My grandfather jumped a train Christmas Eve 1928, he was missing for 92 years, through 23and ME he has been found.
Grandpa started a second family and changed his name, now we found out we have many first cousins, our family just got bigger !!!!!!!

My friend found her birth mother immediately when her results came through. Her uncle was a 1st level connection and she messaged him to inquire. He immediately knew it was the baby his sister had given up and the next morning, my friends birthday she woke to a phone call from her half sister with her mother waiting to be put on the line. She’d been to nervous to call herself.

I remember you, Littlebit! We're a small match. You were always so helpful on the old forum. I'm locked out of 23andMe now -- I changed computers. Your story is lovely :-)

Oh my goodness that sweet kiss on her temple. Something my granny would do. I miss her so much. All these beautiful women look similar to her. This video made me cry.
Even with everyone's DNA done, my family is still tiny. These people are lucky.

I've been doing my family geneology for two years now & I've been very lucky to find lots of my family dating back to the 1700s. One thing is for sure, the depression wrecked havoc on many families. Families moving away looking for work & loosing track of other family. Kids being left at orphanages because the parents didn't have enough food to feed them. Parents died. Fathers abandoned the family. I saw it in my family. It explained so much as how it affected current family.

This is a such a heartwarming story, and I am shocked how people even think to dislike this story.
Why did you do that? What people from video have done to you that you are so negative?

Well I found my 1st cousins just by using the internet. I sent them some pictures of their side of the family. I got an email saying thks for the pics but never heard back. A few yrs later, I saw my uncle died (their father) and the obit stated every family member but my parents and me. I just replied I was sorry to hear about Uncle Johnny and loved all the pics of cousins I have never seen. Still never heard from them. Not all family reconnections are wanted.

I know, my 6 cousins found out that they have an older 1/2 brother. It's been a few years now for a few of them there was some slight curiosity and even though they know his name and where he lives there has been no effort to contact him. That puzzles the heck out of me and my siblings.

I had tears in my eyes seeing this story. It gives me hope. Steve Paul mentioned about not getting ones hope too high but this testing gives us more than we had before the autosomal testing breakthrough. You must test at all the companies to give you the most matches possible for that one match that might connect you to family. After three years I have finally gotten a 2nd cousin which is good and I know for some a match like this has been successful in helping find their parent. If you are not in it ...there is no chance you will win it! It is a gamble but very worth the try!

I have been trying to find my adoptive brothers family for awhile and he has matches and could never find the names of his birth family. A couple weeks ago a genealogy genius helped and within 2 days had answers . His parents lied on his birth certificate. His Uncle match is actually his half sister. My brother was a product of an affair. I wanted my brother to know his family names as he was battling prostrate cancer last year. Ends up that’s what he Dad died of.

It's funny how one has that familial feeling even after never having had met them before.
There is that feeling of a special bond you have even with Cousins.

I know what you mean, I have 2 half brothers and a half sister through my stepmother, and a half brother and half sister through my biological mother I never knew. Same way with all of them. I`ve never done anything to any of them, except try to help them when they needed it, and they could care less about me.

I was adopted and was interested in connecting to a blood relative so I took the test.
I found a first cousin who then told me about my father. He was a serial rapist and murderer who is serving a life sentence for a triple homicide of a family and rape of a 15 year old girl who survived the attack with severe injuries. My mother apparently commit suicide so I believe she was one of his early rape victims. :(

I was hoping I could find my fathers side of the family, Something happened and he refused to talk about them, So I m missing that whole side, All I have is his parents name. Got his ship list found out where he was born. All I know is his Dad was killed when he was 5 years old, His Mom remarried and he has a half brother, and an uncle younger than him. Would be nice to find them and maybe find out the truth about what happened,

Only 2% of adoptees will have a direct child-parent match-and that Is out of the global population of adoptees which is also 2% of the total population. However, sibs and half sibs may be matches for you, and cousins can often be the lynchpin to the piece of information which may lead to discovery of a father or mother or both.
And giving up is the sure way never to find that for which you search. Get tested in as many databases as you can ... if your brother is in one database and you in another, there can be no match.
In the meantime, fight for your rights to have access to all information pertaining to you. Speak up and speak out! Search! Ask! and ask again. Find Search Angels on FB or their local chapter. They can help you to search-without a name... If your adopters are still part of your life, ask for your final adoption order, there is a birth name on it (Yours) which was changed to the one you have now. When they die, if still alive and are unwilling to help, those orders and papers are somewhere -most likely in a vault in a home safe or a safety deposit box at a bank.
And if you should find a name or a match, pelase remember tht although you have the right to ask, the person has the right of refusal.
Good luck to you and to those reading this from an adoptee in search for many moons who has been there and done that.

Steve Paul I’ve found first ,second cousins and third and distant cousins ! 1096 relatives in total . Also being African American found Latino and Caucasian relatives that shared third great grandparents so it is very possible to link a name to a person genetically ! I am lucky I guess ❤️✨

Update @Steve Paul . I found my biological family through Ancestry DNA ! My Uncle on my Father's side was my top match. My first cousin on my Mother's side was my second highest . A year ago I was United with both sides!! Truly blessed !!
