Magnus and all his friends in the climbing world all seem like the most wholesome people, much love from the US thank you all for inspiring me to start my own climbing journey 💜
That was really fun to watch! I love that you give the stats in metric, imperial, and % body weight. You were definitely hamming it up for the memes. I wonder what kind of activities Magnus has done that got his middle finger so strong...
I mean, Magnus was probably in the top 15 climbers in the world when he retired from competing some years ago, and Emil has sent boulders on the same level as Magnus. It's not too surprising if two world class athletes can't walk into a random gym and find problems that are very difficult for them. Route setters would have to be setting things that are impossible for anyone else who visits the gym.
love everything about this video! the jokes, the music, the editing, the way you chose to alternate tests and boulders (great idea!), all in all a great fun collab to watch, so good job Emil!
Very interesting to see how many different types of grip strength there is. My initial instinct was that if you're good at one you should be good at all, but this showed how varied and specialized of a strength it actually is! Very cool to see! And it's also always super fun to see two super strong climbers crush hard boulders.
Nice to see Emil being on the level Magnus is at and basically both of them have their stronger and weaker things compared to the other person. Good vid!
oh i must say you dont hold the unofficial record then. there is one guy at my gym who did like 120 kg at least with 75kg bodyweight. minimum. could be even more. was something between 120-180kg.
This was awesome! I reckon you two would have a bunch of fun sharing an outdoors session sometime, you have similar strengths and could session at the same grade!
I hope we get to see you try to do some of the crazy fitness challenges magnus has done over his years of collaborating with strongmen, military units, ninja warriors, etc.
This is just another sport I like to add to the fun sports. People not trash talking like in football, basketball or soccer just cheering for each other and be impressed by one another! Great stuff!
amazing video and great content. I do wish there was a recap slide at the end to show all the lifts and body weight % to basically recap though. both of you are mind blowingly strong
Missed opportunity to have Anton meet up for this video...but on that note Emil you should do a video with Anton one day when you all are in a similar geographic area...maybe try some ninja warrior.
I want to see you and Magnus compete in grip competitions after training for them soooo much! You guys would absolutely crush so many strongmen. It would be amazing to watch!
It's crazy that a youtuber's clothing brand is sponsoring other youtubers. Props to Magnus for making it big. But lately I've been enjoying your content (Emil's) more than his!
Magnus! When lifting with the rolling grip you need to straighten out your arm and then lift with your back and legs like a deadlift. You bend your arm like you’re trying to curl it. Just watch this video and you’ll see the difference in technique.
15:37 - That makes so much sense that he doesn't get that signal. He's accidentally hurt himself a few times in these videos by pushing himself past a limit that most people wouldn't even try, because of the 'I'll hurt myself' warnings.
This looks like when the anime protagonist meets his old mentor after a long time and they have a fight to test the protagonist’s current strengh, and for the first time we see that he is now on par with the master
In older videos you mentioned, that you had wrist issues and you had tobtape them in order to perform, especially on slopers, could you do a video on how you managed to work on this?
"...I'm relatively okay at it" - Literally the strongest guy in the world per pound at the rolling thunder. You literally have a superpower dude, don't undersell it!
Emil is Danish. While most Scandinavians can make sense of each other (except for Finland (crazy different)), since they all learn English fluently from a young age, and lots of cultural (even say editing video software) and climbing lingo is all in English…. it is easier to just use English. Source: American with a Danish mother.
@@br0k3nman Emil is Swedish, not Danish! Swedes and Norwegians understand eachother rather easily. Magnus is from Bergen though and that dialect can be rather tough for us Swedes to understand. Spoken Danish is really hard for both Swedes and Norwegians since they have a very different way of (not) pronouncing their consonants, written Danish is as easy to read as Norwegian - maybe even easier, for me as a Swede.
You guys are epic! If I want to train pinch strength with my port-a-board (I haven't got the quad block), would it be better to do so with the block on it's side on a wide 'setting'? Or maybe turn it vertically and pinch it on the narrow side?
Great job to both of you, this was very entertaining. Apersonal intrigue though I noticed in the lifting weights parts that Height is a serious issue. You had room to bent knees and use your legs more correctly in your stances (you even get to stand on your toes to gain more room for that at a point) while Magnus had no room to adequatly use his. The way he lifted with practically more with his upper body must be really damaging for the back and not only. i believe that there should be some kind of retractable poll on those lifts to be tuned closer to the lifter's height purely for safety reasons.
Most people only use about 30-33% of their actual muscle strength. After that they run the risk of breaking bones and ripping tendons. Adrenaline allows us to overcome this. Its why a mother can lift a car when her baby is trapped.
Magnus got 214 off the ground on the 20mm crimp. It doesn’t matter how long you hold it or that he dryfired. He broke inertia meaning he can hold it and if you run the test on a tindeq, he can exert way more force.
Just trying two finger mono on the hangboard with both arms made a tendon in my right forearm pop and 6 months later I still have pain. Watching Magnus do that single mono with that much weight on one hand blew my figgin mind, reassured me that my tendons suck, and made me cringe at the same time.

Norwegians hate Swedes, and no matter how hard they try, they aren't funny.
lol🤣 so true🤘
Normal scandanavian day ;) 👍
Let's be honest though. They both know that Emil's the daddy now
Magnus: "I feel like I'm just the worst climber in the world"
Also Magnus: Proceeded to lift 137% body weight on the 20mm edge
He’s saying that because he’s so strong and not climbing super hard grades at the moment

Magus just always throws any new lifting rules away with his pre-existing core strength
How can magnus lift more with his middle finger than on the 20mm edge with all fingers? I know on the one finger he can't slip off but still crazy
Load is placed on a different place: in the mono lift it’s on the joint closest to his knuckles, on the 20 mm it’s the furthest.
Bringing out the best in each other.
I love how he said "It's time for some pinching" and pinched all over the place.
