Correction: (AWD) means: All-Wheel Drive which is a fairly recent driving system which transfers power to the wheels with the most traction. The reason for Japan being a favoured import market for used cars is because one it’s a big manufacture of cars, Toyota, Suzuki, Mazda, Lexus, Subaru, Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Infiniti, Acura, Hino etc & such brands are cheaper to buy & maintain including spare parts unlike other European brands like Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, VW Golf, Audi etc which are all much more expensive to buy and maintain including spare parts, the other reason is because Japan drives on the right-hand side like the U.K., Uganda, Kenya, Australia, India, South Africa, Malaysia & a few others. Out of these countries that drive on the right hand side the only two counties that manufactures cars in huge quantities is Japan & the U.K. and between the two countries Japanese second hand cars are cheaper than the U.K. and also citizens from these two counties typically change cars every two years from new resulting in a big second car market for export to places like Kenya and Uganda etc!!!!
Thanks alot Kevin for this helpful feedback, You've answered my questions in detail
Wow
haha thinking same here i was wondering when they became auto wheel drive
Japan and the UK don’t drive on the RIGHT
They drive on the LEFT
@@aksamhuda7 I meant steering wheel being on the right but I know they drive on the left side of the road

Certain things matter in used cars as well, such as mileage(how long it’s been driven), previous number of owners and if it had any previous accidents. the year of the vehicle etc.
And German cars can be manufactured in Japan, or China or the US. It’s called outsourcing, that way the countries such as Japan can have German companies employ their citizens as well. The other alternative is for the country to import cars and hike import taxes. So most times it’s cheaper to manufacture within.
Thanks Byttle for this feedback
In most African countries mileage is not important.. 😂 😂 😂 That's why used cars are branded new.
You are informed about cars, why are cars expensive in Uganda, especially old models of 2008! On the website new cars cost 25000 us dollars but in Uganda old models cost nearly like new cars, why?
@@mujunansimichael7378
1- taxes. Kenyan and Uganda government probably charges import taxes and fees among others
2- transportation costs from Japan to Uganda
3- third parties- those who sell you cars in Uganda have to make profit too
4- insurance- in case the ship carrying the car sinks, want to minimize loses by making sure it’s insured, usually goes to transportation fees
5- If Uganda made its own cars, those foreign cars would be even more expensive, that is if the Uganda government is responsible. It encourages consumption of local products which helps employ the population, and the government makes more in taxes and keeps more money circulation in the country etc
There could be other hidden fees that companies have to deal with.
One way you can cut these costs is to cut off the middle man. It looks like cars sold in these lots could possibly be overpriced for their year/age
@@mujunansimichael7378 also older model cars produce more CO2 than newer version, so that also affects the costs. Some of the cars sold in Uganda would not make it to US market because of that
AWD stands for All Wheel Drive. NOT Auto Wheel Drive. That means it exerts power on all four wheels. And being Symmetrical means it puts power on a wheel that needs it most.
Thanks Keith for the clarification brother
And not all AWDs are symmetrical
Correct
Great innovation. This business has moved in the right direction in terms of transparency , customer care and management. Bravo!!!!

The way I love cars💃💃. Mr. Drive is great at marketing. Wow.
Thanks for enjoying Joy, happy to have you here
You are very right dear, I'm Aneke Mandla Gugu by name from western Cape Town base in London for business and you?
BTW AWD is All-wheel-drive
All-wheel drive describes vehicles that have a four-wheel drive system designed to maximise road traction, for example on slippery roads. It is seen as a safety feature and used by many brands, notably Subaru and Audi, to promote their models.
Thanks alot for the feedback Joseph
The reason why most used cars come from Japan is that, like Uganda, japan also drives on the left hand yet most European and American countries drive on the right hand.
But also very cheap to import from Japan compared to country like UK…since there aren’t many people importing cars from UK.
Not only The video i like
But i like how this dealer plays with his English
That makes him a good mutembeyi and i will find him for Business
Thanks alot for watching and appreciating dear
Thanks for understanding bro.but we needed more explanation about milage and more of cheaper cars
Thanks for the feedback
I actually think those cars are cheap, you should see how much it costs to have an outback like that in Nairobi.
Wow interesting video
I can't wait to see driving siyaraa 😋😋🤣🤣🤣
Wishing you the best dear
Leero mayanja onina i love this
😂😂😂 webale nyo kusiima muganda wange
It is not Legacy - Outback, it is just outback. AWD means All Wheel Drive. Two, most imports are from Japan because of the left hand drive aspect.
Thanks alot for the clarification brother
Outback and legacy are all the same thing. Its just like the latest version of Allion and premio. They are the same
@@peterkym7054 🤣🤣 legacy and outback same? Bruh!?
@@kelvinmwania193 yes its an automotive name plate commonly used by Japanese manufacterers. Its only few adjustment such as ground clearance have been added. toyota ractics and a subaru trezia is another example.
@@peterkym7054 The Legacy is a sedan with a trunk volume of 15.1 cubic feet, which is a good amount of storage space. In the Outback, there is much more space, with a dedicated cargo area that has a volume of 32.5 cubic feet. The rear seats in the Outback can be folded down to expand that capacity to 75.7 cubic feet.
keep up the good work I need to buy a car from you indeed because of good customer care given
Thanks alot for watching and appreciating
Those cars would have been cheaper cos they are used but the import tax is always higher than the actual price of the car
That's right
Good to see Ugandans are embracing the best cars in the world from Subaru. They go forever and take heavy punishment. For a good utility vehicle, Toyota Hilux, I wonder how many farmers in Uganda have discovered the great Hilux?
Good content, next time, please Toyota-Hillux double cabin pricing in UG. We’re farmers in up c’try & need farm cars not city ones , thanks .
Thanks for the feedback Benson
By the way, that explanation of petrol and diesel preference in uganda is supper correct.

Wait, a 2007 model subaru recently imported? I thought oldest car to import into Uganda is a 2008 model (since cars past 14 years are banned)
It must have been imported before and was in thr bond
The cap on importation is 15 years
Kyogereko, zino business za banene mayfirst family that's why it's even around nakasero
Thanks for changing my plans.
Thanks alot for watching and appreciating
AWD means (All wheels drive) not Auto wheel drive😄
Thanks for the clarification
is even hesitant to mention that he is selling Ugandan used.imported after it's used in Japan, then used here in uganda locally and then brought back to the market ( used *2). Also not true that AWD is autowheeled.....it's all wheel drive. nice for off-roaders but for city guys not very nice.
Kkkkkkk the guy knows nothing about cars.
I love that he includes year models, engine type and prices. I wish he talked of mileage. But good place when I return I should check it out
Alright dear, thanks for watching and appreciating dear
Return from were 😢
@@mukasaandrew6536 From the diaspora
Hmmm yema
There's a difference between Model of the car and Year of Manufacture of the Car. Many confuse these two. To say '2008 model' so super wrong.
Thanks alot for the clarification brother
This was a educational video very well put and if you are in the market to buy a vehicle never go for BMW's or any other German cars especially if you are in Africa it's all about vehicles having abundance of spare parts so it's easier to maintain just get you a Suzuki alto or Toyota.
Thanks alot for watching and appreciating dear
Thanks for the feedback too
But this guy lucks clear information and research on cars he is selling, these dealers think that they have to just import and sell. He needs to make research
Thanks for the clarification

Yet we also want to know more not only prices but also clear specifications about vehicles, tugule byetumanyi. Thanks for this channel 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Thanks Godd£n
The reason why Uganda 🇺🇬 imports from Japan 🇯🇵, its because the steering is on the right side and driven on left side of the road
Thanks alot for the info brother
no thats no true ,even uk cars have there steering wheel on the right. The problem is cost of importation like he said in the video.
Thanks for the feedback Etiang
Even Japanese don't over drive their cars as most countries because of their train system. And even the roads are great plus the right hand drive and also they don't do much maintenance. Talk from experience I lived in, us, uk and Japan.
Thanks Charles for the feedback
very informative

In Kenya we are not allowed to import any car which is more than 8yrs old from the manufacture date. Guess that's why most cars here are expensive and newer releases.
Did URA effect that policy of clearing taxes of cars below 9 years upfront at Mombasa port?

Subaru forester is one of the best AWD small suv on the market can go offroad without any hustle.
Thanks for the info
Don't say the best. If you have driven a KIA AWD your opinion might change
Very well done, just one last thing is also say the miles on the car.
Thanks alot for watching Sam, In my next episodes I will surely include that
Do you have Honda Crossroad as well?
AWD means all wheel drive, not auto wheel
Also Subaru consume more than average Toyota the guest is right about Subaru consumption
Thanks alot for the clarification brother
I like your videos. Thanks for doing a great job.
Help me understand this, I have noticed that in Uganda, they don't care much about the odometer?
How many kilometers the vehicle has been driven?
Other important things to consider are the Carfax (Accident history)
Any existing damage?
