I was a little concerned during the intro that this would be yet another "day in the life" series that so many watch dealers seem to be doing these days. Thankfully, I was wrong - love these "what is on my desk" types of videos with hands on reviews of beautiful watches
I love listening to and learning from your channel. Vintage watches are fascinating. I’ve been lucky enough to see a red sub 1680, root beer GMT, all gold, A date just’s with the rotating bezel, and a 70’s Pepsi. I’m still getting some of the ref. numbers down but I’m new to this. I’d love an Omega 165.024 or a Comex 5514 🤤
I think some people make it a bigger deal than it is. The only people who have died from radium on watches were the radium gals, and they ate some of it. If radium was really very bad for us to wear on an enclosed watch, we would hear some interesting news stories like, “watch collector dies at age 75 from wearing too many radium watches!”…still haven’t heard that one yet.
So if zenith released a prototype to the general public in January of 1969 chronograph with a column wheel and a vertical clutch but in February Seiko was first to Market and selling them to customers which leads me to believe that even if they took the same amount of time to develop that Seiko was actually first they were definitely first to Market they just weren't the first to publicly announce it
No, it usually is original hands that are missing lume or which already have been relumed that are then redone/relumed again to simply match the color of the patina on the dial with the hands, but usually not with original tritium or radium as the original.
Brilliant education content Adam, I have seen you feature in a few Roman Sharf videos, you are a natural in front of the camera and I am now hitting subscribe to your channel. It would be nice to hear the retail values of these watches.
For those root beers, how’s their timekeeping these days? What’s standard procedure for vintage, just regular servicing without cosmetic refurbishing? How does the timekeeping hold up over time?
Adam, keep up the great videos homie !!! Way to separate yourself from all of the others with real deal enthusiast info and looks into watches/the biz !

Yea to be honest, I want this channel to be more education-oriented than showing off the business side! Thanks for watching!
We need more videos like this... Reminds me of whats on my desk!
Great information. Please show more of the watches. It's really frustrating when you show a watch for a few seconds
Absolutely love this 3800 two tone... Also glad you talk about nivada grenchen who are making a comeback right now 👏🏻

I enjoyed this vid but my only ask is that while talking the focus is more on the watches as opposed to a wide shot of the entire layout.
That’s crazy about the 3800 being more expensive! Perhaps the movement was more expensive as in house. Fascinating! Thanks for sharing.
Also, how to do you feel about the debate on wearing radium watches? Thanks!

Hi Adam ... I like very much your approach ... sounds/is like scientific and analytic, as well as we like in Italy ... lovely watches on this video
I have a steel 3800 diamond dial. Def NFS.
Love the Sea Dweller

Are color matched hands hands that were replaced or painted to look like the dial?
No, it usually is original hands that are missing lume or which already have been relumed that are then redone/relumed again to simply match the color of the patina on the dial with the hands, but usually not with original tritium or radium as the original.
Love you Man. I learn so much from you.
Thank you for the kind words!

I do believe Adam is the best in knowledge and watch narration ...

Great stuff! If you happen to score a gang of 1940s watches it would be cool to see an array of them within a future vid!
Great vlog great watches. Enjoy

You should name the channel MentaL Watches
When you say the "bezel is period correct," do you mean the bezel is not original to watch?
No, on the contrary, it’s the correct bezel.
Oh
Be honest guys… who’s the POS that gave this a thumbs down? Fight me!
Show the watch not your face
Amateurs. The watches … not your sofa.
Great video
