      @@inactivechannel7439 my family feels the same about my bird I'm getting. I'm not a dog person but everyone owns a dog and I find it really annoying how they're so pushy about dogs but yet hate birds. It's like comparing apples with oranges, a personal preference. Nothing more.

    Wow I could see them when you moved the camera back so you could focus on the eggs 😹 that was surprising I did not think I,would see it from that distance . I noticed the veins before the heart plus the air pocket I noticed was different to the unfertilised eggs. Thanks for sharing that it was something I have not seen done in almost 40 years when I had the chance to do this on the farm I stayed at when Mom remarried when I was almost 6 I had fun on the farm even learned to drive the tractor as well 😹😹😹 only down side is when I fell,out the low bedroom window right on top of a bed of stinging nettles not a pretty sight I can tell you😹😹😹

    If I had a higher capacity incubator I'd get more eggs! 😂 Right now I have a clutch of 7 silkies in the 'bator that were shipped to me. They're only a few days in so far but I believe so far there's only one I'm questioning on if it's viable. Which is good. I can't wait to see how they are this weekend! :D
    And yowza, that LED is great! My candler is 12+ years old. That bulb hasn't been changed ever. I need to try and get a brighter one Friday so I can really see into those eggs...

  • @hughmungus2624
    @hughmungus2624 Рік тому +1

    I had to look this up, because I unfortunately candled incorrectly this morning, using a phone flashlight. 5 eggs were non viable of the 6 I tossed. The 6th had a fully developed chick in it, and chirped when I tossed it into the woods and it hit a tree root. Grabbed my 22 to put it out of whatever misery I put it in. Thanks for this video, it'll help me ensure it never happens again.

    You shouldn't shake the egg like you do in the first candling, could shaker the embryo loose so to speak. If hatching rate from the incubator are low, that might be cause you've shook the eggs. And as a lady wrote, move the incubator to the let, so the table at the right side is free for you to put the frames on while candling.

    Great videos, I am just learning about chicken husbandry and this is a valuable resource!! As for life only coming from life... In a short term view this is of course true... in one week a rock does not turn into a chicken... life took billions of years to emerge on Earth and has been evolving for billions of years since then. Human history is only a tiny speck of that and in an even tinier speck we can selectively breed and control the traits of species like chickens for our own particular needs. To me that is the stunning thing about life... it is adaptable, flexible, resilient.

    This is really fascinating, I like the chainsaw videos as that is my job but I find these videos about the chickens really interesting, in fact all your videos are really interesting to me as i was raised in the countryside. My parents had a few pigs and had enough chickens to be able to sell the eggs but I was too young to really remember much about it
    I'll have to watch the video again where you showed the machine as I can't quite figure out how it rotates the eggs, perhaps once the eggs are hatched you could go into some more detail about the machine, again thanks for sharing your experience.

    hi there, that about what is first, Egg or Chicken? Well they are both at same time. A hem with babies inside her was easier to be caught, so slowly they start to give birth a bit earlier, making her placenta a bit harder at the time, those hems that can run faster without their babies inside survive more, and those eggs that were harder survive more, that is a process with thousands of steps. btw, I like ur videos :)

    Very interesting!
    I raise poultry, but I have never been able to candle my own bird's eggs. The shells on my Ameraucana chickens were too thick to see through, despite many clutches of hatched eggs over the years and a very bright light. I hope to be able to candle duck and goose eggs, but I am not holding my breath since their egg shells are also very thick.
    ... but where did that first chicken come from?

    • @simeonandalex
      @simeonandalex  8 років тому +4

      I have candled thick goose eggs with this method as well. One viewer suggested to use an toilet paper roll to put the egg on to reduce the light leaking through on the side.
      Concerning the chicken: That is the big question! Here is where the interpretation of the evidence presented to us comes into place and different world views are being expressed. Based on the laws of biogenesis and the observations that life never comes from non-life and the laws of information that all information has a 'sender' (chicken, plants, other animals and us being highly information dense beings), my conclusion is that there has to be a living sender. That of course raises the question where that intelligent 'sender' came from. The problem is that we are dealing with historical science here, not observational, which means nobody can go back in history and redo it or observe it. Everyone has to observe the evidence found today and conclude. To me the biblical account of creation is what fits the observations the best: 1. There is an intelligent sender. 2. Life comes from life. 3. Every species remains the same species with variation within the species (observable). Since nobody was there 'in the beginning' we have to either speculate wildly about what happened or trust the record of someone who claims to have been an eyewitness, in this case the Creator. That of course raises the question if he is trustworthy which he invites anyone to test and seek.

    Well, if you are a creationist the answer would be the chicken, and if you are an evolutionist then it would be the egg.

    • @simeonandalex
      @simeonandalex  8 років тому

      I understand what you are saying. But either one of them is true. Truth is exclusive. And like I said, the law of biogenesis states that life always comes from life which is observable and operational science.
