BIS Says Central Banks Are Well Placed to Handle Inflation Shocks

Central banks are in a good position to respond should inflation pick up again, according to the head of the Bank for International Settlements. “Central banks are in a good set of mind to address any surprises and tackle problems in time,” Agustin Carstens told Bloomberg Television on Monday. “I am very positively surprised where we are today. The scenario that we are facing today was not very likely a year ago and I think it has been achieved in a relatively smooth way.”
