How to setup a ContourCut in Adobe Illustrator

Thanks , good info - what do you do if you have a flat image like png or non vector? How would you create a custom shape for the cut contour?

Thank you I just wish you would have a slight pause in between each segment of instruction

mine didn't outline the image it placed a box around it instead. I want it to cut around the star I have and the words in the logo
