The sustain button is the reason I’m purchasing it - no other mini keyboard that I have allows this option. Thanks,
The world needs more portable
32-37 key midi controller
Totally agree! Everyone is stuck on 25 keys like it’s some sort of standard or something. There’s no significance to it at all you can have 26, or 27... I have LPK-25, it’s very lightweight and very sturdy - perfect for backpacking as it doesn’t take much space. Keys are fine, but I constantly feel like I need just one more octave. Not sure how this one feels, will have to test it out to see if they feel as good as my Akai. Not that Akai is extremely good, good enough I’d say. 32 keys will probably be a perfect compromise for backpacking. But I need some expression with the keys while playing pianos/synths so the feel of keys is pretty important for me
@@emil-9432 i am a absolut beginner when it comes to Instruments. I want to start learning to play pianon do you thing this Option is a good one ?
@Johny You need normal-size keys with a good response to learn. You can’t learn on these little keyboards because they are unable to produce the same sounds as the proper ones. Think of this as range - with a button that you can push that only sends On or Off commands on one side, and on the other side you have a digital stage piano that can capture a whole lot of extra character of your playing. These little keyboards, they’re somewhere in the middle on this range. Between on/off button and a professional digital stage piano controller.
You could be Rachmaninoff, you still not gonna get the same sounds from these small keyboards as you would from the stage keyboards.
But it’s completely unnecessary to get a stage digital piano (like RD-100 that I used to have). In fact don’t even think of them as “perfect”. They are perfect, but *only* when you play the traditional piano sounds through them. When you want to “replicate” the sound of a piano without having the real thing they’re next best thing to perfect.
But if you use these professional controllers to play *any* other sounds besides piano they’re not good at all. And that’s why I sold my RD-100, because I mostly play those other sounds.
The technical reason is that those stage pianos have weights on their keys to make it feel like the real thing. This helps a lot when you play piano sounds, and hurts a lot when you play everything else.
Also, 88 keys are only really needed if you primarily play classical piano music, which I don’t. But I still need to play any melody without pressing transpose. So what happened was, for much of the music that most people play, those two octaves (leftmost and rightmost) became unnecessary so they just dropped them creating the 61-key keyboards.
If you get a 61-key controller with a good keybed, you’ll be able to play anything you want and will have the best control over the melody possible. It will cost much less, it’ll be smaller and lighter, can’t go wrong ;)
The small keyboards like in the video are really cool for making music on the go. But to be honest, now that I make music on the iPad instead of laptop, these mini keyboards are not a huge step from using on-screen keys on the iPad. Now I’m contemplating to not bring my LPK-25 with me anymore when I travel.
@@emil-9432 Thanks for your detailed response to my question. I struggle a bit to understand what your have written but i get the most part. What i got out of it in first place was that i should get a 61 keys keyboard but i got a little problem. My pc stopped working and i need to safe money but i really want to learn the piano and after i bought a new Computer i want to use it to produce some tracks on fl with it.
The thing is i dont want to buy a keyboard that isn't compatible to a computer because sonner or later i buy a new pc. But on the other hand i can't buy a midi keyboard because i can't practice without a computer. How would you approach the problem?
Should i buy a midi together with some kind of adapter for my phone and downlaod an app that makes it possible to connect the midi with the phone or should i just buy a normal keyboard that i need to get rid off after i got a pc ?
32 keys will be very useful if you will using it for melody stuff. I got this over akai mpk mini which has 25 keys.
You kinda sound like Shawn Fonteno, the voice actor of Franklin, GTA V.
He looks like big smoke.

You can change the octave buttons to transpose.. using edit button. Another feature i like is that you can set the velocity to any number you like using the edit button. All the keys play on the same velocity that you set. Useful for drums.
Just picked this up from the store today after watching this, thanks for the awesome review! keen to get jamming
Is there is Arppegiator in m audio mini 32 ?
I have this keyboard. It’s a great starter portable MIDI controller. The 32 keys is a lot better than 25, which I had previously.
how about no sustain in put?
I've been searching video reviews of different midi controllers and you're always the first recommendation, thanks for the help! I'm sensing a common theme about you liking your sustain and pitch bend but hey, each looks for different things so not blaming ya
Thanks John! I have a Mini 32 Keyboard that I purchased but stored away for some time ----then low and behold I just recently decided to get serious about learning it as a beginner so now (thanks to you) have a basic idea of how it works so I can practice my software music agenda on my computer. It is a handy and well-built product as you stated and as a complete novice in the music field,I think it's a cool starter tool so I appreciate you getting me on the right path.Kudos!
Dope! You are very welcome!
Hey does it still work after 3 years?
can this be used without a computer connection? does it have its own speaker?
Thank you so much for the detailed review ! Figuring out which of these more affordable entry level midi keyboards is best for me to start learning to make beats ! Very helpful!
3:45 Lovely progression
I will agree that it feels really good.. & the build quality is actually really good!
It feels really solid!
the Keys feel really food.
My only gripe is the sustain button is latched.. if it was press to sustain it would have been amazing!
But I wont complain to much as I have had hell will Maudio in the past. & been waiting weeks for a response that took me past the 14 day return window..
but I will eat my words with this one.. this is great little board
3:46 I love the casual groove
Thank you for this video, love the sound, nice play🙏👍

Can you please recommend a cheap midi keyboard with which i can learn to play piano.
Should have put the keyboard in front of the laptop, because that's how people would use it. Give us an idea what it would be like to use in that scenario vs Akai LPK 25.
Loving that jazzy sound.
For anyone who is getting no sound it can be your usb cord, needs to be plugged into adapter before plugging into ipad or macbook and most importantly this will not sound until you are in the record screen of your daw. It will not sound in the playback screen. Great feel to the keys and read the instructions so you can learn how easy it is to transpose if needed.
Thanks for your honest opinion, especially since you're a piano player
Thanks, pal! I needed a decent review for this keyboard, because I am moving out for sometime and I cannot take my full range keyboard with me. I appreciate your presentation!
I came here for a review, and I also got some sweet music @ 3:46, nice!
Thanks!
Great review, I was just looking to buy some entry level keyboard for my brother and this is great.
Love your channel, bro! Thanks for another review!
I love the little midi controller, and you can setup this thing so that you don't have to keep the sustain button pressed...
I got it too because i needed something as small as possible but not sacrificing the tonal range. I just hate 25 keys because it's not enough. I'm constantly switching between octaves and it also doesn't have to be fullsize either. So there's really not many alternatives. 32 Keys is as low as i'd be willing to go. 49 would be even nicer but that would sacrifice the compact formfactor again. This thing really is perfect if you just need keys and no additional knobs.
Thank you! I’m purchasing one right now.
I bought the keystation 49, but then was looking for the mini32 as an addition for portability. Couldn't find one locally, so I bought the Alesis qmini, which is identical apart from the name! Great little midi controller!
I have a question about Alesis Q mini. Is there a transpose function on it?
Thank u, getting this friday second hand! Nice to have a look how it is!
hey, how is it? im thinking of geting one too
Great assessment. I just bought one of these, but it was based mainly on price. I was looking for an M-Audio Oxygen 8 or an AKAI LPK25 but just couldn't find one locally.
Love this controller, as well. The next iteration, or wishlist (and only grip), would have maybe a transport section right where the logo is displayed the extra branded is not needed we know what is is. -lol. #maudio #keystation32
Very useful review... nice vibe - thanks for your expertise!
Just FYI you can change things like the behavior of the sustain and mod buttons via the edit options. Like edit then the lowest A key changes sustain to not be latching
Thx for the review, basically I have a small table and need a portable keyboard. Thx :)
Being a novice, it's hard to decide.
I bought Mixcraft on sale and took a few lessons. No musician, but wanted to take a crack at some basic ambient sounds for an indie game demo I have been experimenting with.
I am leaning towards the Novation MK3, but then I saw this.
Sure, less features but I initially wanted to advance from using the computer kb.
I think the dealbreaker is not having a decent modulator.
Thanks for the review!
Perhaps: Nektar, 25-Key Midi Controller (IMPACT LX25+) - has the pitch modulation (swivel even better) and the drumpads
I have my keyboard set up with the transpose function permanently available as I use it with a singing group. It works fine. This keyboard would be perfect if it had a wireless Bluetooth facility as I need to use two iPads: one to sing from and one to connect the keyboard to. I would love to find a keyboard of this size with polyphony and transpose but either batteries & a speaker or Bluetooth facility.
I believe you don't have to hold the sustain button, but I could be wrong. I thought it was a toggle?
Not on this one
Mine toggles. I suspect that the functionality can be changed using the edit button.
Hello, thank you very much for the review, now I bought the midi controller and I am very happy with it, one question, what is the progression you used at minute 3:46
Thanks for the review. Looking for a small keyboard to stay on my desk, already have a 61 key to the side. This seems perfect but also the akai 25 mk3 seems to have blazing reviews but bit bigger. So tough.
Giglad + M-AUDIO Keystation Mini 32 : ua-cam.com/video/LE2Y7Jg-hHU/v-deo.html
thanks! I have the 61 keys one for home, but I want something travel-size to take with me at uni. I like this one because it's small but has more keys than something like Alesis Q25. I wish the pitch-bent wasn't a button, but oh well. Nice work!!
Stuck between getting this for the 32 keys or going with the arturia minilab for everything else. Or getting a bigger backpack so I can get a Komplete M32 haha. How is the keybed on this compared to any of those, if you know?
I need a piano Like this😂😂😂
Thanks for your amazing reviews! I'm looking for a 25-37 key midi keyboard with the best key quality with a joystick or pitch/mod wheels as an additional feature (knobs or pads are not important). Which one would you recommend? Thanks in advance.
The Komplete Kontrol M32 is my favorite Mini keyboard
Found that really helpful - thank you!
I got it but return it after a couple of days. The keys don't fell nice at all, it doesn't have a consistent response to the pressure you put on them, very frustrating
Thank you for your review!
Hey Mike, thanks for the review. Can I buy it for my 2 years daughter so she can start practicing or is it a pro piano?
You’re welcome! I wouldn’t suggest this for learning to play...I would suggest to get something that is full size
Hlo bro
today I purchase this product I connected to my pc but not showing in fl studio midi setting.
Help me🙏😩😩😩
I wish I could play like you man, amazing video well done
Hello! I have such a midi keyboard and it started to freeze terribly. A couple of notes and freezes .. I overload it again with a couple of notes and freezes. I climbed to look for drivers, I thought, but drivers are not needed for it. My projects are not heavy, operatives are 16, the computer is powerful. I checked all the usb ports, everything is in order, it's not about them. I don't know what it might be..
Why ever music production equipment is so expensive here in india 😭
Thanks John.
I just got this board for my birthday yesterday. I have it all setup but can't get any sound. Does anyone have any suggestions before I contact customer service.
Press down on the keys.

@@fortyoneshades no shit Sherlock. Thought I could just speak to it and it would play....Always a smart ass
Sustain button just press and leave 😀 .You can use electric piano in daw or any other that i like is a very good Keyboard handy and better than 25 key
I can't get fl studio 20 to connect to the Mini 32 for more than 3 seconds of playing. It shows up on the Midi input/output settings and I've selected generic controller but the it still cuts out, can anybody help me please.
Great review thanks. How do you find the keybed. Is it soft or noisy and clacky.
Is there a name for the piece you played at 3:46 or was it all improv?
All improv
Tremello is my new favourite ice cream flavour
that looks like a clone of the akai lpk I had years ago!
I have tried this with IPad Pro but it worked only twice. Second time it worked was after restarting the IPad but after that I have not been able to connect it with Apple original USB-C adapter neither another USB-C hub by anker. I am just assuming that it does not fully support the IOS. I loved how compact it is and also love the feel but I am returning it for a Nektar SE49 that I saw on your channel. Please advise if there is a way for it to work with IOS because I would love to keep it.
Bonjour. C.est peut être idiot ce que je dis mais il faut un camera connections kit. Comme pour des photos. C’est un kit Apple. Usb. Un genre de carte son…
PLEASE RESPOND TO MY QUESTION
I’m getting into producing and can’t figure this out. I have two usb plugs on my computer so: Can I plug my keyboard by usb to my computer and then plug my microphone to my audio interface and plug this audio interface to the other usb plug of my computer and make them all work at the same time? Sorry for the weird sentence English is not my forte.
is this basically the same as the alesis q mini? they look the same
Yes
Whts the difference with the mk 1 version?
hello, thank for that, just received it, but mine does not want to change octaves, buttons turn green up or down but octave does not change, do you by chance know why? thanks
No obvious way to transpose but it is extremely easy, two steps. Edit -> Data/Transpose (No label in the key, but the manual tells you which). Now your octave buttons become transpose buttons, up and down.
Thanks for this review, I'm going to buy a used one now:)
I want to get back to learning piano, and I see that full size is best for learning, but I want to have something I can take to work and practice chords and simple things during my breaks and lunch. Of the minis, is this one a beginner can use?
Yup! This is one of my favorites!

Bro, you made a review of this and of made a review of the "midiplus akm 320" could you tell wich one is better and why please?
Hello! I use to have a M Audio Keyboard with a Midi interface so i am quite new to the USB connection. Does it have any noticeable latency or is it all good? Thanks !
No it doesn’t
would you recommend it for like home-recording/demos ?
Is ot durable ? Since you have it since 3-4 years
I'm seriously thinking to get this so do some tracks @ garage band, will it work? I'm just getting started so I wanna be sure! Cool review :)
Thanks! And yup it will work great for that
John Mike i saw other of your videos and now I feel like the Alesis V25 mini would be a good option too haha :( which one do you feel would work better?
Paola Nicolas ha ha I like the Keystation a little better between those two...especially the feel
2:07 that sounds so good.
I started playing guitar a Yaer ago. Is it goof for someone like me who is not really experienced but wants to get into Keyboard/Piano playing?
Does this work with Ableton 10? I just acquired one of these from a friend but I haven’t been able to get it to work yet.
Could you connect this to an android phone? would be good to use as a really portable synth.
QUICK QUESTION: Should I buy Midiplus AKM320 (37 keys) or Samson Graphite M25,
btw I kinda interest with many keys, but AKM320 dont have drum pad...
any advice?
I haven’t tried the AKM320 but it is on the list to try out...but I did try out the Samson in this video(ua-cam.com/video/zSTKOq08nlU/v-deo.html) but if keys is the issue go with the midi plus
which midi controller its better for begging MidiPlus AKM320 or M-Audio Keystation Mini 32 MK3?

I would buy a 3-foot cable.
how did you get the drivers for it ??????
what apps can you use with this??

Trust me, if you want to spend time for fun you may pick up micro, tiny, or mini midi controllers 25, 37 keys what so ever you called. But if you really own money with Midi Controller you will need at least 49 keys with knobs and Faders, Bends, Wheels. Or if you already use music workstation to keybed, then you can pick up a laughpads keyboards to make drum tracks. Mini, tini keyboards can not work long time, long terms.
