My yard has a bunch of trees that lose leaves all year and I have spent untold hours raking them since I bought this house 3 years ago About an hour to assemble and this thing works wonders! Worth every single penny.
@@OurTopPinLife My friend, will this go backwards or only forward? Some video stated they will not go backwards, of so how does one back up to a dump spot? Just wondering, thanks. Never mind, I found out at the 3:30 mark, the lady was in error. I can get this at Wal Mart for 299, delivered to my house. Can not beat that. Thanks for all you do bud.
😅I own one of these in the 44” model. Have 3acres but only mow about 1. It’s great for picking up clippings and leaves. Had a craftsman at one time and had some trees cut down, thinking I would not need it any more. So, I sold it, to my regret. Bought the Ohio Steel and am very happy with it.
Just saw this and about to order me one. Thanks for the awesome review. Everyone said it worked great on grass clippings but this is the first video of it in action and it was very convincing.
I am only 1:50 into the video and honestly yours is the first review to show me a real benefit to going with the lawn sweeper instead of a bagger. It seems bad budgeting to have to do the lawn twice when a bagger makes it once but your point of letting the clippings dry out for a day or so is just so smart if you have a practical use for the clippings.
I just got one and came here to see what I was doing wrong! I pull mine with my cub cadet. There is a LOT of debris flying up onto the mower deck in addition to the hopper. I now realize I need to lower the hitch so the sweeper is closer 8:03 to the ground and the bag is off the ground, there was nothing in the directions that explained this. I use mine on our 6 acre lot that has pine trees (does great in pine straw) oaks, sweet gum leaves - which I think it will do better on leaves once I adjust the height of the sweeper. And of course grass. My lawn looks like a golf course!!! Every time I dumped out pine straw, I kept thinking about how much time and pain raking would have been!!! Great review - thanks for the insight!
And I'm glad I got it today!! Like I said all I really want it for is small sticks and twigs and it'll do just that! This thing will pick up a quarter!!! Lol
Awesome review Tobin, Once I start doing my own yard I will be getting one of these. Just from your video I can see that it is truly amazing and takes little effort to hook up and sweep the lawn in no time. Great video. and a great investment. Blessings to you all and stay safe out there.
I just got one yesterday and put it together today and drove it through a bunch of leaves and acorns and man after I finally figured out how to adjust it, My lawn is almost ready for winter. Although the leaves haven't fully fallen yet so I'll get one more chance to use it. I hate the bagger on my mower so I love the idea of leaving them bagger off and just pull that behind. Happy with my purchase
You can use your mower's vacuum bagger to suck up dried-out pre-mowed clippings, the same as you are doing this, but if you have a lot of clippings, this will pick up more, and there's no hose to clog up, like on a vacuum bagger.
Thank you! I just bought a 42" from a guy who used it twice for $225. I needed to understand the finer adjustments to get the best usage out of it. I have a lot of pine trees on my property and collect it to use as free mulch. I'm 67 and can't sustain the Cardio like I used to, so it's more than a great time saver! The importance of having a level hook-up on my zero-turn is a great tip!
I had enough of the old Rake and tarp dragging just takes way too long and too much work I just got mine today only thing that came without the tension rod in the middle so I created my own temporarily know that I figured it all out so I will be testing it out tomorrow thank you for the video

I bought mine 3 years ago. Been using it every cutting since. Picks up everything, sticks, pine cones, you name it. Wouldn't trade it for a bagger and after your done the yard looks awesome.
I've had my 50" for almost a year. Use it on an "as needed' basis. Good quality for sure. Wish it had a clutch, etc to roll without brushes turning. Good feature for when you want to tow it from one point to another.
Great job on the review. I have been wanting one for a few seasons now. Found someone local selling this same exactly model in excellent condition for $125! What I I said I have a few acres and lots of trees and ALWAYS small sticks and twigs and I was only buying it hoping it would be up alot of the sticks and twigs because I'm tired of spending so much time raking! Worth a shot of I'll be upset?? Haha thanks
I have one also and found that it works great. Bumps and dips can present problems so watch how it performs in both directions. First time I used mine was picking wet cut grass and it did a very good job. That night saw two deer munching down on the fresh cutting that were dumped! Hint…tight turns can mess with the sweeping. On your very clean rectangular yard you can eliminate the tight turns by sweeping the yard in the pattern that is used at hockey arenas when they resurface the ice.
Shared this on a john deere tractor forum where we have mid mount mower decks but bagger systems for these at 7k, this solves so much for a literal fraction of the cost….
Got mine in today and just got put together (Super Easy). Cant wait to use it tomorrow on our 4 acres. Hoping to use for layering with compost in poor areas of the yard to help the soil quality. Also raise rabbits so im sure will be handy for that. Thanks for the review
I picked one up yesterday and it came pre assembled, was using it for leafs, and the bag kept tipping on slight uneven ground and bent a tube. But the flat bar on the bag wasn’t resting on the flat part on the actual sweeper. Taking it back today to see if it wasn’t assembled right
We did have an assembly issue as well, with the wheels. Tobin was able to fix it himself, but we did contact customer service and they were very helpful. From what you describe it sounds like what you suspect, an assembly issue. Hopefully they can resolve it.
I bought one for leaves but I just started using it when I cut the grass and it works much better for me than the bagger on my mower...esp when grass is a little damp. tha bagger doesn't work as well when the grass is damp.
I wish I had of seen this two days ago when I was looking, but the UA-cam algorithm didn’t offer yours when I typed “lawn sweeper.” I just bought one yesterday.
That would work great for collecting clippings and using them for mulch around the plants in the garden. It looks like it collects way more than raking would.
I see alot of people pull those things with a four wheeler and go way too fast. This causes gears wear our prematurely which they find out in a couple years. The large wheel gear is only plastic and will not last very long pulling at high speeds. Taking the wheels off every season and lubricating them and the gear helps to make things last longer too, so just slow down and it will last longer!
@@SaltMinerOU812 I use Lukus brand tacky grease on my gears (gears are nylon and not plastic) so the grease keeps the gears like new and is not BAD for the gears.

Dear 5M Family Homestead A quick question. ...... if you have the time ! I have pine trees in my yard, and these trees produce a lot of pinecones. I don't like to mow and chop up the cones, because it leaves the prickly tips that are painful to your feet if you are barefooted in the yard. Not sure what a sand burr is. We don't have those in Texas
wait so you just mow your grass then like 2 days later run over it with this and its like a vacuum. That is pretty cool
We usually go over it within 15 mins after cutting. No need to wait!
Question: On uneven ground my hopper tips up and (almost) dumps. Any way to prevent this ?
The hitch needs to go down towards the ground more so that it raises the hopper up.
Ours does the same thing occasionally but not real often.
How well would it work for walnuts??
It will work good!

We typically put our clippings/ leaves in our pig pen or chicken coop. Maybe ask neighbors if they need the clippings?
That’s a sweeping beast. Be careful not to sweep up any chickens.
