I see a great opportunity here for DC.
Marvel has made a ton of money off practically unknown heroes like Guardians of the Galaxy. The advantage here is that there aren't a lot of fans to anger, so if you mess up the continuity nobody cares. You can do pretty much anything so long as it ends up as a good story. DC needs a GotG.
Back to the DC lineup, they can't exactly make a movie where they kill off Batman or Wonder Woman, can they? It would interfere too much with continuity. And when they killed Superman, you knew they would have to bring him back. You can only get away with that trick once, and they did that in the comics.
So where is DC going to get their own GotG?
DC has a team called the Challengers of the Unknown. It's pretty much the Fantastic Four, but it predates the FF by a few years.
DC could make the best FF movie ever, and just call it Challengers of the Unknown. Punch up their powers, add a bunch of crazy, and even the die-hard fans (there might be some) would be unable to predict the ending. Make it a stand-alone, as GotG was, and make sure none of the characters has plot armor. Any one of them could die at any moment fighting the weird alien threat or whatever.
And the threat needs to be super weird. A weird crazy ridiculously powerful and dangerous threat that will destroy the world in 5 days. Something like that.
And then you see the President saying, "Call in that favor." Next thing you know the CotU launch from their private missile silo or whatever invisible jet they use. It doesn't need to be canon. If they had a VTOL Blackbird like the X-Men, it could have gotten destroyed last week fighting "The Darkness" (no further details) and now they need to use their hover pods. This adds tragic backstory in 3 seconds with no special effects, and it raises the tension in the movie.
And also genius inventor prodigy teenager Danny Portman was killed in that battle. Who was that? Don't care. But now the audience knows these people could die and they're going out to face the unknown anyway.
Just like the movie "Everything Everywhere All At Once" was a better version of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, make Challengers of the Unknown a better version of the new FF movie.

John and Emily not being Reed and Sue will forever be the biggest missed opportunity in casting.

Paul Mescal is a year older than Tom Holland so they can easily do that relationship. Johnny is older than Peter in the comics.
I think Dr Strange's reference to the Fantastic Four charting in the 60s wasn't about the Fantastic Four comics, but about the music group that has a #6 hit on the R&B chart in 1967. It fits with his music trivia knowledge that they showed in the first Dr Strange movie
Stan used to call the Fantastic Four the "Fab Four" a lot in the comics...because it was a nickname for the Beatles at the time..he repeatedly did this throughout FF comics and it actually was quite a popular nickname...Fact

It wasn't the comics or some random band. It's because they were literally around in the 60's. They will get stuck and pop out in modern time.
I think the rumor of Adam Driver playing Reed Richards is a swerve and was started by Marvel in order to conceal his actual involvement as Dr. Doom. I would not surprise at all if John Krasinski resumed the role of Reed Richards. The MCU knows that they cant stop leaks and the best way to keep the element of surprise is to create a ton of confusion.

I believe that. If you can't get the rights from comics book or kirby's family for there dad's work and or stories. It would be difficult to find any version marvel/Disney can provide. Case in point Indy 5 movie.

I use to theorize that John K. Didn’t want to commit to so many movies but that marvel could also bring him back in a role that would require less appearances. They could have a variant of him be the maker and go against Adam driver

One movie was shocking but it makes sense marvel brought him in for fan service and replaced him with another actor that’s willing to be the character for longer.

I think anybody cast as doom should do a great Laterian accent and should also be an actor comfortable with not being seen for 98% of his screen time as he will be under a mask.
Big actors are too selfish for that kind of role, just look at Jennifer Lawrence playing Mystique but was basically just Jennifer Lawrence for 80% of her screen time. A big actor will want to be Dr Doom but will want to do it without wearing the mask.

Great choices from the most part, but as someone who really enjoyed Krasinki's performance I was a bit surprised and also confused by Driver's casting. I can buy into Driver being the brilliant scientist, but they've made clear that they intend F4 to lean into the "Marvel's first family" title as being a movie all about their family dynamic, especially with Matt Shakman reportedly directing as well, and I just don't buy into Driver as that father figure with his more "distant" acting style for the lack of a better word. Even if you didn't like him in Doctor Strange, I think Krasinski would've been perfect as that dad judging from his role in A Quiet Place. They must see something I don't though so I'm curious to see what Driver's performance will be like and if he can prove me wrong.

@@AFchris77 While that's true, I personally found him similarly distant and therefore not a great father figure in 65. Not saying there's no way to make it work, but on surface level it seems like a odd choice to make.
@@fukeiclozer2614 you should try watching White Noise and Marriage Story it might change your mind. Reed is also known for being kind of distant and even a jerk at times early on in the comics w Jack and Stan’s original run.
@@AFchris77 I have watched Marrige Story but I'll definitely give White Noise a try 👍 As for Reed though, while he has that jerk-ish and arrogant side to him in those runs there was usually still that warmth within that I don't see Driver bringing to the character as of yet, but who knows, White Noise might change my mind.
I’m not a time travel fan but having them originate in the 60s then disappear could be used to great effect. They could have known about SHIELD and maybe even have met Peggy Carter.

at this point, the rumors are really just seriously annoying me just cause this is by far one of the most scared franchises marvel has done with casting

Great video Charlie as always, 1. If Dr. doom is also from the 1960s how are they going to explain him being showing up now if he not going to be a big part of the movie? 2. If they fought galactus in the 1960 how will they explain no one ever talking about a giant devour of worlds trying to eat the earths back in the 60’s not saying ot can’t be done but it seems like a stretch. Is there any theories about this? Can’t wait for the next video!!!
My theory is that this version of the Fantastic Four is from the Ultimates universe. They had a darker,tougher version of Reed, which would explain Adam Driver being cast….And because he was ruthless during incursions, the Ultimate universe was the last universe standing vs 616 in Secret Wars. 🤷🏼♀️
The entire Marvel Universe can now breathe a sigh of collective relief that this group casting is finally done. As it has hung over our heads for too long in anticipation. I still wanted John Krasinski though!
Paul Mescal was incredible in Aftersun and would recommend it to everyone. I can’t wait to see what he does here. And Adam and Margot can easily switch between comedy and drama. I think they’ll be great.

Fun Fact: Every member of the Fantastic Four in the mainline comics, yes even Ben and Johnny, are legit geniuses. Sue Storm for example has no less than three doctorates. Reed however, is a literal super-genius, even prior to getting his powers.

We've been waiting so long to find out who would be on the new iteration of the Fantastic Four. Now that we know, I want to see them in action! Probably won't until 2025 though
Very excited to see these upcoming planned films. Though I am 60 and am hoping they stay on track without prolonging them for too long as I'd like to be alive to see them all make it to production.
Adam Driver is amazing but I think John Krasinski was a better option for the role. Nonetheless I'm super excited for the new F4!!
Not really. If anyone can play the smartest man in the room, it’s Adam Driver. He’s done it in several of his past movies so the casting completely makes sense.

I said it when I heard Adam Driver was going to be Reed Richards, and I'll say it again with the rest: They could be unexpected, incredible, dark horse, Heath-Ledger-blowing-it-out-of-the-park level awesome for these roles with what they're planning, but it really does nothing to make me interested. And I was really really excited that they might finally do a great Fantastic Four movie. Again, I could be wrong. Just have to see.

The issue with Adam Driver and Reed Richards becoming a staple leader is his character is being introduced way too late. It'd feel weird if he was suddenly a big impact. What made the Infinity Wars saga great was we got to see our main characters at the very beginning. F4 coming in, in the last phase? That's way too late. It seems Marvel has a plan, but I just can't see F4 playing an "Avenger" type role. More of a GOTG role, really.
The only way it could work well this late in my mind is if they make it so that Reed Richards really used to be considered the smartest man in the world, but that their space flight happened before the MCU and that it is only now that they return back to earth with their cosmic powers.
They could go right into Dark Reign and John Hickmans run of F4.
They could chalk it all up to Reed already finding the council of Reeds.
Deciding that all the events that happened with the Avengers were better off without himself.
Honestly the whole thing is a stretch. The new phase is about the replacement avengers which has no room for original F4.
Real issue is Adam and Margot are great but THEY WOULD COST EASILY $20-$40 MILL

Emily Blunt and her husband John Krasinski, would have made alot of sense as serious they are. Though with Robbie hope she portrays the character as Sue Storm seriously, not for the writers or directors to sort of to want her to act jokingly, bubbly or foolishly in a sense, that's all.

my MCU X-Men fan theory:
keep First Class, Days of Future Past, Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix, Deadpool 1 & 2, New Mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline as there is a massive gap between 1963-1995
with the Dark Phoenix cast appearing in Deadpool 1&2, these films can happen after the events of Dark Phoenix and since Essex Corps is referenced in New Mutants, this could happen in the Dark Phoenix timeline
after these events, Professor X uses Cerebro to convince the world that mutants don't exist and erase any new mutant activities from people's minds whenever one is witnessed. however the only person who knows is Nick Fury, who agrees with Professor X to keep tabs on any new mutant activity. this is also referenced in a deleted scene from Iron Man 1, when Nick mentions X-Men
the X-Men can work in secret between 1992 up until Endgame. when Tony Stark snaps his fingers, the mind stone reverses the effects of Professor X's actions. resulting in the public now remembering who the X-Men are
as for Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, Hydra's meddling with the mind stone prematurely reversed Professor X's actions, as it was mentioned that the mind stone unlocks dormant abilities already present in the brain
my theory brings the Dark Phoenix X-Men cast into the MCU, thus eliminating the need to recast the entire X-Men team. the actors are young, they've expressed interest in returning and continuing their roles. it's an option for Marvel Studios to do that
I've explained my theory to a lot of people, most of whom say it works. others say it won't work and demand i should forget everything about the Fox X-Men films and be happy with what Disney/Marvel Studios are going to do with the X-Men
I will probably receive a lot of negative feedback about my theory, nothing is set in stone, if Marvel Studios can bring back JK Simmons as J Jonah Jameson, why won't they bring back the Dark Phoenix cast?
there are multiple websites that support my theory, along with the Iron Man 1 deleted post credit scene. not only that, something similar happened in the comics (Robert Reynolds/Sentry and Gabriel Summers/Vulcan)
since Days of Future Past rewrote the timeline, X-trilogy/Wolverine trilogy no longer take place as the ending to Dark Phoenix doesn't connect to the original trilogy, leaving it open for possible future sequels. as I mentioned, the Dark Phoenix cast could return and continue

as I've mentioned, in my X-Men MCU timeline, Mystique dies and Quicksilver dies after Avengers 2. the other X-Men characters I don't mind recasting, as long as they keep the cast I mention above aswell as try to follow my fan theory
I do wish they would have started with Dr doom as main villain. They have a chance to make doom a complex and compelling character, but that takes time. Kind of like they did with Loki
Nearly everyone has been waiting for ages for Galactus to show up in the MCU, kinda like Mephisto lol Especially after The Eternals so I think it's better we get Galactus first, then Dr. Doom. I kinda wish they'd get Silver Surfer in there somewhere too.
Also, doesn't Dr. Doom have connection to BP as well or am I wrong? 🤔 Maybe he can get a cameo there first, before going at it with the F4 later on. 🤷🏻♀️

Was never that into Fantastic 4, so I looked up Reed Richard’s personality: "intelligent, calm, and detached. Reed strives to be scientific and methodical in everything that he does. This dispassionate personality creates a sense of distance between him and his comrades - but there is no doubt that Reed loves every member of his team and would do almost anything for them." That sounds way more like Adam Driver than John Krasinski to me. No sure why everyone seems to think otherwise. Plus, Driver has way more range than people give him credit for. Could have also been a great Dr. Doom, but I bet he’s tired of playing a character behind a mask most of the time. I think he’ll be a great Mr. Fantastic.
His acting skills were never in doubt. It's that kisser of his everyone is complaining about. He's been hit by that ugly stick a few too many times.

Personally, I don't like either of them for the role, but at least John looks the part. I'll never find him convincing as the "smartest man alive," but he's got the family man vibe down. We'll see how Adam Driver performs the part, I guess.
Behind the mask, nobody in the MCU keeps their mask on. Moonknight has his mask on for like a total of 15 minutes, spiderman takes his off nearly everytime he talks, the last antman movie, same thing, everytime Kang , antman or wasp talked, masks came off.
Krasinski could pull off the smart persona, he just wasn’t given enough screentime and the script was off.

The leader stretches like bubblegum and somehow it's also serious? It's the lamest superpower that belongs in animation like The Invincibles where it works as a visual pun "mom's are stretched too thin".
Not too serious though. I think one of the problems with the Fox Fantastic Four movie was it was way too much exposition and not enough action. Science is fun and all, but we want some clobberin time too lol.
Oh man Adam Driver I have enjoyed every film i've seen of his.

Galatius sounds very close to something else when I sounded it out 😂
There is no lead up to Galactus. He just shows up. That’s part of what makes him so terrifying, you never know when Galactus might pop up and devour your world.
Daveed in Hamilton is crazy good, it seems like a so-unexpected-it-can-be-amazing-casting (...and yeah, it can also go the other way haha), but of these it is the one im most curious about

Knowing Adam Driver as an actor, and seeing his work, Reed Richard's and what type of emotion adam can do I am very interested to see his version of Reed

If anyone is curious about Paul Mescal I highly recommend checking out the Hulu series Normal People. The character he played is very similar to Johnny Storm imo, but if you may need subtitles to watch cause it is an Irish series and the actors have strong accents.

I'm still not fully behind Driver as Reed Richards, but I'm also not a huge fan of his, I do know he's an excellent actor. Margot Robbie is a good choice for Sue, Jessica Alba was not a good one, she tried. Daveed Diggs and the other guy I don't know much about. I guess we'll see.

I’m disappointed that John Krasinski wasn’t cast as Mr Fantastic but I do like Margo Robbie as the Invisible Woman.
It’s a smart move for Margot Robbie to take the role of Sue Storm. The Fantastic Four has a longer run coming in the MCU. Robbie’s Harley Quinn will probably be wrapping up at DC and the original DCEU actors don’t have job security with the Gunn changes.

@@dearmimi1072 it's genuinely getting tiresome. I saw someone in these comment suggest Giancarlo Esposito for Dr. Doom. Like, could he play an amazing Doom? No doubt, but he's the epitome of oversaturated, especially for villain roles.
Now that James Gunn is the captain of the DC ship a Marvel vs DC crossover event is more possible than ever. He left Marvel with the best movie since Endgame and a event like this can only help both brands. When it comes to superhero movies the rising tide lifts all ships

I would love to see a more serious fantastic 4 movie with darker undertones especially now that we're getting a dark reign plot with secret invasion armor wars daredevil born again captain America 4 ECT. Leading to kang dynasty and secret wars i can't wait am so pumped i hole this writers strike ends soon so we can get announcements for everything coming in HAll H at San Diego Comic-Con
You mention the theory of an out of universe team that was also originally a pitch that Peyton Reed wanted for the Fantastic Four reboot where they came from an alternate universe but he wanted a 1960s comic book Universe where they stumbled into the MCU on accident

This casting is pretty solid i definitely like the approach they're taking with Reed, but damn he better watch out for Namor because you know he's gonna try to rizz up this Sue Storm 😆

She also has an affair with Tchalla.

Daveed might be the breakthrough performance here. Also considering that all of the cast are terrific performers you can see the banter between the family being epic.
Cilian Murphy post-oppenheimer might be an amazing Doom. Although deep inside I would love for DiCaprio to play Doom.
