"Send in the Clowns" instrumental version on classical guitar

- Taking a brief diversion from rock songs, here's a solo guitar and bass instrumental version of Stephen Sondheim's famous song for the Broadway musical "A Little Night Music."
As Stephen explained, " "Send in the Clowns' was never meant to be a soaring ballad; it's a song of regret. I wanted to use theatrical imagery in the song, because (the lead in the play, Desireé) is an actress, but it's not supposed to be a circus. It's a theater reference meaning, 'If the show isn't going well, let's send in the clowns'; in other words, 'let's do the jokes' ."
'Many thanks to publishing and the estate of the late Stephen Sondheim for their graciousness with permission for me to perform my instrumental version and tribute of his classic song.

A brief diversion from rock music... Stay tuned! A live stream rock show is coming in a few weeks, hopefully to debut a new original rock song. Enjoy!😁
Original song lyrics are here...
Isn't it rich?
Are we a pair?
Me here at last on the ground,
You in mid-air,
Where are the clowns?
Isn't it bliss?
Don't you approve?
One who keeps tearing around,
One who can't move,
Where are the clowns?
There ought to be clowns?
Just when I'd stopped opening doors,
Finally knowing the one that I wanted was yours
Making my entrance again with my usual flair
Sure of my lines
No one is there
Don't you love farce?
My fault, I fear
I thought that you'd want what I want
Sorry, my dear!
But where are the clowns
Send in the clowns
Don't bother, they're here
Isn't it rich?
Isn't it queer?
Losing my timing this late in my career
But where are the clowns?
There ought to be clowns
Well, maybe next year
very nice Tom
