I have been to more than 12 concerts in almost 30 years and Jambi particularly the extended versions they do, is one of their best live songs. The sounds and the drop just blasts.
I hope that you seriously give Tool the time and attention that they deserve. I've known Tool for a long time and did have all their albums. I did have their latest two albums in my possession for a long time before deciding to, as you said, seriously listen to them. This isn't a band that you listen to in a conventional manner. They really need your undivided attention and willingness to give them a chance, as it were. Of course, they have to peak your curiosity to some extent, but if they do then a great set of headphones with no distractions go a long way. I agree that their time signature is a challenge and that was the hump that I had to go over, i.e., my initial unwillingness to go on that unorthodox journey.
Now that I've done so, it's been like a whole new experience in listening to music. Almost all their songs require multiple listens. What I really enjoy is when they switch the timing around a basic rhythm. At times, I'll faithfully tap my finger at a particular rhythm and maintain that tempo as they change timing around that basic tempo. It can be fantastic and astonishing to listen to. These guys are wizards and they only get better with their latest album being my personal favourite. They are more mellow, technical and the lyrics are gorgeous. Rosetta Stone was the most challenging but after about 6 listens, I am glad that I persevered.... a work of genius. The music plays out the lyrics/story.
They are currently my favourite band to listen to.
I agree regarding Led Zeppelin ... another amazing band.
I love Metallica but they are rather basic compared to Tool.
Rush.... a technically excellent band for sure, but I can never warm upper to the high pitched vocals. :-)
Finally, your reviews have been fun to watch. I bow to your NOT interrupting the music to comment. I've ALWAYS wondered about that. At least listen to the entire tune first and then (suggestion here), go back to the parts that you really liked/admired.
I don’t think any other band can literally change my mood immediately just by listening to basically any song they have ever made.
My favorite Tool album! Not a bad song on it, a weird one but no bad ones. I think a lot of Tool Army members consider Lateralus their best but I really like 10,000 Days. It's a freakin' journey to sit in the dark with audiophile headphones and listen to it through. I guess that could be said for any Tool album but this one's my fave. Glad to see you digging the Tool experience.
We all have our favorite. Mine is undertow. But, I like them all.
Yeah I've listened to this album more than any album.
My favorite is whichever one I’m currently listening to at that time.
This is mine too. But Fear Inoculom is inching closer.
lest we forget " undertow " ...tool army est.1993
There’s no such thing as people who don’t like Tool. Just people who aren’t ready yet 😅 lol
tool is not for everybody, but everybody seems to be covering tool
This entire album. Seriously. Not a single bad track on it.
TOOL is FOREVER
Yeah, well ... ya better see 'em while ya still can 'cause I honestly don't think they'll do another album nor do I think they'll tour much longer. Maynard already structures everything around his winery and the harvest so he'll be doing that exclusively before too long; Justin seems content to step away (probably after this tour); Adam and his wife are doing art together and will more and more, soon; Danny is going the prog jazz route/black magic practitioning. What with covid, more deadly viruses on the horizon, them aging and just feeling they've accomplished everything, Tool-wise, it's nearly Tool's swan song. All they're interested in now is collecting that "Tool, spelled backwards."
@@rosecityronin I did January 27th in denver @ ball room arena and it was the best damn concert I've ever seen
@@rosecityronin I think that's 'spelled out' in Fear Inoculum too..
Making a comment to help the algorithm.
Cool ! Love your reactions
What a great day to do a reaction to Tool on the day they start their North American tour. This is definitely one of my favorite songs from Tool. Can't wait to see them February 5th in New Orleans!
My son and I are going January 10th & 11th in Eugene, OR & Tacoma, WA! He's never seen 'em! I get to pop my son's Tool cherry. w00t!
@@rosecityronin taking my son as well! He's never seen them either ! Pretty exciting to see my kid get to experience the greatest band (Tool) live. It's gonna be epic!
Love this song...
That DROP!!!!!!
Ooh my favorite 😍
Real good reaction and commentary
Don'y know how you can go so long without listening to Tool, seeing how you like them so much, Seeing them in Boston next month, you should see them live. Great reaction, Chod!
I’m sure everyone will be suggesting the typical tool songs that every reactor does so I’ll mention a song that I think you will like, still popular nonetheless: the grudge.
Yo still haven’t reacted to Lost keys/Rosetta stoned on this album. It’s two tracks one after the other. IMO it’s Danny’s most difficult track to play on the drums. That song is a fucking masterpiece but it’s gonna take you time to digest it. Honestly when I heard it the first time I wasn’t even sure if I liked it it was so weird. But now it’s a banger. Much love keep reacting!
ALL RIGHT!!!! If you haven't reacted to Right In Two....You should 🙂
Danny Carey has the Dopest and most unique style
This song in particular is in 3/4 but it's also in 9/8 and sometimes the bass is in 6/4
When danny hits that pocket in the middle section just before the solo, the whole band locks into 6/4
🤯
loved the frampton guest solo
Love your breakdown and reaction, I can agree with you on why some people don't like Tool because of the time signatures. It can be unsettling. I myself didn't like them at first because the music made me feel anxious. Once I realized why it made me feel that way, I started loving Tool. The first time I heard Jambi I immediately loved it, I ended up playing it on repeat for about 3 days. Still love it.
Hi bro, i am new on your channel ! I love music and i love Tool ! Tool is one of my favs bands ! Greatings from germany ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
This song and Bleed by Meshuggah sound like a Harley Davidson idling at red light....
Astute observation on the Danny - Neil connection. Neil was definitely a big influence on Danny.
Peace friend!
✌️🇨🇦🤘
Oh yes.. Now were talking.. Greatest band for 30 years.. Try Opeth, A Fair Judgement 👍
Yea on Opeth but imo there are better songs.
The drummer for TOOL, Danny Carey, is highly influenced by Neil Peart who was the drummer for RUSH. You may want to react to ua-cam.com/video/1eSlvoO3Vw8/v-deo.html

"I thought this was pretty cool. People haven't posted on this yet, as far as I can tell, so here I go, in case you were wondering about how complex this song actually is.
Obvious first, the song is written in 9, let's call it 9/8, except for Adams solo (6/4, respective to 9/8), and the "Shine down benevolent song" section (9/4, respectively). Pretty blatant, right?
Next step, the sub-divisions and polyrhythm: the beginning (keep in mind it's in 9) is in 3+2+2+2, all of the band with this rhythm. after this the guitar goes into a 2+2+2+3 groove, and the drums comes in w/ 3+3+3, then maynard comes in with 3+2+2+2. The bass comes in with the 3+3+3, except each three section is divided into two instead of three. This creates an 8th note over triplet feel with the adam and maynard. They all go together like this. As the song progresses, danny and maynard switch back and forth among all of this subdivision combination.
Also, the 9/4 part is subdivided into 5+4.
Polyrhythm:
After the 9/4 part, adam comes back in with the 2+2+2+3, danny w/ 3+3+3, Justin w/ the eighth notes over danny's triplets, and finally maynard's "breath in union" comes in with 3+2+2+2. This all happens simultaneously, and they line every nine beats. All parts of the band eventually conform to maynards rhythm. funny how the band's polyrhythm's COME INTO UNION at this point and the lyrics are "BREATHE IN UNION"."
Almost like it was planned... hmmm... 🤔
👍👍👍👍👍👍
