I will always love thee oh sees but nothing will ever beat seeing them for five bucks in a converted garage in SF right after Help dropped and I was in the front row with a bottle of wine in me and a jazz cigarette I was passing to John Dwyer on stage. Years later I'd see them again at the el Rey in LA and talked to john outside for a minute, he sold me a tshirt and all his tapes for $20 and I had a nice conversation with my hero.
This is an orgasm for my ears. Nothing can sound better. I absolutely love Thee Oh Sees. My wife was pregnant with our first born on my 38th birthday when we saw them outside at the monument in Logan Square in Chicago. What a vibe that concert was. My son was in utero and listening to the sounds of Thee Oh Sees.
just a different direction is all. i think Brigid really helped Dwyer take his music to another level, but i am not sure the direction of hard core punk-fused psychedelic rock was her thing.... i certainly could be wrong. the crowds were growing more insane with each album coming out and the crowds and the feel at the shows were morphing into something reminiscent of early Black Flag days hahaha. i have seen Brigid with other bands. still sounds great :) but i will always kick back, have a few whiskeys and what not and enjoy the hell out of some Hounds of Foggy Notion. i think Island Raiders, Curtains and Foggy Notion are some of my fav songs they ever did. that DVD is AMAZING.
i believe she was spotted sitting in with "Marc and The Casuals". i also read in a art mag that she was painting. she is unique, for sure. pretty diverse.
wow it's crazy how much better they are today 3 years later, The sound of Petey, Brigid and Mike can't be replicated, but damn do they kick ass with the current line up.
i think this is my fav version of Carrion Crawler @ 29:10 the more i listen to the new lineup, the more i dig it. granted, the (for example) Hounds of Foggy Notion, the Sucks Blood, the Master's Bedroom and OCS (and Pink & Brown and Coachwhips for that matter) stuff will always be classic but musicians that are game changers and generational influences don't stay stagnant. they keep moving forward.
Is there any way I could trade you for the uncompressed file to get an audio recording of Lupine Dominus and Transparent World? They’re pretty rare tracks and this lineup was so killer. I’ve captured some recordings that I’d be more than willing to trade!

it's so he can hear his keyboard and vocals and mix the whole band himself so they don't have to use whatever house PA they end up. They used to just bring the PA speakers so they could play on the floor of clubs and stuff if their sound guy was a dick and didn't wanna mix them super loud. Basically: the man brings his PA so he can hear what he wants to hear. Hence why even the lowest-quality live Oh Sees recording has lots of bass and drums.
>every rock band sounds the same waahh >thank god for tame impala LOL. I like them, but you realize that there are quite literally 300+ bands out there throughout the decades that they blatantly ripped off, right?
Sorry. Without the rest of the crew, this just sounds like a different band covering The Oh Sees. Petey Dammit's bass sounded totally different and no one to replace Brigid? Not that it's bad or anything, but it's just not the same at all.....not that my opinion means shit in the end, but John Dwyer should change the name of the project....

Missing Petey, Brigid, and Patrick. Honestly I just want to live inside the Thee Hounds of Foggy Notion dvd.
just a different direction is all.

hands down a masterpiece. do you know who Brigid is playing with now? i would love to hear what sonic direction she went in.
i believe she was spotted sitting in with "Marc and The Casuals". i also read in a art mag that she was painting.
she is unique, for sure. pretty diverse.
they just played that mysterious 6th song in seattle tonight. top notch -- can't wait for a recording.
Dude this is the best live video of them on UA-cam. I love Thee Oh Sees!
Thanks dude!
agreed

Just wanted to take a second to say thanks for the upload, great video, great audio! I'll be watching this a lot.
thanks!
sweet. thanks! new line up and err-thang.
24:30 is called "Withered Hand"!!!!!
Consequence of Sound has the track on their site.
Got-DANG what a jam.
I can't feel the same vibe. Lupine dominus, especially, is not as powerful without brigid, petey and mike. Just my opinion.
Great bass!!
stunningly good
It's really clear in this performance how Lupine Dominus would eventually transform into Lupine Ossuary
57:56 is called "WEB".
thanks again!!!!!!!

Nick Murray is the man
Amazing ...thanks for sharing *)
No words ...wow
Increvable ce type !!!!
Makes me kinda uncomfortable without Petey, Brigid, and Mikey...
yeah the need for backing vocals (and in particular, Brigid's) is definitely there. good energy though.
"Transparent World" Sounds fucking amazing live! Way better than the album version.
yeah agreed. can't wait until they (i guess Dwyer and the new outfit) hit the east coast in november.
i completely agree, mikeys drumming especially, just doesnt sound the same without it
Why did they split like that? I know Brigid left because they didnt want the keyboard sound anymore but why the others?
it's Thee Oh Mees !!

Let me check some hard drives and I might come up with the video file.

Rock and roll
Not sure how I feel about the new lineup yet.
what is it with john dwyer and putting PA speakers on top of his amps all the time
it's so he can hear his keyboard and vocals and mix the whole band himself so they don't have to use whatever house PA they end up. They used to just bring the PA speakers so they could play on the floor of clubs and stuff if their sound guy was a dick and didn't wanna mix them super loud.

Every rock band out there sounds the same I feel like I'm taking crazy pills thank god for bands like tame impala
Tame Impala? I like them but they have the same sound as most Psych bands. Quit trying to be special.
>every rock band sounds the same waahh
>thank god for tame impala
LOL.
I like them, but you realize that there are quite literally 300+ bands out there throughout the decades that they blatantly ripped off, right?
Yeah, and Tame Impala is just the poor mans Flaming Lips anyway....nothing's original. Give it a rest.
Aww , you look cute today.
I know it’s late, but Osees is so much better than tame impala
the shit at 24:30 is fuckin mad.
somebody know what kind of bass he has ?
Never mind, idk.
But he used to play a Fender Vi which is a rad fucking bass.
its a vox teardrop bass i think
thanks guys
It's a Teardrop by Phantom Guitarworks outta Portland,OR.
New drummer waaah?
Not just a drummer. A whole new band.
where is the other band?
:)
this drummer works hard but seems not to measure up, not as Mike Shoun or the current drummers, in my opinion
totally dude. You just hear it
Sorry. Without the rest of the crew, this just sounds like a different band covering The Oh Sees. Petey Dammit's bass sounded totally different and no one to replace Brigid? they just change, like everything should, that's healthy
It it originally start with John playing on his own... and it ends with him too. What is in-between is for us and him to enjoy.
but don't they play together again right now?
sorry they don't
