I fucking love Rowley! I haven’t been able to skate since 2012 (wheelchair bound, non-skate related), but I can still remember my setup that I skated daily for nearly a decade. 8.25 board, loose Indys, Swiss bearings, and a set of wheels that I had skated so much that they measured around 44mm. Anytime I’d buy new wheels, they’d flat spot on me, so I’d go back to the old ones that were perfectly smooth! I was a ballsy kid doing hill bombs with those things.
When i first started skateboarding, I was riding 7.5 boards for about 10-12 years. now days i ride anything betweene 7,8 to 8,1 I used Thunder trucks for a verry long time too, but some months ago I switched to Venture trucks, and so far i think i like venture better
I first started skating a 7.5 back in the day when I was in middle school. Just picked up skating again (10 years later) and started with a 7.75 but recently just got an 8 and its been the best decision yet. Back in the day an 8 was considered big lol. Now I see these young kids only riding 8’s and higher.
8.5 deck with hi thunder trucks and 50mm wheels and medium tightness. Feels like surfing with fast responsiveness and good pop and fast flicks and good manual balances
Sure thing buddy. Good pop with 50mm and thunder his? Sounds like a piece of shit 😂. A clunky looking setup and with nipples for wheels. Just need some hydraulics and you good for a go.
I skated Indy's back in the 90's, guess that was stage 7. I ride Thunders now, i did try out some Indy Stage 11 but i didnt care for them and i ride my Thunders 147 on 1/8 risors 56mm wheels so i like the Indy height but they felt like electronic Indys, super sharp turning and when landing and missing a trick they would stay turned, i took them off and i'm Thunders only now.
Where could somebody even get older models like that? I loved Indy Lows, but i got back into skating this year and found out they stopped making them :(
How awesome is it that his board looks like that rough, after only 2 seshes? I want to imagine that at least one of those sessions, he was doing one of those infamous big ollies. Seems like every part, he has an epic ollie into something gnarly.
I figured Rowley would be an 8.0 guy. I just did a comparison on my channel of 8.0 vs 8.5 vs 10 and I was surprised on how well those bigger boards handle. I’m currently riding an 8.125 and I’m digging it
I'm riding a 8.0 currently and keep looking at Rowleys freedome decks and they all seem huge. Especially as I had his old Flip New Wave Motorhead deck and that was a 7.75". I never thought he would be riding a 9" deck like the latest Motorhead ones he dropped.
Do you guys use your right thumb to tie your right shoe? lol... I'm superstitious about my bolts being angled into the wind and the screws being perpendicular to the screws lol. ect
small wheels are terrible lol gotta have 54 mm AT LEAST ... I also used to ride 7.75 and doing flip tricks is easy even with bigger wheels. I'd says trucks are the most important thing, really, they make or break how heavy the whole board is, and how well you can ride the damn thing haha.
Love this, do a board setup bit every episode!

YES!! I find this shit so interesting.
PLEASE
staple material
I fucking love Rowley!

Oh no
I've always wished you guys would ask all your guests their setups! Would be super interesting to hear all the different combos.
8.5 deck, 54mm wheels. Nice. 👌🏼
Same. 8.5 board, indy 149s and 54 mm wheels. I remember back when this setup was considered massive
I feel like it was a weight issue “back then” but yea totally agree.
Flat Land Skate Man bruh no cap I ride the exact Same setup except thunder 149s
Flat Land Skate Man well he’s not exactly doing crazy flip tricks anymore these days.
I couldn't imagine doing flip tricks with that wide of board, an 8 was hard enough for me.
Love hearing the techy, nerdy specs and preferences on setups!
J. Filipow check out Ben Degros his channel will be like crack to you
@@David-dk5kp Thanks! Already a fan!
6:31 "LETS SEE THOSE FEET OF YOURS ROWLZ" immediately ends the video
Damn I love Geoff been a fan for almost 20 years him and arto watched them so much growing up
Kevo hell yeah man he was a serious skateboard hero back then
He became my favorite skater when I saw his video part in 411. Just amazing.
U should do this every episode I'm so curious to what everybody rides

Plus higher trucks do not mean easier manuals. Lower trucks do. Please don’t advice your mistake to others.
Thunder His aren't that tall. Love Thunders and ricta naturals. They just feel different. No flat spots.

still do that with wheels....especially since F4s don't flatspot (or i haven't been able to)....start at 56 and ride until they are like 50ish....
I’ve heard a lot of people are digging out the Indy Stage 7 and it’s still one of the best !!
Where could somebody even get older models like that? I loved Indy Lows, but i got back into skating this year and found out they stopped making them :(
The shape looks sick! Sold!
I suggest the Spitfire Chargers for anyone that likes to ride fast or is lazy and doesn't like pushing. They're an 80 duro wheel.
How awesome is it that his board looks like that rough, after only 2 seshes?
I want to imagine that at least one of those sessions, he was doing one of those infamous big ollies. Seems like every part, he has an epic ollie into something gnarly.
board looks like its two months old until he turned it over lol
2 phat ditch sessions
Thanks for clarifying the size
Love hearing about the pros set ups. Rowley went into depth too.
I’m pretty stoked on getting the “Bulldog Pup (mini)” I ordered! Thanks Geoff Rowley.
I miss my old Rowley Devil Board from the early 2000's
Haha this was great!! Thanks guys 👊🏾
It's funny how fractions of an inch could be deal breakers in board widths. Geoff's cool, he still tries to make his board last longer.
love filmer wheels, like the spitfire charger 80hd wheels lately. orbs pugs are good wheels smooth and you can still powerslide and revert.
Football shape
Reminds me of early 90s

Chris Roberts is such a real person skating a 7 75 haha best years of my life was skating that size !
P TOWn I still skate a 7.75-7.87. It was my size when I first started and never changed it
I'd always get a baker 7.75 teenage years
So I'm guessing Crob is a foot guy?
I ride 8.0 for flips and tech stuff, and an 8.25 when I'm gonna do big shit. 54-55 mm wheels, independent trucks, mob grip
Love that the skates the old indy stage 7!
I still can't believe the dedication Geoff has, he set all the wood on the roof and screwed it all down by himself. Beast of a skater, and dude.
I've always skated my best/ caught my tricks on 7.5--7.75..
IMO Rowley skating 8.5 and being as great as he is on street, says a lot.
Maybe he has big feet? Anything smaller than an 8 for me felt like trying to land on a popsicle stick.😔
i ride 7.75 too! always have, always will.... tricky to get hold of now though
I switched to 8.0 and its the best thing ever no more landing primo on flip tricks
8.06 with 50s for the park, 8.125 with 53s for the streets
recently switched to 7.75 from 8.25. I'm starting to think i skated the wrong size for years.
Skated 7.75 for over 20 years, and now I'm on an 8. Had to get used to it, but I'm fine with it now
@@trickswithjp i went from 8.1 to 10'' last year and man i feel like i wasted 10 years.
Great video! Can we pleeeeeease get Tom Penny?
geoffs such a cool guy
i remember when youll never walk alone played he rode 8.38 flip deck
I was a 7.5 back in 04 when I was 14. Went to buy a board, and the shop said hardly anyone skates that size anymore. Got me a 8
how does he find stage 7's that fit on an almost 9 inch board?
Big spin allstars wheels 55mm
I like 7.75 . Indys and 95a for uk street
all i know he rode 8.375 flip in sorry with you never walk alone song
when was the last time CROp really went out and street skated?
Yesterday
I got me freedome skateboard now I wouldn't have know about them if it weren't for the 9 club Rowley interview.
I'm 6'3 220lbs, I remember skating my neighbors 7.75 and I couldn't even stand on it, it was like trying to balance on a rope.
i skate 7.75 and im 6 ft and 150lbs 😂
Im 511 and 8 inches feels like a truck, ive been 775 since i started
Do you guys use your right thumb to tie your right shoe? lol... I'm superstitious about my bolts being angled into the wind and the screws being perpendicular to the screws lol. ect
This is dope 👌
Was able to ride big wheels in the mid 90's thanks to Matt Reason.
i want one of those yeti mugs!
"the left and right" 😂 typical roberts nonsensical filler talk
wow he has a Ringo accent, so disappointing he hasn't kept his scouse accent
It happens naturally
Where the hell is he getting stage 7s from?? I started skating in 2000 and I only ever remember people having stage 9s back then.
Rowley was getting paid to skate since the mid 90's he might of had a stash from back in the day lol
Legend
I ride indy 149 and 8.5 idk how people skate below 8 tho just feels like a toy at that size
7.75 50mm ?i need like 57mm wheels
the fact that THIS guy ducktape his shoes.
small wheels are terrible lol gotta have 54 mm AT LEAST ... I also used to ride 7.75 and doing flip tricks is easy even with bigger wheels. I'd says trucks are the most important thing, really, they make or break how heavy the whole board is, and how well you can ride the damn thing haha.
99 or 100 is too hard, i ride 97's now. Back in the day guys were riding 95's and all of a sudden wheels got super hard. Too hard.
Really about to hit Spotify with these double UA-cam ads now sheesh...wow it’s Wierd not seeing Rowley on flip he is flip
Papershredder27 who does he ride for?
How can he still be able to find stage 7s?
They probably send him ones they still have left over
I skate with soft wheels as well. Never understood why one would not go with a smoother comfortable ride lol.
Sliding. They are way stickier of on ledges, noseslides, tailslides.....etc....
Powerrrrrrslides brother
Big boards the popular thing now huh?
Let me guess stage 8
"let's see those feet of yours bro"
lukeNdestroy sound bite fs
Tripped me out when I realized pros all use 8+ boards. I always used a 7.65 and now I'm like why not try an 8.
This dude. Doesn’t answer the questions.
nick Lannin this dude , is a legend . Sooo watch it
When he speaks you listen, fuck questions
This dude lol
Love Rowley..but damn those are some ugly graphics.
imperial units are so dumb smh
