This is why I’m changing the finale of TMODRU season 1, where the creator notices that his story has strayed too far away from its original purpose and must hit the reset button, but Portal and WildFire try to stop him because it will kill everyone in the most painful way, and destroy their soul, being replaced with characters with the same identity, but it’s not really the same person, at least the ones who died before the reset get to reincarnate, but those sucked into the black hole that resets everything, are gone and replaced for eternity, and there is sadly no afterlife for them…

Honestly if the only way to succeed is to make something that your audience enjoys, why make it? It should be something you enjoy creating. I often wonder if cheesy actually *enjoyed* what he was doing or if it was just a stressful thing for him. People still ate it up but is it really worth it if you aren't having fun?
I guess the question is, can you find a balance? You can make a show that you LOVE making, that isn’t a very popular concept, but still get tons of views because you applied the notes of making sure your characters were super fun + interesting, making your stories mean something, and finding the right audience and honing in on them. “Listening to your audience” doesn’t mean “only make what other people want”, it means adjusting your content to appeal to your audience better. People don’t need to listen to this video. Anyone can make whatever they want! BUT, if their content doesn’t perform as well as they’d like, but they still refuse to change it to adapt, that’s where they have to make a choice.
