JR, I watched the video about fuel pumps and different options that we have doing an LS swap into an original carburetor engine. I am wondering if you could go into more detail about using internal pumps.
I was down at Ryan's Pick and Pull in Detroit today, and they had one of these Dodges there. Not sure if it's rare-ish, or if I just noticed it since I saw your video and it was fresh in my mind.
Did you make a video about changing to hei distributor. I have a 85 d100 with a slant 6 motor and going with a 318 out of a 88 with throttle body but I want to switch over to carb and I’m completely lost I never swapped a motor in a dodge before
Hey, i was wondering what about motor mounts? is there any fabrication required to make it work? I have a 1989 dodge ram D250 with a 3.9 V6 and i was wanting to swap it out for a 318 or a 360.
Oh, one more thing, if you're using v belts you can run a GM 1 wire or 3 wire on your magnum. If youre going with a serpentine serpentine belt. Most of the denso alternators(like a 90s honda one) are internally regulated. Late 90s dodge switched to denso
I'm using serpentine belts, but that's good to know! Also, I snatched a starter today in the junkyard since it was just laying there lol, but thank you!

I drive a 87 Dakota with a 3.9L v6. From what I have researched, the 5.2 is basically the same engine with two more cylinders. That being said, in theory, would I be able to put a 318 on the trans that's in the truck already?
Actually no because you have a 87 dodge so it’s the LA engine not magnum. After like 89 or 90 they put magnums in the Dakotas. I have a 94 with the 3.9 magnum so if I can ever get my hands on a 5.2 magnum I could use my same trans, radiator, and possibly the same ecu if I add 2 wires for the injectors. Almost plug and play.
I've got a project in my mind I picked up a 87 dodge dakota from a friend of mine that has a v6 in it now with an overheating problem and my dad has an older hi-po 318 from an older dodge pickup from the 70s i didn't know if the older 318 would bolt up with out to much fabrication in that dakota what are your thoughts??
Well the engine is out of a 1970 dodge d100 pickup and its got some good parts on it like a rv cam, 4 bbrl holley carb, edelbrock high rise aluminum intake manifold , I just wasn't for sure if I could shoe horn it into that little dakota body and what mods I would have to do to the dakota to make it work

I've started seeing them pop up now too lol. Found one in Mason at the Upull today that may donate to the cause
Quickest video ever
what motor mount setup did you use
Right on

No, all I did was put it in, there's no trick to it

U got a video for a 318 to 360 swap
Remove 318.
Install 360.
Still be slow AF.
Mopar or no car.
Now I remember why I went LS swap. Lol good stuff man. I can send you a mini starter for those engines.

Yes, 100%
@@TheDrivewayEngineer Is that the same with with 02 Dakota?

Changing from an LA to a Magnum doesnt change the bolt pattern...
I have a Magnum bolted to my regular LA trans.
@@TheDrivewayEngineer hm im wrong then
So I have a carbed 87 Dakota w a 3.9, can I reasonably use my stock trans and bolt a 5.2 right to it?
Yep
@@TheDrivewayEngineer is there a carbed 5.2?
What are the hand signals around the 5 minute mark?
Whatever I was babbling on about and dubbed over 😂
How do you wire the distributor
Hot... 1 wire... It's hot
What happens to the ECU when you go from EFI to Carb ?
I threw mine in the trash
Underrated reply 😂
Where is the video for the motor mounts and how did you do it ?

I'm unsure, I don't believe the Dakota ever got a 318 that wasn't a Magnum with the older style, more forward mounts

Will a 5.2 bolt to a 2.7 trans, in a 300 Chrysler?
No
probably not. the 3rd gen hemis share the small block mopar pattern though.
✝️🇺🇸👍
Man, that's a ugly pick up why you don't take the motor out and put it in a better truck.I got dodge dakota that's young
Go ahead and swap it
