I prefer Layout gloves and here's why: I've owned a few pairs of Mint gloves and had durability issues with them. They never tore like you mentioned, but the fabric on my dominant hand wore off and became pretty worthless in terms of grip. I'd blow through a pair in a season or less. I've switched to Layout a couple years ago and have been really impressed. My original pair is still in game-ready condition. The grip is consistently great and I haven't had any durability/quality degradation . I've never owned friction gloves, so I don't have any opinion on those.
I've owned a pair of layout gloves before and they worked awesome when it came to catching; it had tremendous traction, grip, and my catching ability was increased! The one thing that I couldn't get used to with the layout gloves was that it was harder to throw and release a forehand especially. I've also tried out a pair of friction gloves and what surprised me the most is that i was able to throw still and my releases were somewhat better. I still felt comfortable at catching but layout had the better grip, on the other hand, friction had the better release.
you know I played a match yesterday during a thunderstorm and I found that layout worked the best compared to friction and mint, since my other teammates couldn't grip the disc well.

Not sure what happened at 1:55 my arrow didn't get rendered somehow... The one in the back is the Friction glove.
Great video, thanks a lot!

Thank you 🙂
If you had to choose one of the three, which one would you choose to wear?
Layout.
Can you please do a third part of your diving tutorial where you show some full speed layouts? :)
Big big big fan
Cool!
Please gift me friction gloves 😔
