Do you think there's some F-16 pilot in training somewhere the night before his test watching your 60 second videos to revise rather than reading the material? 😂 I know I do the same with my college tests haha
Haha! Absolutely not. I take short cuts and make it as easy as possible. Nothin like the real procedure I'm sure. Would be funny though.

@@cookie5535 I’d imagine there’s a lot more going on irl than this just due to procedure. For example, it’s possible to go from cold dead f-16 to taking off, in under a minute in DCS. But that’s only because you get to skip all of the preflight checks, instrument calibration, and system tests.
A good example of this is comparing the auto start procedure with a manual cold start. The auto start allways performs a few preflight checks, while a player cold starting often won’t. These few checks add around 3 minutes of extra time to the start up.
TLDR: there’s a lot of procedure and paperwork he slipped in this clip. Lol
My fathers a retired f-16 pilot and he says it’s the perfect pre-flight review video so maybe it wouldn’t hurt.
@@cookie5535 There's a lot of knowledge aviators have to be able to spit out alongside checklist procedures when questioned by Instructors and Evaluators.
This would be a great refresher for basic procedures but nothing more.

I bet the pilot trained thru a lot of scenarios.
Mostly they teach you how to fly, and all subjects around it. Weapon systems are easy in comparison
It definitely doesn't take a year to learn that to use an air to ground GPS guided weapon you need to select air to ground mode, the weapon you want to use, and give it the GPS coordinates.

@@BogeyDope Great content - biggest downside of DCS is the sheer immensity of the work going into learning how to do the basics - not to mention binding the keys/buttons. Really like the screenshots of the actual binds - please keep that up!

@@Andromedon777 Oh I know, it's just whenever you put the work in to get things setup and then you screw up your profile. It's just time consuming to get set up. And frustrating if/whenever you manage to screw things up and have to re-learn. Sometimes you wanna just hop in and go, not have a part time job. I get where you're coming from though.

Psst. 'Paveway' is for laser guided bombs. I don't know if there is a code name for GPS guided bombs. Just go with 'Pickle' or if you must specify, use '... Away'.

Wouldn’t say they’re completely fire and forget as you do have to maintain a laser point with your targeting pod until impact
JDAMs don't have a laser sensor to guide to a laser with. That is only for LGBs. JDAMS are GPS/INS guided.

Can you do a vid on the usefulness and purpose of the ag weapons. Like when would I want to use a JDAM vs a maverick vs a good ole mk84 ccip?
If there's any sort of air defense, JDAM is ideal as you don't need to be close to the target.
Mavericks have about 8 miles max range and a dumb bomb requires overflying the target.

What keybind to select target after tms down to soy?
DMS (Display Management Switch) down to soy. TMS is (Target Management Switch) which you use to select the target. Here is a slower more detailed overview. -

Could you confirm if the building changed to its destroyed state upon impact? I've found JDAMs do no damage to buildings in Syria, whereas LGBs do cause them to be destroyed. Maybe it depends on the fuzing
From my experience in DCS, it depends on the building. They have been adjusting building damage capacity. Just in the last 6 months, they've adjusted the Ammo Bunker and Command Post damage values to accommodate for Penetration Bombs. Now, we should be able to get a command center with one 2,000lb penetrator JDAM.

In the Hornet, you would be correct. It's the same procedure. However, In the F-16 currently, there is no TOO mode. CURRENTLY in DCS, in the F-16, PRE is both (Hornet PP and Hornet TOO) simultaneously. Currently in DCS on the F-16 we only have PRE and VIS. This is the same procedure in the Hornet for TOO, but currently in the F-16, you have the ability to use PRE as "PP (Hornet corresponding mode)" and switch waypoint coordinates with the up and down arrow switches on the ICP, or use the TGP to set a SPI. However, even while setting a SPI, there is no "TOO mode" in the 16.
