Some great shots, good information and beautiful fish....well done. I have fished the lake some.....and thought maybe one was restricted to no more than two single barbless hooks?....maybe that reg has changed.

The official list of regulations on the tribal website doesn’t state anything about number of flies or lures. The only mention of hooks is the section which states..
“Barbless hooks only. We are only concerned with what hooks you have in the water, not your tackle box. You can have 2 singles, 2 doubles, or 2 treble hooks PER lure.”
I only ever fished two fly rigs there until I had the opportunity to ask a tribal sheriff while he checked my license one day. I showed him the regulations, and asked if a three-fly rig is okay, and he said yes.
I have friends who don’t fish three-fly rigs, even where allowed, because of personal beliefs.
The experience I had with the tribal sheriff makes me comfortable fishing three flies when trying to find the right depth, but to each his own.

@@SoggySleeves So I looked a little more on the tribal web site and saw the language in the Basic In formation section that talks to two singles, 2 doubles and 2 treble hooks per lure. All barbless of course.
In the Regulations posted on Page 16 Section 15 Fishing, Prohibited Methods for Non Tribal Members, 15.1 Illegal Tackle
15.1.2 says...Only one combination of rod, line and not more than two hooks (which may be single double or treble) will be used under a single fishing permit.
I have also asked a guide who fly fishes the lake with clients for 20 years and he agreed that the maximum number of flies on the line is two. I'll continue to fish just two flies maximum.
Keep the videos going and hope you guys catch some more monsters....My PB so far was 34.5 inches and after a quick check in the net, less the net weight he weighed 15.2 pounds.

Love the danglage....and of course the indicator. Haters are gonna hate but bobbers are gonna still go down no matter what, lol

ive watched a lot of your videos at Pyramid. Thank you for the content. Now, lets get to the most important question. Would you say stripping or indicating catches more fish at Pyramid Lake? if skill level was the same

@@KalaniChampionChevrolet such a tough question, because it’s so dependent on location, time of year, and water temp. On a grand scale, the bobber probably catches more fish since you can target fish in every type of depth, and eating pattern. However, there are definitely times when stripped flies are gonna get eaten 10-1 in comparison to suspended flies. I’ve personally caught way more fish stripping than fishing bobbers.
I’d say water temp is probably the most important factor. It’s usually not until temps are in the 55°-65° range that the fish seem to strongly prefer chasing moving flies. That’s when the strip-bite is superior. Then, I’d look at the time of year. When they start to feed heavily on midges, like end of February-beginning of March (differs year-to-year), using a bobber becomes huge, even if water temps are conducive to stripping flies. The bobber is also huge in the winter months when temps are below 50°. That’s also when suspending leeches or baitfish patterns seems to out-produce stripping. The fish are just not as willing to chase it down.
I guess the main thing I’m trying to say, is whichever method you prefer, or have confidence in, you can figure out a way to use it to your advantage in whatever situation you face, although it’s very helpful to be proficient in both methods and be willing to switch back and forth as needed.

@SoggySleeves thank you for the info I appreciate it. I hope you get many opportunities to fish this year. I've heard the bite is on fire right now.
