You guys are doing great. Here's my tip: Whenever I install laminate countertop I attach 1x4(or 1x anything) furring strips across the top of the cabinets. This will bring your countertop up another 3/4" (to the standard 36" counter height), make it more level with your range, give you more places to attach it and add more support. Plus it brings it up away from your drawer fronts for a better look. Look up "build up strips" for info :)
I find this so much more enjoyable to watch than someone building a new perfect house with a huge budget. You two are making this kitchen new and beautiful and more functional - all on a reasonable budget. It looks so good! And who cares about the sink not being perfect? Pssshhht. It's perfect for you guys.
The sink in my Mothers house was old when I was born in 1957 but it has the double side board to put dish racks on and it’s white . I love it and it’s deep to. I’d never replace it with new stuff. They don’t build them like that anymore so I like your sink to better then new stuff they build now. Love your new kitchen proud of you two. 💕
SOOOOOOO Happy for Angela!!!!!!!! Every woman wants a beautiful and functional kitchen. LOVE IT! My hubby heard Sam say BEEFEN and once again my hubby was stuck with the word!!!!!!! LOL! Thank you Both for continually sharing your LIFE! We LOVE you Both...God Bless.
I would rather watch someone like you than a show like the Property Brothers any day. You are being practical, re-purposing materials, being thrifty and still coming up with a great look for your home! You're doing such a great job you guys. (I am a few years behind but love watching this progress). Ashley and Doug sent me your way.
You both never have to apologize for being frugal and living within your own means, because if everyone did this, the country wouldn't have such high credit card debt and bankruptcies. I love your channel and your can do attitude when approaching every task of the reno. Keep up the great work. 👍
Dave Ramsey would be proud! Planning ahead and staying firm to your budget will give you such peace. Great job! So smart to install faucet on the floor!
Yes!!! Sticking to our rule of zero-debt for this project and making due with what we can has been a challenge some times, but very rewarding already! We saved for 2-3 months to buy the cabinets and counter tops and are so happy to have them. Made saving well worth the effort!
FYI: To clean your sink you might want to try a product called Bar Keepers Friend. You can find it in the kitchen cleaning supplies at Walmart for less than $2.00. I love the way it cleans and the variety of things you can clean with it. I use it on my stainless steal pots and pans, makes them look like new. The great thing it doesn’t scratch! I’ll say it again........I love watching, keep the videos coming I get excited every time I see there is a new one.
The reason your kitchen is going to be beautiful is because you two know how to find true beauty in your life. So many women aren’t content with saving and cutting corners in their kitchen because they value their worth on other people’s opinions.
I love that old sink! I moved into an apartment with a 1960s porcelain kitchen sink. It was scratched, seemed permanently stained. But I used just plain ol' baking soda to scrub it, and it came out sparkling white! I loved it!
Wow! That was difficult to get the corner cupboard in, but you did it! Strength! Yahoo! I love the sink, old, a few scratches, but it's a beauty! I also love that Angela is not afraid to use the tools and get right in there and at work!! Way to go Angela!! You guys are awesome!! :)
Angela what a man ya have. That reminded me of Ashley holding the ceiling drywall up over at Diy channel when her and Doug were doing ceiling. I could tell some stories of my remodeling. When you work alone you figure out things. Sam’s the man and you’re a great helper, Angela.
Thank you for not talking over the average persons head about what you are doing. Since my Dad passed away I don’t have any idea how to fix something’s. Thanks again for your helpful explanations.
I don't think I have ever seen a fiberglass kitchen sink before. And you know you have reached adulthood when the depth of your kitchen sink matters. Great method for using the jigsaw to plunge cut! 🧩☮ you 2!
There was a stamp on the bottom that the sink was made in 1987, we were surprised to see it in such good condition being that old! And you're absolutely right on depth of sink! 😂
I enjoy watching your remodeling process. You two are doing a great job. What a find, a sink for 10% the cost of a new one! The older sink will be better quality than the new ones. Be glad there's a few scratches on the sink, that way you won't feel so bad when you put a scratch in it yourself. I remember putting the first scratch in my NEW sink, I almost cried. Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see how nice it will look when you are all done!
You two have done a great job!!! Reminds me of my husband and I when remodeled on even a tighter budget then you. That was 50 years ago!! Old was new to me and better than I had!! Your sink may have scratches but that brings character and stories to your beautiful kitchen!!!
Love it !! Angela the look on your face at the end of the video says it all!!!!! It's the little things like having an awesome sink back in your kitchen. Love how it is coming together!!!
I love to watch you guys, you remind me of my husband and I in our younger years! We are now 65&69 and we have done exactly what you guys are doing in both a mobile home and a large 2 story very old fixer upper. It brings back great memories and if being honest some of our best times, even though at the time it didn’t seem like it! You guys won’t regret working together as a team... it’s the best!
I’ve only hung kitchen cabinets a couple of times but a friend of mine gave me a huge tip, place a 2x4 level where the bottom of the cabinets will land. This gives you something level to rest your cabinet on so you don’t have to fight to keep it level while screwing it in place. Also, your helper can hold them up with one hand while installation is happening. Then just remove the 2x4 and fill in the holes. Great energy and back saver. Keep up the good work.
Your sink looks awesome. In fact your whole kitchen looks totally awesome. I rarely buy new. I look for deals on Facebook marketplace all the time. When you buy new, you pay top dollar and in no time at all something happens that puts a mark or scratch on it and it’s not as good. With 3 kiddos in the house I have learned that it’s far better to buy it with a little mark on it and pay a fraction of the cost. Makes me so much happier.
Depending on what room is on the wall behind your kitchens dead corner--You could always install some storage shelves or drawers that slide into that dead corner. More storage is always welcome in a mobile home!
That looks fantastic. Glad you remembered the attach the faucet first trick. Your faucet looks like ours in a different colour. We love it. Fill the sink with water and a bit of bleach will get any little stains out of it, but I didn't see any. We got our sink at a yard sale. It sat in the shed for 2 years before we remodled the kitchen. Deep sinks rule!
So most counter tops have the holes for the faucet, And you just cut the hole for the sink big enough to accommodate the faucet holes to keep from having to cut those holes separate. Definitely a genius idea that Will make my life easier. You guys are awesome! Welcome to Tennessee!
Blocking you installed to strengthen for counter tops is a great idea. You might want to drill hole in counter top for kitchen faucet before you fasten top down. Then you can see what kind of clearance you have between faucet bottom and blocking. Then if necessary you can notch out blocking if needed. A tip I use when installing upper cabinets-I screw a straight 1" x 2" strip on bottom mounting line then you can rest cabinets on it while you fasten to the wall. Saves yur back and a divorce.
I love it too Angela!! a hint to clean, right before you go to bed, make a paste of baking soda and vinegar and rub it on the sink. you want it wet enough to smear but dry enough to stay in place. leave it all night then give it a good rub in the morning. since the sink is a beautiful vintage, you may have to do this several nights in a roll. but it is less corrosive than comet.
That white cast iron porcelain sink is terrific! It’s so much deeper and more attractive than that el cheapo looking trailer manufacturer stainless thing that was in there.
Sam and Angela, love watching how your kitchen is coming along. Doesn’t it feel great to get a bargain. My kitchen is almost completely supplied with things I have bought at thrift stores or estate sales. So glad this is working out for you guys.
I love that sink. It has farmhouse character LOL. Now that dead corner, have you considered using it for an under bench bin/vegetable peel compost bucket. Make a frame under the bench to hold a small garbage bag or bucket. Cut a circle out of the benchtop, edge it and put a finger hole in for a handle, and pop back on. Perfect spot for it right next to the sink and saves floor space, if used as a bin. Just a thought. Kitchen is looking great btw.
Just a tip on hanging wall cabinets. Put your mark along the wall and screw in one long straight 2x4 just under the mark (the full length of you wall cabinets) so you can rest the weight of the cabinet on it and have it level as you screw the cabinets in.
I do LOVE the sink, and the faucet. I think I'll get a faucet like that when I remodel my kitchen. And the countertops are beautiful. But that wall is driving me nutz! I want to come over, knock on your door with a gallon of paint and some rollers and brushes SO BADLY! And oh yeah, I'd also bring some tile, spacers and grout for the backsplash. LOL. Just kidding, from Texas is a long way to drive just to paint someones wall. :-)
Trust us... we're looking forward to painting it too! 😂 We've had the faucet for over a year and really like it, it was a great deal on Amazon and we would highly recommend it -- much cheaper than anything at the big box stores locally: amzn.to/2CCuou2
Beefen job guys. Remodeling always involves escalating costs but in the end, you(Angela) end up with a much nicer and better thought out kitchen. It's gonna be a pain to clean between the backsplash and the lip of the sink. That's an awful lot of dead space. 🦀
I’m so happy for you !! Angela - don’t worry about any stains in the sink . You can go to Home Depot or Lowe’s and get a Tub and Tile Kit to resurface the sink . I have done this to my sink and tub ! It’s relatively cheap - @ $25 or so- it is a few hours process but WELL WORTH IT!!! It makes it look brand new again !👍. It will have to cure completely before you use the sink again, but only @ 18 hrs if I remember correctly. That’s do-able.... Sam- sometimes it pays to be a big strong guy !! Pushing that corner cabinet into place took sheer strength !!!! ( I have a brother who’s a bigger guy and I love every ounce of him ❤️ so , please stop ditching on yourself 💋) !!! I’m loving the new kitchen for you guys and I’m sure you’re happy to be almost done . Great job guys - WHOO HOO !!!
Thanks Sam and Angela for another informative and fun visit. Love your "new" sink. I figure that if you can reach all of the sink, then it's just the right size. Happy washing. Pretty countertops and cabinets too. See you on the next one, from Central Oklahoma
I think it's pretty awesome that you guys chose to reuse an old sink. It has already withstood the test of time. I'm collecting ideas for my own remodel and I will be stealing this. 😉 Thank you for the inspiration!
First of all, you 2 are such a cute couple! Second, you can totally refinish the sink to look new if you wanted! Rustoleum has a tub and tile paint kit. I think they run around $50! So it won't break the bank but if not it still looks great as is!
I had just told my wife (Who loves y'all's show by the way), how I would have put the faucet on the sink before installing it, and low and behold Miss Angela a very wise one indeed, did what I had said. Brother she saved you a lot of back breaking work... I also love the idea of thinking ahead about the painting mess before the final mounting of the sink which looks great!
Down the road you could always reporcelain the sink to fix the scratches. I did that on my old porcelain covered steel bath tub. Holding up after 5 years.
Its looking great. I think I would have sanded and painted the visible parts of the wall while it was unobstructed but, I can also understand wanting a counter and sink put in quickly too. Great counter top.... luv it.
Love it!!! If it turns out the sink doesn't clean up well enough, there is a product you can get at Lowes or Home depot to redo the finish on the sink. You can leave it in too, just mask out plastic around it. A friend did her bathtub with that and it looks brand new :) You two are doing a great job!!!
Your kitchen is looking really nice, love the white sink! If you ever have a stuck on stain in your sink that you cannot get out I recommend using Bar Keepers Friend, it really helps scour out the stains and leaves your sink looking like new!
Hello I’m on 84-year-old disabled record of Rhiannon Vietnam wars. Looks great. Good job. I want to replace the shallow sink in my double wide at the beach. You made it look easy. 👍
Love your remodel.

Looking that up now! We haven't (yet) attached the counter tops so could still do this... thanks!
So smart.............love it!
You're coming right along. Looks great
Doug. You're the man! great advice!
Hi Doug and Ashley😁
I find this so much more enjoyable to watch than someone building a new perfect house with a huge budget. You two are making this kitchen new and beautiful and more functional - all on a reasonable budget. It looks so good! And who cares about the sink not being perfect? Pssshhht. It's perfect for you guys.
You should win awards for your kitchen. Plus, an award for not fighting while you are doing it. I love how you two compliment each other.
Aww, thank you! 😊
Thanks! It’s taken time to work together like we do!
That's a beautiful sink, been looking for one myself
The sink in my Mothers house was old when I was born in 1957 but it has the double side board to put dish racks on and it’s white . I love it and it’s deep to. I’d never replace it with new stuff. Those sinks are so awesome! Thanks for commenting and watching, we appreciate it!
Those are awesome sinks! We didn’t have the room here to get one, but I thought about it! -Angela
Am so pleased you have your kitchen back and your sink in onward and upward xx 😘 😘
What I Like about you guys, is that your not complicated at all. It's so relaxing to see people do what they can, with what they have !! Bravo !

Angela, Great pick, your farmer house sink is beautiful. You a blessed man Sam. Both of you are a great team. Proverbs 31:10-23
To get the sink clean use liquid Bar keepers friend it will get it back to white again.
The reason your kitchen is going to be beautiful is because you two know how to find true beauty in your life. So many women aren’t content with saving and cutting corners in their kitchen because they value their worth on other people’s opinions.
Smart choice for a sink. The older ones are deeper and much more usable.
Yea, great job!!!!!! Love your deep sink and faucet. Sam, you are doing a great. Glad your helper is a thinker.
You and Angela work well, together.❤
I love that old sink! I moved into an apartment with a 1960s porcelain kitchen sink. It was scratched, seemed permanently stained. But I used just plain ol' baking soda to scrub it, and it came out sparkling white! I loved it!
I like the older sink it adds some charm to the already charming kitchen :)
Bar keepers friend (the powder one) is my favorite things to clean my white sink. Makes it look new. And it’s under $2.
Love your program. The sink is an awesome save...good choice. Being frugal is an art.
Wow! That was difficult to get the corner cupboard in, but you did it! Strength! Yahoo! I love the sink, old, a few scratches, but it's a beauty! I also love that Angela is not afraid to use the tools and get right in there and at work!! Way to go Angela!! You guys are awesome!! :)

Great Job Guys. What a difference from your old kitchen. Who says you need an outrageous budget to get things done. Keep crushing it
Thank you so much Steve!!!

So much good advice from DIYfferent and others - only through the internet. The kitchen is really coming together!!
Angela, like Sam said, "you're amazing!"
That looks great 👍 you guys. Keep ur up; you're doin' good!
And yes, that sink will probably last far longer than that $300.00 new version. Two thumbs up on the sink and the kitchen progress.
Get some Bar keeper friendly and that sink will shine like new.
What a great team...I admire your ability to work together and support each other!

YES! A working sink makes a world of difference!! Great job!
It sure does!!!!
So happy you got your large kitchen sink ;) and your hubby is doing a great job! Blessings

Blocking you installed to strengthen for counter tops is a great idea. You might want to drill hole in counter top for kitchen faucet before you fasten top down. Great sink. You can re-enamel the sink to give it that new look.
I love your kitchen. If y'all are happen with the sink that is all that matters !!
Good job you two. I'm ready to put my sink in and cut the new countertop. Whoo hoo!!
I am so proud of you guys and the amazing job that you are doing, I could be your west coast mama!!!
Your families reward is happiness 😊
I'm sure there is a kit to resurface your sink. I saw a UA-camr do her shower. Great job and it's looking 100 times better than before. Be proud!
Nice. Thanks!
Good job finding stuff in good shape and reusing them is just smart.
Not trying to win awards. I like you guy's. Down to earth..
Thanks!
My sink is close to 100 years old farm house sink with drain board---- I love my vintage sink! Enjoy yours!
Nice!
That white cast iron porcelain sink is terrific! It’s so much deeper and more attractive than that el cheapo looking trailer manufacturer stainless thing that was in there.
Awesome sink Angela! Frugal minded. Alright!
That smile at the end was awesome 😍
So glad I found you guys . You have done a great job. Smart to pay as you go! Being frugal, when possible.
I can almost fit in the sink was too cute🤣 paint the sink and move on the kitchen looks great🤑
counters are beautiful. sink is perfect and price was a wow.
I love a bargain! Love the countertops! Y’all are doing awesome!
I love your sink Angela ; ) I also love your smile and your attitude. You are wonderful.
❤

I do LOVE the sink, and the faucet. I think I'll get a faucet like that when I remodel my kitchen. And the countertops are beautiful. But that wall is driving me nutz! First of all, you 2 are such a cute couple!

Bless you both for being so down to earth.... I love it❤️
well TRUTHFULLY, I think your sink looks just GREAT... You guys are doin an amazing job.. God bless..
I do like the sink it is very nice and you can't beat the price. 30.00 vs 300.00 I like your clips have a wonderful day
I had just told my wife (Who loves y'all's show by the way), how I would have put the faucet on the sink before installing it, and low and behold Miss Angela a very wise one indeed, did what I had said. Yay! Usable sink! And it looks great. Praying for your safety and progress. Wish I could help out. Take care.
It’s looking good guys! You two make a great team and are fun to watch!
I've really enjoyed watching your kitchen makeover.

Your kitchen is looking really nice, love the white sink! If you ever have a stuck on stain in your sink that you cannot get out I recommend using Bar Keepers Friend, it really helps scour out the stains and leaves your sink looking like new!
