i love zen with all my heart and played him for 500-700 hours since release. this video would have been very useful when i first started. you really have hit a lot of the key points and new players really need to check this video out and save themselves 500 hours of hard work.
"Damage is healing" excellent! Love that! A few tips I've found that where helpful when talking to my friends that where new Zenyata. I hope they help out other people as well: go into your settings and set your teammates health bars to always visible. It will be noticeable easier for your self to seem the exact moment when enemy players are shifting their targeting from your tanks to dps or your other healer, just watch for the small initial ticks and it will give you a better feel for their current targets. I found it is helpful to predictive heal, for example, if your tank has your heal and all of a sudden his health is full and his health isn't moving, yet another team member Is slight small initial damage, it might be a sing their targets switching, and popping a fast heal on their new target, can help pre-empt some of their burst damage on one of your team mates. However, be preparedto quickly switch back. Another tip very helpful on choke points and general dps support, if your team is in a tight formation try to stand behind your dps or close enough to them so you observe their bullet directions and targets, then try to consistently spam discord on those targets to boost their damage on them, ALWAYS be weaving in light attacks and heal rotations, but by simply standing behind or near your dps you can observe their targets and help boost their damage to that target while also boosting your damage to that target, if you see a dps who is consistently stepping out of the tanks shields consider discording him/her and trying to get a fast pick. If you have good team voice chat, consider notifying team mates of your current discord target. I know a lot of those tips are common knowledge, to many, I am just frustrated with some people who bad mouth Zenyata simply because they don't understand how to boost his potential. Love the video! It helped me polish my skills more. Thank you! 😊
And transcendence can also be blocked off by enemy shields. There were a few things that we blocked off just because this guide was pushing the time limit as is. Good point though, that can be rather annoying.
Omg this is such a good video!! I love how it made me reflect and notice some mistakes I still often make playing Zen :D I don't really play comp as I find it very stressful and so I personally haven't had much practice understanding how to play any character within the context of the team comps and how to vary my playstyle accordingly :o That's why the win condition segment was really interesting!
You weren't joking when you said in depth, jeez. I'll have to give all of these guides several watches each, for sure. I decided that I want to be proficient with every support and not just the few that I initially gravitated towards, so I definitely need the help. That coaching price is also incredibly reasonable; I don't know if I should expect a response here or if I should just message you on fiverr, but do you prefer your coaching/VOD reviews to be private or on stream for content?
Although I can understand why you think transcendence isnt a engage ult. It turns out to be quite useful for engaging, for example if your entire team is about to engage the enemy you can use transcendence and your team loses risk of dying and can quickly go all out (works best if you have a rein so he can just melee everyone without having to shield. Now obviously your team also has to be aware that your going with that tactic but other than that I have to disagree with your opinion as it doesnt take full advantage of what zens ult is capable of
when reaper uses his ghost phase ability ( i forgot the name of it im kinda new around level 27) it disables the orb and its kinda annoying [edit] but you can also use your orb of harmony on a reaper on your team even if he is phasing around
I want to main him I mean I did so well with in in ow1 almost like a childhood hero but now for ow2 I do want to try him again but him having no mobility it’s scary asf because nowadays in ow2 your team don’t care at all abt u in comp unless u get lucky teamates
i do have a question for anyone who can answer. Lets say for example, zarya uses her ult on your teammate’s and youre running zenyatta, will switching the orb on your teammates rapidly create effective, slow, and steady healing or just a waste of time?
Orb of harmony only heals 30 HP per second, it likely won't make a difference in a Zarya ult, no matter what. It's even more unlikely that bouncing it from person to person (giving probably ~5-10 HP before swapping) will make a difference. You're better off sticking it on a priority target (DPS, healer) and leaving it there for the duration of the grav, or until they die.
Having trouble with these custom codes. Everytime I add AI to the lobby none of them spawn when I start the match. Is there something I'm not doing or should be doing?
I like that you said in your Brigitte guide "Nobody likes Smurfs right?" Every other guide I watched so far you are on an alt account destroying noobs lol
with the release of overwatch 2 how does the 1 tank comp in competetive affect the playstyle of zenyatta? As you can have a dive tank but missing the main tank as its now 1 tank only. Will there also be an update for guides for overwatch 2 specifically for zen?
If i already clicked on the video to watch it u don’t need to tell me what separates your guide from other guides also idek what other guides ur talkin about this is one of very few relevant and recently made guides I can actually find when I search up “zen guides overwatch”
Zen was my boy back then and I climbed to master with him. Nowadays I'm too scared to play him. I always feel so exposed and easy to kill if my 2nd support isn't watching over me. Any tips regarding that? I think most of the time it's me out of position, but even dying inside my team is frustrating, that's why I started playing Moira more
Overwatch is like that, the way you play the game changes a lot over time. It used to change a lot more but it’s been over a year since we’ve received any new game content :(
Most sensitivities are between 800 4 to 800 6 that I have found. I personally use 800 6. When I started, I just made it so that the full mouse pad swipe was a 180, but I don't think that is necessarily conventional either.
It really depends. For Me if there's a big target I usually hold because it's easy to hit them whereas when there's a smaller target I prefer to tap and aim before I shoot at them. It also depends on the distance between you and your enemy. If they are close hold, if they are far away, depends on how big their target is and the situation. Also remember to use your secondary fire if you know your enemy is peeking a certain corner or if you know exactly where your enemy is. One more thing is to be confident like what he said in the video. Zenyatta has insane damage even though he is a support and never forget that and take advantage of it. All the best
What are your thoughts on picking zen when the enemy team has reaper, and zarya? This breaks off my discords and can cause problems or bad calls, should I just switch at that point?
I think that’s totally fine. Re applying discords doesn’t take long at all so you are actually getting value by forcing out their cooldowns due to discord.
I actually ended up making that video! ua-cam.com/video/72mRrU2fBUo/v-deo.html I do want to point out that I plan on making another version of this video this summer when I have the time to record again. Hopefully this helps!

@@PAZswagger omg holyshift’s Brig guide is by far the best I came across. I can’t thank him enough for helping me master Brig in such a short period of time
I know the feels, it's unfortunately the way some ranked game play is. But consistency pays of you won't always have bad team mates, at least the enemy team has just as much chance to have bad teammates as you. I'm just trying to cheer yah up. I do know it's frustrating though.
07:05 no way u wanna orb the ball. That's just wrong in almost every situation. The ball is almost never in ur los + 30 heals per second is almost nothing compared to all the health packs he can take in those seconds.
Just because you start the fight with the orb on the ball doesn't mean you can't rotate it around. If you are playing correctly, you probably won't break line of sight for 3 seconds as well since it should only take him that long to take the engagement roughly as well. You are correct, he should also take health packs, but starting the fight with the orb on him does make a big difference, especially the higher up you go.
not sure how important it is, but you can still charge all 5 orbs with his secondary fire even if you only have a single shot left
This is true
This is actually really good to know
Yup just be prepared for about 15 minutes of downtime afterwards
it can be used in emergent cases like when u dont have time to reload when an enemy is attacking u
I found this out by accident
