I lived in Montclair about 30 years so it's nice to come back for a visit.
Thanks for the comment @abc313. It is one of the premier towns in the state of NJ!
Montclair is a great town!
@Michael Indeed it is!!! Montclair is one of my favorite locations in NJ.
My family lives in Montclair! So beautiful!
@Dark Star Montclair is one of the best places to live in NJ in my humble opinion!
Nice
Watching from South Africa 🇿🇦
Thanks for the comment @mathapelo1987! We greatly appreciate our international viewers!
Great info. I just wish the video would not have the background blurred while showing the downtown in the beginning.
Hi @Please Think, thanks for the comment! I didn't realize the blurred background until editing. However, I'm making a return visit to Montclair this spring and will be featuring a few great dining spots. No blurred background for that episode, I can assure you. Stay tuned!
I grew up in Montclair and Verona. Greed and the influx of New Yorkers looking for cheaper apartments (among other things)has made this wonderful town so unaffordable for alot of folks.
Thanks for the comment @sha3157! Ironically, I had a conversation with a homeowner while shooting this episode on this very topic. They purchased their home (a large colonial) in 2002 for approximately $275K, and the value today would be over $1.5M! While they appreciated the increase in equity, they expressed concern with how the affordability factor will impact the diverse demographic that has been a historic staple of Montclair.
What they did to Lackawanna Plaza is a disgrace.Alot small and large NJ towns got screwed up due to catering to new yorkers which is dumb to do because new york always insulted and acted better than New Jersey
Thanks for the video. My wife and I are moving from California to north New Jersey to be closer to work options in NYC & family in the uk and Europe.
We love Montclair and it’s our first choice, but our budget of max 800k isn’t adequate for what we’d want, in this market.
Can you recommend any areas that are similar in profile and lifestyle to Montclair in Essex or Bergen counties? We especially appreciate a walkable centre, old fashioned homes and diversity. Thanks again
Hi Theo, yes there are certainly options in that price range. West Orange and Bloomfield are neighboring towns that will offer very nice properties in that budget. Email me any specific criteria that you need for your home and I will send a custom collection for you to preview.

I would also recommend Ridgewood, South Orange, and Maplewood as well. I have an upcoming episode on Ridgewood. That community has a close approximation of a walkable town center, but does not have the diversity of Montclair.
Bloomfield! Just down the road, and close enough to even walk from some spots. Recommend.
Did you end up making the move to NJ? I am a mortgage broker currently working and living in Essex County and grew up in Morris County...would love to help you if possible.
Hey there, I'm starting a program at Montclair state university soon. Can you recommend cheap apartments to rent close to campus.
Would be happy to help. Do you have a specific range? "Cheap" is a bit of a subjective term. But I can tell you that the campus is surrounded by residential neighborhoods with no apartment/condo buildings nearby.
@@newjerseylivinggroup thanks alot. I'm looking for something cheap arnd $1000 a month
Unfortunately, there are no apartment options in that price range. I recommend that you explore finding a roommate for a 2 bedroom apartment or search for any room rentals in the area.
Cheap rent disappeared decades ago. Imagine a 2 bedroom for $550 a month. Servants quarters above a three car garage $150 a month. Both near Montclair in excellent neighborhoods. Long gone....
@@joelonzello4189 Very true!
Hi what area do you recommend for a young 20 something that has a decent nightlife in NJ? NYC would be perfect but it is very expensive
Hi Andrea, I would definitely recommend Hoboken. There is a large population of young professionals that live there and there is a vibrant night life at that location. And it is a ferry ride or short Path train ride to NYC. Almost like an extension of NYC without the NYC prices. Feel free to shoot me an email if you would like me to send a few properties on the market, either purchase or rental.
Hi Andrea, I am a mortgage broker currently working and living in Essex County and grew up in Morris County...would love to help get you pre-approved for a move to NJ. You should be looking in Hoboken/Montclair/Morristown/Jersey City
Nice hairline.
Thanks for the comment @Casual Gaming.
