King Kong is a 2005 epic adventure film and remake of the 1933 film of the same name. Directed, co-written and produced by Peter Jackson, the film stars Naomi Watts as Ann Darrow, Jack Black as Carl Denham, Adrien Brody as Jack Driscoll and, through motion capture, Andy Serkis as the title character. (Serkis also played Lumpy, the galley chef on the SS Venture.) Set in 1932-1933 New York City and the nightmarish Skull Island, the film tells the story of an overly ambitious filmmaker who coerces his cast and hired ship crew to travel to mysterious Skull Island, where they encounter King Kong, a legendary giant gorilla. Captured, he is displayed in New York City, with tragic results.
The film's budget climbed from an initial US$150 million to a record-breaking $207 million. The film was released on December 14, 2005, and made an opening of $50.1 million. While the film performed lower than expectations, King Kong made domestic and worldwide grosses that eventually added up to $550 million, becoming the fourth-highest grossing film in Universal Pictures history. It also generated $100 million in DVD sales upon its home video release. The film garnered generally positive reviews from film critics and appeared on several "top ten" lists for 2005, though some reviewers criticized it for its 3 hour, 7 minute running time. It won Academy Awards for Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Visual Effects.
James Newton Howard (born June 9, 1951) is an American composer best known for his scores to motion pictures. He is one of the most popular and respected composers for cinema, and has scored over 100 films. The recipient of eight Academy Award nominations, some of Howard's best known film scores include The Prince of Tides (1991), The Fugitive (1993), Dinosaur (2000), The Village (2004), King Kong (2005), Batman Begins (2005) (with Hans Zimmer), I Am Legend (2007) The Dark Knight (2008) (also with Zimmer), and, most recently Green Lantern (2011), The Hunger Games (2012), Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), The Bourne Legacy (2012) and Catching Fire (2013). He is known for his frequent collaborations with director M. Night Shyamalan, having scored all his films since The Sixth Sense (1999). Howard also has a reputation of being a fast composer, due to his work on movies such as King Kong and The Hunger Games, both of which were composed in approximately one month.
I can't not believe it's been 17 years since this movie came out and it's still my childhood memories.

This movie was phenomenal for its time compared to all the shitty movies coming out around its time, Yes the new Kong movie looks interesting but this one has two stories destined to unite. A true masterpiece that hits every bit of emotion with intensity. Bravo to Peter Jackson.
+*Damian Ochoa* It shared plenty of the poor quality tropes that many films around that time had. Not as bad as, say, the Star Wars prequels, but it wasn't very good.

I know Kong is not real but some how Peter Jackson, made this movie feel like it was based on a true story.

King Kong 1933 is one of my favorite classic movies of all time... but this one is AMAZING!!!!!

So many layers that one could get lost in the depth of the absolute truth of how this film relates to this broken world on so many levels. Innocent life, and the fragility of it.
To know the beauty of something so great yet so often overlooked that so few will ever know or see, and the loss of that gift is the tragic truth behind the veil that again , so few will ever see and or know in this life and that in and of itself is the tragedy of all tragedies.

5:59 jeez this soundtrack is golden. It's epic, triumphant, romantic, and sad all at the same time. It just portrays a greater mystery. I feel like with Kong and creatures alike in films, their lack of dialogue can be represented through music.
Kong is a better lover than todays men... He loved her and never left her till the end at the cost of his own life...
James Newton Howard, one of the best. Hope he can fill the void and emptiness in transcendent music that is still being felt after the unfortunate deaths of great composers, James Horner and Jerry Goldsmith.

Kong skull island its a fun, action packed and entertaining film, just for spent 2 hours, instead this film has a heart, soul, its more awesome with better characters, felt like an adventure trip and has an outstanding soundtrack, which lack in many movies

People say the movie isnt good cause Kong does not show up until the 1 hour and 11 min mark. But thats how Peter Jackson rolls. He made the LOTR trilogy which is tied with titanic for most Emmys won. So basically the best films ever made

+*Adam Hill* No, that's not the reason people say it isn't good. It's because there's a lot of awkward and unnecessary scenes in the film. Like the scene with the actor on the boat finding his posters ruined and then putting a comb in front of himself in the mirror, or the dinosaurs chasing the crew that looked fake as hell and didn't lead to anything. There's a lot of pointless, awkward, unnecessary scenes like that in the film that should've been cut. Nice score though.
this movie was a masterpiece. i loved the prolonged opening as it made us know the characters a bit more. and how cool and intense was the 'arrival at skull island sequence.

One of the best movies... Those memories of childhood... Beautifully made movie perfect story and characters and stunning visual way ahead of its time... Vfx was top notch
JNH's big yet nuanced score and Jackson's ability to create a spectacle-with-heart combined to create something that turned out to be way more than just a giant monster movie. For every thrilling and well thought-out action scene there were great moments of character. It's all held together by JNH's awesome music. It's one of those films that I think will always hold up (even right down to the VFX).

Esta música, al igual que la película tienen para mi un sentimiento muy especial, la que me lo reservo, pero lo que si les digo es que su recuerdo no se me borrará de lo que he visto, una grandiosa película que recuerda al gran clásico de los años 30.Un tributo a uno de sus actores más emblemáticos, la inolvidable Fay Wray.
Sobre todo el final , me recuerda a Coryninthus de Batman Begins . En el cine donde yo la ví todos lloraron al final

I grew up with movie,this is one of the first movies I’ve ever seen in my whole life.It also came out the same year I was born so there’s that.But this soundtrack is so underrated it’s truly incredible how emotional,epic,triumphant,mysterious,and tragic it is.This whole movie is the reason why I prefer King Kong over Godzilla and why I was team kong for GVK(I love Godzilla by the way I also grew up with him).One time this person said that the 2017 skull island soundtrack was better than this and needless to say,I almost lost my cool there.
