    Having good control on a volley may be more important than any other aspect of the stroke. In today's lesson, Brady demonstrates how he controls his volleys in order to keep his opponents on the ropes.

    Best Dense, Concise, Understandable volley aiming videonon the internet. I've watched it 5 times and will watch it 5 more. Then, will spend hours on the ball machine just aiming videos, as I learned from observing an 87 year old opponent who beats me easily. thanks Brady.

    Thanks for this tip Brady and Mark. I like the outside and inside contact point idea. I guess, however, it's more of a singles play advice since in doubles you probably want to hit it away from the opposing net person, especially when volleying a low ball.

    Great lessons on Aim. You're funny how you mention your frustration trying to hit the cone.

    Thanks brady. I'll give the carving the outside of the ball on the higher forehand volloys. Oh, and great feeding by mark too. didn't miss a mark, tidy.

    Along with directional control on the volley, I think controlling pace, esp. on returning hard-hit balls using a slice is worth a mention. Sometimes, if I just block a screamer, it can fly long. And, on slower balls, remembering to aim slightly below the incoming ball to compensate for its tendency to fall is another point to consider.

      All good points George! I try to keep my videos to around 5 minutes so of course I can't touch on everything. Having backspin on your volley is vital.

    Great content! It’s always the little tips you throw out that make it work.
    Curving around the outside/inside makes all the difference on the high/low balls
    But.....hard to do on the high backhand volley

    As a left hander, when you say to hit the ball on the outside on a high ball and on the inside for a low ball, please discuss where these parts f the ball would be in relation to the left handed player and the court. Thanks.

      Sorry Alan I generally coach for right-handed players. Basically everything is the same but you have to flip the Deuce and Ad side of the court...or watch the video with a mirror :)

      Yes definitely lots more to discuss on the topic. I've demonstrated how to handle heavy spin at net in previous videos and will undoubtedly revisit the topic.

    Forget volleys. Who's that little kid behind you. She's got a nice swing.
    In all seriousness, I get so excited at the net I tend to hit volleys right back to opponents. I've recently concentrated on relaxing and aiming volleys. This video points out the most important aspect of aiming volleys. But, does footwork differ when going for those angles?

    • @DailyTennisLesson
      @DailyTennisLesson  7 років тому

      Footwork will remain the same on angle volleys. You only have some much time on a volley. Thanks Brad!

  • @billyetf
    @billyetf 7 років тому +1

    Nice video. Perhaps it would be interesting to mention what angle you hit the ball. It seems that is always a slice, more or less 45 degress top to bottom. Is that correct ?

    When it comes to volleys I struggle when it comes to serve and volley and finishing slow floating balls at the net.....especially with my backhand volley....any help???

      Watch Brady's vids again or try to not look at where the ball has gone for a count of 2 seconds in practice. I find this helps with all strokes but in particular on volleys. especially those I am trying to put away in one hit.

    How can I know faster whetch it is a forehand or backhand so as to prepare earlier?

    • @DailyTennisLesson
      @DailyTennisLesson  7 років тому +2

      Watch contact and as soon as you see the ball go in a certain direction get your racket set. No real tricks here.

    What's the best way to handle the high volley when the sun is in your eyes?

    • @DailyTennisLesson
      @DailyTennisLesson  7 років тому +2

      Play indoors :) Simply do the best you can. If you lose the ball you may have to back up and let it bounce if time allows.
