  • There's a SECRET tunnel at the top of the Plain of Jars Quarry, Site 21. Site 21 is where most of the Jars that are scattered throughout this area of Laos were supposedly made. What many DO NOT KNOW though is on the ridge line above this quarry was a SECRET military installation left over from the 2nd Indochina war, or Secret War. We take you to the very top and explore this area..

    Another gem Todd, so much recent history mixed in with ancient history. But beware, "Whatever you do don't mention the war" ( John Cleese from Fawlty Towers) or you might upset someone!!!. 🤣😂🤣😂 I hope that guy who criticised your last vlog is looking at this one to see how much the "Secret War" has influenced the local population and is something that no-one should ever forget! Absolutely fascinating the stone Jars and your theories as to how they were transported. That tunnel looked as though it went on for miles, such a shame that the information centre was closed. It would have been interesting to see how far the cave went back as well, a pity you didn't take your torch, but hey that leaves something for next time 😀 Loved Mina's little song and dance act resplendent in her Hmong outfit. Todd you have such a dry sense of humour with your little asides, they crack me up. God bless you all as always 😀❤🙏

    That tunnel goes right though the hill..... if you had walk around the path that goes to the left.. It goes to the other end of the tunnel.. that comes out on the side of a cliff behind a big rock to cover the entrance.

    Todd, You survived that mountainous walk. I could hear you huffing and puffing. You are braver man than me. And how pretty was Mina's Hmong dress. Every time we see those jars,
    .You wonder? . Do you think they're over 3000 years old ? And were they used as furnaces ? All the best 👍👍 Jim and Harriet

    Now you know why the concrete path was built, the jungle was probably sprayed with Agent orange as pine trees have been planted .

    America dropped 3.5 tons of bombs for every man woman and child in Laos a neutral country. Let that sink in. Ive been to the Plain of the Jars. A fascinating area.

    • @tobiasboon346
      @tobiasboon346 5 місяців тому

      Laos was anything but neutral. The CIA instigated a civil war in Laos where the Royalist were on the American side and the communist on the Viet Cong side. The royalist mainly consist of Hmong hilltribes commanded by General Vang Pao. After the Vietnam war was over and the communist won, Hmong people were severely persecuted. Most people don't even know about the war in Laos and the sacrifices of the Hmong people because the CIA was never supposed to be there that's why the war was popularly known as The Secret War.

    Hello Todd, I did mention it before, why dont you get a decent mike that would clip in you shirt or T shirt. There are some really good ones out there. I can hardly hear you especially in the car, you turn your head and the sound goes. Many times I just switch off. Very annoying.
    Sorry mate.

      Up until this trip we had only ever stayed in one place in Phonsavan, and that was out of convenience. I have no idea what type of accomm' you're used to, and with our limited variety of guesthouses we've stayed at here, I'm probably not the one to ask.

    That concrete stairs and the tunnel were built after 1975 by the prisoners. The cave on the top of that mountain was the original cave where Communist troops used to hide in from the bombers. And I guess that the jars could be made at that site.

    I didn’t know about the other sites, but the main one was pegged out only small area could be walked on, the bomb disposal team had not finished,we were lucky to be taken by one of the Aussie bomb disposal workers but was still on your mind, that was 30 odd years ago, wonder if it’s safe now?

      I had been to this cave in Phou keng in 2017. There was no one at the whole mountain on that day but just the two of us. We entered that cave from the other side and it was super dark and scary. Someone had told us that there were many soldiers who were wounded, treated in this cave had died during the war so we thought that their spirits might still be hiding inside the cave. We got really spooked, my female partner almost cry, LOL
