subscribe button for us, that would be a huge help.
@DevlinSportsPodcastNetwork I'm in bro! Irish fan here but love ABs rugby have been getting up the crack of dawn since I was a young lad to watch super and championship!
Always thought Dawson was a 9 not a, 10.
🤔
Have love Justin Marshall very honest look give Ireland credit they got it right 2nd half wore down England. England were brilliant first half
Let him grow into it - for now Crowley has clearly earned the jersey
5:16 Bundee Aki is now an Irish citizen, he got citizenship last year 😅 his name is now Bundee Mckaki
I think only teir one nations to not have a single foreign born player right now are south Africa and Argentina.
We mention them bcos we’re proud of them mate! And a bit rueful how they are all much better players having left NZ!
@DevlinSportsPodcastNetwork Fair comment and rightly so, just not how most comments come across.
Yer marcus looks dangerouse. An great attackin kicker. Ireland look the buiseness few individual efforts good game. Cheers
Bundee is Irish citizen now.
Mentioning the New Zealanders involved, don’t forget the ref, he certainly had a vital aspect to the game overall.
Agree, England were so lucky O'Keefe kept his cards in his pocket despite England's endless penalties. He could've sent two or three English to the bin but kept it as a contest. Fair play...
10 penalties on their 5 meter line and one yellow! Yeah England got away with it
Good or bad? I thought Ben did fine.
100%. Wales when I started watching rugby in the 70s were our greatest rival outside SA. Thanks for the comment, hit the subscribe for us!
Ireland removed the handling errors, that was huge..
England have more registered rugby players than Ireland have people
England have 7.2+ million rugby players…. Yeah right 😂
Hahahahahaha is that a fact?? If England rugby really got their shit together we’d all have reason to be worried. But their admin makes the duffers at NZR look like they could split the atom.
Not happy about the leaking of tries near the end in the Ireland game. The score humbled England and the points difference could be important at the end. Thats a concern. A few old tired bodies out there.
Yeah give the Poms credit for keeping fighting. Ireland were dominant overall tho.
Going forward Prendergast has the highest ceiling with Jack on his tail keeping him honest. Both Sam and Jack are streets ahead of Frawley and will be our starting and back up 10 going forward.
bundee is a beast
The three Kiwis in the green jerseys won it for Ireland.
🥱
Please hit the subscribe that really helps, cheers Martin
It strange that people from the southern hemisphere seem to rate England higher than the people from within these shores.
Why is that do you think mate?
@
Listening to some of the comments from Justin Marshall and others.
Prendegast is the one irfu want as 10 young guy great player with the potential to match sexton
@DevlinSportsPodcastNetwork
Fair point.
Justin Marshall completely wrong about Scotland's attitude to Italy. We of all people have learned to respect Italy.
Gibson Park and Lowe have an Irish grandparent, therefore they are automatically entitled to Irish citizenship, regardless of their profession.
Everyone has Irish ancestors. Look at Obama
Listen we, NZ, have been nicking players for years from all over the…shhhh… we pretend no-one notices!!
@@DevlinSportsPodcastNetwork hate to say it the truth doesnt hurt cos we see it every time. I mean its obvious. so yes you're right. 'You gotta fight every day to keep mediocrity at bay' - Van Morrison

Ireland won the kicking game… they got man shamed by that English pack for most of the game 🎣
dominant ireland? not really until about 55 min mark even then its 1 try win, France vs wales was dominant, ireland just won they didnt even dominate last 20 as england scored twice! read a dictionary!
God the jealousy of england supporters is striking, well beaten by a far better team, they are always looking for excuses when they lose and the finger pointing starts, take it on the chin, the min it went 13v10 the game was over,2 consolation trys when the game was all but over are meaningless, cop on

Isn’t football round ball up your way?😂
I agree Ireland were the better team and deserved to win but when the game is played at this intensity it is vital the match officials are all on the ball.

No, but tries = more points than penalties. You're welcome.
I lived through growing up as an English youth in the late 60’s early 70’s. Please excuse me, I won’t be sending a tear over Wales.

england are awful. It is so great.
Ya Kiwis have the choice of Tonga Samoa Figi etc etc so don’t say anything to us about Bundee etc
As an Irishman, I made the comment even during the game, what would this team look like without the 3 kiwis?
Like the team that beat South Africa in South Africa
