The perfection of Grishuk and Platov is that everything came together and worked for them - amazing choreography, their acting skills, their attention to every small step, a small movement, to some extent contributes to their unity, their beautiful musicality, their sincere affection for each other. even in 2022, Grischuk and Platov are invincible.
@@211jump I would've placed K&P in first and G&P in second. And quite honestly the Duchesnays in third. U&Z were exquisite but her second step of the choctaw was terrible. I didn't see Rahkamo & Kokko's Blues CD at these Games though. Nor the Hungarians (Engi & Toth).
@@211jump Yeah, I definitely had them off the podium. My rankings after the compulsories would been K&P in first, G&P in second, with D&D and U&Z tied for third. For the OD, I would've had K&P in first, G&P in second, with Moniotte & Lavanchy in third. For the FD, I would've had K&P in first, G&P in second, and U&Z in third. But with D&D being the reigning world champions and the Olympics being in France that year, that was simply not going to happen. Heck, they very nearly won both the OD and FD, losing to K&P in both programs on a 5-4 decision.
@@211jump I mentioned this to you in another video but I honestly feel like there would've been an argument for G&P to have placed first in the compulsories. Looking at them more recently made me realize that G&P traced out their patterns better than K&P did. And they also handled the closed choctaw better here in this dance.
@@211jump Many think K&P's free dance was one of the greatest free dances of all time. But I found it to be kind of contrived and a lot of the angst was overkill IMO. And their lifts looked like a lot of effort to my eyes. But I'm sure many will disagree with me!
@@gk891 A lot complained about reputation adn protocal scoring in dance, but the ISU was a big part of that fault allowing only 1 set of marks in the compulsory dances. Judges literally had to almost pre rank all the teams as there was no room for maneuvering and you had to think to yourself "where is this team supposed to finish" rather than truly judging the quality of the dance. So stupid. That is more the fault of the ISU than the judges.

Public sweetheart Oksana and my favorite. Till today she is unbeatable in ice-dancing.
Jayne Torvill is so much better
Nice choctaws from this team here. Much better than the ones that Usova & Zhulin and the Duchesnays did.

I think this is Sandra Bezic doing the explanation.
Oops, should have added for the first part.
It's both. Bezic up first yacking about jumps, then Senft talks dance.
