Man you are a genius, spent 3 hrs trying to pry the axel out, both axels were the same and wouldn't move... 3 tries on both sides using your method and both popped out!!! Thanks man, that's an awesome tip!!!
Your welcome!
@@bundysgarage bad luck , it’s not worked for me 😟 trying to remove cv axle bracket last bolt I have to remove catalytic converter Iam trying again now your method Should work but I don’t know why it’s not working for me 😖😖😖
@@Sroor2023 didn't work for me either 😡
Same here 😂😂 I wish I watched this earlier
Could I heat the opening up to try and expand it ? And then pull it out that way
Bruised, bloody and absolutely OVER IT, I took one last swipe through youtube and stumbled upon this godsend of a video and was gifted a golden nugget of your expertise. My busted half shaft will be cleaned and used as a chalice with which I shall toast to your good health.
Exactly how I felt this man is a godsend
I’m currently feeling this pain with cuts and bruises
My knuckles hurt so much. If this doesn’t work tomorrow so help me god
Relatable
From this point when got it partially I would’ve jacked it and used a pry bar
Tired, broken, and frustrated? This video will save you. Thank you for posting this video. You are a good man.
Howd you cut off the boot i dont have any metal cutters but ill do whatever it takes including buying more tools to get this thing the hell out of my car. Have already ripped off the cv axle with an axle puller and have the half shaft stuck in there and can go buy vice grips
I just finished changing the cv axle on my 2018 drivers side Nisan Altima, you know, the one that's just supposed to just pop out. Well, it didn't pop out, it didn't pry out and I'm working on in my car port on the ground and was about to give up and take it to a shop last night when I saw your video. I cut a slit in the boot up against the cup of the inner bearing holder with just enough room to fit the head of vise grips. I was going to give it a couple of test tugs and on the first tug it popped out. My life is complete.
Glad it helped you out! I know that feeling of frustration and defeat and then when it pops out, oh boy, what a relief!!!! 😮💨
This trick is one of the best I've seen on youtube. Saved me a ton of headache and repair bills. Thanks a ton!!
I fought tooth an nail last weekend getting mine unstuck. Used the vice grip trick first try this morning and it popped right out. I almost didnt believe it happened. You're a genius sir, thank you for sharing your big brain tricks

Blood sweat no tears been here 2 hours trying thank god you posted this video got it done in 5 smacks god bless u man
Bundy, this is ingenious. I can’t believe it didn’t work for you. I was a little downcast after I watched your video and your shaft did not come out. I tried it anyway, and my shaft popped on the second pull. I can’t thank you enough! (Yes, I said my shaft popped on the second pull…:)-
Thank you so much, I finally got my passenger side axel out with your solution. I tried prybars, slide hammer, cv axle popper forks and nothing would budge it. It took me about 45 minutes today to get it out this way. Anyone still having problems doing it this way, what worked for me was pull it like 3 or 4 times, rotate the cup like an inch and pull it like 3 or 4 times and repeat, on the 3rd turn I got it out on like the 3rd pull and I wasn't pulling very hard because I didn't think it was going to work. All in I probably spent 12 hours trying to pull this damn thing out and I got it out in under an hour with this trick. Thanks so much.
Glad I looked this up instead of spending a few hours trying to pry it out. Definitely saved me a lot of time and frustration.
Just did this on my 99 Honda CRV and it worked like a charm! Three pulls and it was out! Super helpful!!
So after 3 hours of blood and sweat, where I gave up not only my car but also my life, I found this video, you saved me, thank you, you don't know how much this helped me. May God give you happiness and love!!

Brother it worked for me and I was feeling discouraged 😅 until I came across your UA-cam channel saved my day 🙏 thanks
Hours had past, I had tried everything and was in time crunch. Almost gave up . But like most of the people who found this video, I took one last look through UA-cam. I was blessed to find this video and in two swipes it was out. Thank you for making this video. God bless
Glad I could help

Same here - Thanks SO much... spent ages trying to do this, didn't have a slide hammer, spent ages prying and trying to get it out. Had to put it all back together that day. Saw your video that night and did it with your method the next day in 10 seconds. Life saver - praise be to UA-cam!
If I could give more than 1 like I would. This project started with me replacing the knuckles and led me to replacing an axle. This helped immensely
Glad it helped you out!

@bobthebuilder9416 I don't remember that well, but I think i just used some pliers but in a pinch, you could maybe pry the metal ring off with a flat head. I think I remember taking a knife to the rubber boot
@@Srhuevos i found some screws ons on Amazon thank u
Listen, it was Thanksgiving even and I decided to replace the axle since it came in two days early on my Mazda 3. It broke off. I looked at so many other videos then came across yours. It came out after 5 pulls. You’re a LEGEND and a life saver especially since everywhere is closed today. Thank you so much!!!!
Glad it helped you out! Happy Thanksgiving!
@keketv860 was it the driver side or passenger side 🤔. I have the same car and my passangers side is giveing me hell.😊
@@BTKKILLER1 I had this issue. Passenger side has a bracket with three bolts (14 or 15mm I think) that needs to be removed first. It’s halfway down the axle. It’s a bitch to get the top bolt (it’s in a triangle formation). You’ll need a swivel head and an extension.
Holy moly! Thank god I found your tip!! It worked. Spent hours trying to pry the stuck cv axle on my kids 2013 passat. After 15 seconds of using your tip, popped right out! I really appreciate the time you took to share this tip! Saved dollars and saved learning new cuss words!
Hey Bundy, seriously like Phil just said. So I have been working on pulling out my passenger side CVX out of our 2013 MDX and have been working on it for the past 3 hours (morelike 3.5 hours) and nothing... would work to get these thing out. The half shaft got stuck, and I used pryer bars, and nothing... I just discovered your video and removed the grease, put the bearings back on the end of the shaft and put it back inside the half shaft, clamped down with my Milwaukee Torque Lock Curved Jaw Locking Pliers and pulled and guess what? it came out on the FIRST pull!!!!!!!!!!!! Dude, you rock..... Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like others here took one last swipe through UA-cam looking for a solution to this problem. Two pulls and it popped out, after spending an hour or more cursing at it. You saved me 70 bucks for a slide hammer kit. Thank you.

@@bobthebuilder9416 it’s been a minute since I did this job. Cut it with a knife unless you’re trying to save the boot for some reason. I am thinking you can pop the clamp holding the boot with a flat head screw driver. Otherwise I’d buy a pair of tin snips.
@@chadehresman6952 okay thank u so much ill try it later this week
Man what a lifesaver. I was stuck with no place to go. On a 2002 Dodge Caravan that inner CV joint is recessed up in there where you can’t even use one of those special tools however your method works like a champ. I can’t say thank you enough I really appreciate it
Oh man THANK YOU. I've been fighting with this exact issue for about a day and a half with a 2015 Honda Civic EX and this actually solved the problem. Really appreciate the video man. Saved my day.
Ok. I'm another happy amature mechanic. I tried for hours. Prying, banging, rotating the stuck piece (like one of my favorite youtube honda mechanics suggested). Nothing. I tried this first with grease still on the part and the plyers fell off. Then I made a "clean" spot, repositioned the vice grips and "hammered" it this way about 12 times then pow! It fell right out! Only took about 15 minutes. Thank you! Now I can complete this "realitively easy" job! 👍
Glad it helped you out!

@@bobthebuilder9416I think the rubber boot came off when the axel seperated because I had a broken lower ball joint. If I needed to I think I would have cut the rubber boot (with tin snips, scissors, etc) which for me was ok because I was installing a new axel assembly.
Dude this is the single greatest most helpful mechanical video I have ever seen thank you so much
Nice tip Mr. Bundy. I had a hell of a time getting mine out of the drivers side Honda Accord. I still have the old axle so now I’m glad I kept it to use if I have trouble in the future. Artie 😊
This is the method that worked for me! Thank you for the video! Saved me so much time after already spending six hours trying to get it out
This was a life saver for me, I had tried to remove my cv axles for many hours and nothing worked, then I tried that and it worked instantly
I don't ever comment but this saved my FREAKING LIFE. Nothing was working but this got that boy loose almost immediately!
Thx for the comment and I’m glad it helped you out! I know the frustration of trying to get one these out when it’s stuck and then the victory that washes over you when it pops out!!!

YOU ARE THE BEST . THANKYOU BUNDY GARAGE ! . I PASS A HOLE DAY TRING TO REMOVE PRYING OUT AND EXPEND MONEY ON TOLLS THAT DONT DO SHI3T . 5 MINUTES , 5 FOK1NG MINUTES LIKE THAT AND THE PART WAS OUT . GENIUS YOU ARE THE MEN
Improvement on your method: Part of the problem in getting these things off is the offset force applied by either a prybar or your method. Try putting a visegrip on each bearing (three visegrips), equalizing the load on the axle.
Good point.
Or take the visegrip and and undo it and move it around so all the sides get the same amout of force
Wow, I fought my broken cv, then I saw your video. Popped out the cv on the second pull. What a life saver, thank you!
This is genius!! Spent 3 days trying to pry my axle out. No friends have had the tool or an idea to remove it. Didnt wanna buy the tool just for a one time use. Thank you for sharing you're great idea!!💯🤙🏽👌🏽
Just wanna let you know I’m commenting right now because you deserve the credit man I was lost and beyond being completely over taking this axle out so I looked up your video and the vice grip trick worked like a miracle thanks man I appreciate it. Please keep making more content.👌🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Brother, I cannot begin to thank you enough for this ingenious idea. I was truly defeated upon finding this video which gave me the hope to try one last time. It took a good 15 pulls but that SOB finally gave. Free 99 FTW
My dad was struggling with the broken cv joint on his 2001 Toyota Corrola for about an hour.I found this video for him.He ran and got his vice grips. He got it out in 30 seconds. Thanks for sharing.
Hey bud you are a genius ain't nothing like the old school way. I spent hours trying to pull mines out. Then when I saw your video I remembered that's how my grandfather usually get broken axle out. Free 99 baby love you man keep making more videos like this.
Glad it helped you out!
I have to say, this worked like a charm on a Chrysler Sebring I’ve been working on for a co-worker! I’m so glad I watched this vid! The problem was caused by a ball joint on the LCA pulling the CV out, and it’s been some other problems. I pulled like 3 times and got that end out. This was magic! MA-JIC!!!!
Hell Yeah!!!!
I spent most of my day trying to get one out. I decided to search for another way on youtube. First method did not work. Second method involved me having to go buy a slide hammer.
Then I found this video. 3 yanks and it came right out.
Thanks a bunch for the tip!
Glad you got it out!!! I know the feeling of frustration and wanting to get on with your day and fix your car.
Howd you cut off the boot i dont have any metal cutters but ill do whatever it takes including buying more tools to get this thing the hell out of my car. Have already ripped off the cv axle with an axle puller and have the half shaft stuck in there and can go buy vice grips
The boot is rubber. I cut mine with a box cutter and a fresh blade
@@virider7466 great thanks
Wow, this method was a life saver. Spent a couple hours trying to pry and wiggle it out until I gave up. Then I stumbled upon your video and gave this a try and it came out after a couple of minutes. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thank god i found this video! When all else failed, this ended up working within 5min
I know your pain.
You sir are a saint for this, was struggling for hours with a sledge and pry bar and all it took was a few tugs with this method. Thank you!!
Best tip so far I've seen...did driver's side already on a 06' Kia Sedona, the passenger side is being a pain...about to try this. Thank you!!
Thank you so much, I spent 2 hours trying to get the CV releases before watching your video and had it out in 3 plunges with the old axel... So smart...
This did the trick for me. I let PB blaster sit for about an hour beforehand, and after about 3 pulls, the axle came out easy peasy. I rented a slide hammer just in case, but I didn’t even need it!
Hell yeah!!!
I just want to tell you how much I really appreciate you and your awesome video. Just did mine today using your method and brother you 're method works like a champ...very simple and easy....no more frustrations and yes I don't even need those expensive tools. You're a genius! and brother Thank you so much and God Bless You!!!
Brother. Wow. You are a TOTAL and COMPLETE genius. Like Phil Brown below, I spent the better part of 3-4 hours trying to get that remaining piece out of the transmission after it decided to stay behind and just let go of the rest. I was trying to come up with anything I could think of, but the Hulk inside me would not abide! Thrown tools, a 30ml bottle vaped in that three to four hours, and a screw-it attitude ALMOST got me...YOUR VIDEO WAS AWESOME AND YOU SAVED ME SOME REPAIR COSTS ON STUFF THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT WAS GOING ON AT THE TIME! Thank You, Man!
Glad it worked out for you!
Man, I did this and it worked on the 3rd pull! Your a lifesaver. Learned a awesome trick today
It has single handedly saved me money and time, and from the bottom of my heart, I can't thank you enough good sir. thank you
My husband couldn’t get this shft thing out for a whole day i watched ur video and not even 20sec he got it!!!! Thank you soooo much!!
You saved my life. I spent 3 days to remove that shit from my odyssey and your technique was successful on second pull. Amazing!!
I know your pain bro!
Man. Where was this at a month ago??? haha. FML. I was able to get it but pure hell and took two days. I looked all over for a video. I did not even think about this. Also. Mine was separated and off but inner was seized by retainer clip. All I had to do was put it back and put a vice grip. Never thought about that? Ughh. Had never had this happen like it has on this Sentra prior. Fml. Great stuff man. I would add some tags to make it easier to find PLEASE 😆 👏🏼. I noticed in the video you are about one hood pull away, you had already kicked lose the retainer ring. I could tell you had so I knew it was coming any second and you stopped lol. I was waiting for you to bust a knuckle bad or something like you butt and off went the video. Oh well. Great idea. I will be using if needed. Thank man
This worked for me, after trying other ways for a long time. Found this and I was able to get it out in five minutes. Thank you
You saved my bacon on my 09 Scion. I absolutely tryed every tool..all failed to remove the stuck axle shaft. This method worked the first try. Thanks for posting this video! 👍👍
First try using this method after hammering for 2 hours and it worked beautifully 🙌🏽 thanks man
I cannot thank you enough. I spent forever on the drivers side and finally got it. Then the passenger side did the same thing and thankfully I came across this video and it saved me so much time
You saved me from taking a sledge hammer to the entire car! lol seriously though I was debating going to buy/rent a tool or possible even just bringing it to a shop.. I was just so frustrated and over it, thanks this video I got it out in about 3 minutes. Thank you so much Sir!!
That's handy to know, I struggled with an 06 Focus CV axle years ago just trying to pull it out.
Also, a fellow sandal/flip-flop wearer, rock on!
Thanks bro I was ready to put a match to it, you know how it is when you bust a couple cold fingers trying to pry something out. My car thanks you, my neighbors thank you and I thank you, did it just like you did and it popped out on the first try thanks again man I'll be looking for your how to O's when I run up on another mess, this is the most helpful video I've ever watched. Don't mean this in a bad way but I thought I was the only one this stuff happened to lol. Have a good one man, thanks again
This worked so well. Three pulls on the the 'axle shaft slide hammer' and out it came. Thank you so much.
You Sir are a blessing from god 😂 been working on this CV for 2 hours and this worked in 45 seconds! Thank you!
Thanks it really helped my hands are sliced everywhere then I saw this god sent this really works
You are my HERO! Definitely GENIUS idea...tried it about 4 Yanks and boom she came out..... thank you thank you!!!!
I had been trying for like two days and it didn't work and with your engineering it came out quickly.😂 thanks
I know your pain!!! Glad it popped out.
Thank you this was perfect, no need for fancy tools! Saved my ass from sending to a shop. Now i have the confidence to fix the other axle! Bravo sir!
Thank you! This just saved me soooo much extra struggling and effort. Just wish I looked it up 45 minutes sooner. Haha.
Your a life saver. Spent a whole day trying to remove CV axle. Went and purchased an axle puller/hammer slide and that didn’t work either. Did this method and in one pull it just slid out.
I was routing for you I had the same problem. Came in and watched your video went out and it worked right away. Thanks for your help
THANK YOU! I HAVE BEEN STUCK ON GETTING THIS BLASTED THING OUT FOR 3 DAYS
THIS SHOULD BE THE FIRST RESULT
Thank you so much. Surprisingly this worked extremely well. I purchased a slide hammer with a cv axle attachment that didn't fit. This did the job in about 10 pulls.
Hi. Your method worked great on my 2002 Taurus cv axle. I could not get any leverage / clearance to pry the socket out and then I remembered this video. One good pull on the shaft and - out it popped. Brilliant! For those viewers having trouble with this method, I suggest trying to rotate the spindle inside the socket ( may have to put the ignition in ON position and use the tire on the other side to allow the rotation.) This changes the position of the securing ring at the spline’s end. I did not have this problem but I read that other commenters did. These types of UA-cam auto repair tips and techniques are invaluable for us DIY guys. Thanks.
Glad it helped you out!
Was just fighting my 2005 pilot for two hours, was bout to give up and seen this and it came out in a matter of minutes. Great video !!!!
Feels good once it finally “pops” out! Hell Yeah!
Just wanted to say thanks. I was getting ready to weld a makeshift slide hammer and came across your vid. Worked like a charm and hats off to you good sir!
Bro. You. Are. A. Lifesaver! I've been struggling for an hour half on this. After about 5 minutes of this, I got it out.
I feel your pain! Glad you got it out.
Yep, that was the way to do it on the drivers side CV joint of my 2005 Town and Country! Life saver video. Thank you so much for the advice!
Because of your video I was able to get my CV axle off on the side of the road I already had my spare in the car and I was going nowhere but because of you in this video and the mind God gave you I was able to fix my problem
I tried the sliding hammer with the grip adapter and no luck. The threads on the adapter and the locking pliers strip. With your method it worked so fast after many weeks of trying. Thank you so much !!!
Bundy it is safe to say you really outdid yourself with this video,I was struggling with a 2010 Acura Tl for hrs even rented the slide hammer tool md nothing.called it a night, watched a couple videos but nun like this ,tried it next morning got it out within 30 seconds or 5 pulls💯deff works💯
You’re the man!!! I was so frustrated with the CV on the passenger side of my 07 accord v6. I spent 5 minutes banging on it with your method and out she came. Lubed the new one and slit it right on. Before I tried your trick, I spent a hour trying to pry it but could not get any kind of pry tool in there. Thanks again man!!!!
my friend being struggling doing this and i started to searching on youtube and find your video 🤣 u are lifesaving
Have to say that this came in handy for me. Could not get a CV axle puller on my Nissan Altima 2012 SR model. A little PB Blaster then used your vise grip method and SUCCESS!! Thanks for posting.
Took me 3 hours to pry the crap out of the passenger side and told myself theirs gotta be a better way. I watched your video and man it saved me more time from getting all those bruises from tight spaces when I did this method to do the driver side.
Thank you very much sir !
actual 200 iq move. I have a tribute with a "seized" driver cv axel. been pounding for 2 days with no room to work (no lift). came inside after hitting the 10th brick wall to watch ur video and 5 minutes later she was off.
thanks alot buddy have a great day
Glad you got it off. Can’t believe how stuck some of those can be! Makes you want to rip out your hair.
I don't go to church anymore, but this time I'm gonna say thank you Lord. Almost all day going back and forth to Advance auto and their ineffective methods. Two pulls and it's out. Thank you sir for downloading this video.
You are welcome my Son!
Wow!! I literally went on UA-cam to figure out what fancy tool I needed to order and this video absolutely saved me! I only had to tug five times and it was out!
This helped me tremendously. This was my first go around ever cause I am not mechanic but I was able to use this technique!
Glad it help you out.
Woo! Thank you very much for thinking outside the box, and then sharing it! This worked within 10 strikes on the driver side of a 2010 Nissan Altima 2.5sl CVT.
After watching your video I was able to get mine removed. I used pry bars for like a hour with no luck. A few strong pulls on the axle with you setup and it popped right out. Thanks.
It came out so quickly using this method. One tug. So little at and not much leverage with up on jack stands. I even pushed with my leg. Several hours wasted until i found this video. Thanks Bundy!
Glad it helped you out!
Me and the boys fought with a cv axle for my lancer for about 4ish hours and I opened up UA-cam and had it off within 5 minutes after watchin your video, great job bro 🤝
most intelligent, creative, thinks for ones self solution I've seen so far. Mine's still stuck but. But well done you Mr Bundy.
Hours a cold garage floor, cant get the door shut, snow pouring in, no heat, beating the snot out of the thing trying to get it loose and your tip got it out in 3-4 whacks. I am amazed and humbled.
Thank you!
At least it wasnt 100 degrees like it is here in florida today 😂...i was defeated and now I have a glimmer of hope and a dream.
Did it work for you?
This trick worked like a charm after much fighting and prying ..
definitely works using old axle as a slide hammer !!!!Thank you ..I set it up with the old axle and vise grips and after some failed attempts (guess I'm not strong enough)I grabbed my daughters bf and had him do it and it came right out !!
@MelissaGabbert glad it helped you out!
THANK YOUUUUU‼️‼️‼️‼️ it freaking worked the second I did it. May the lord bless you!!!
Life saver! spent hours tryna pry out the axle til i came across this method. thanks!
Was pulling on mine for 30 minute and literally took 2 hits to come out, my man👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh my God you want to see a grown man cry? sitting there with your entire suspension disassembled a car on jack stands on a Saturday afternoon and you have to replace the CV axle and it will not come out!!!!!!!!!! you will see a grown man cry because I was practically in tears because I did not know how to solve this problem and your trick worked on the first pull so thank you this is by far the most useful UA-cam video I've ever seen in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great tip! I used two sets of vice grips to even the pull, popped rite out. Thanks
This works guys!! I was struggling for 3 days trying to get my cv axle out of the transmission, tried this and it popped right out on the second pull. Thanks so much my man
It worked first time I tired it on a 98 Plymouth breeze.. thank u so much for sharing and helping others
I was fighting a cv axle for an hour and could not get it to move, love taps, pry bars etc. just wrestling the thing. I grabbed an old pair of vice grips tore the boot open and gave this a try and I think it was only three slides and it came right out, smooth like butter. So grateful for this solution and the price was right :D
Glad it helped you out!
You saved my day! Wasn’t able to use other tricks in Toyota Landcruiser. I was already almost giving up because of lack of tools. This was good trick!
