I worked with a woman from my church to help her go through her late husbands gun room. In his gun collection, he had an 1897 trench shotgun and a Winchester M1917, and a Remington 1917 Bayonet. She sold the shotgun at a gun show and told me the rifle and blade had been sold. Well last Christmas, and for my college graduation, my parents had purchased the rifle and bayonet for me. I have a remarked U.S. British blade made 10/16.
Great video! Brought back the memory of a WW2 era Winchester 1897 shotgun I owned that was arsenal refurbished for WW2 and the bayonet, which was a British made bayonet with the UK markings "x"ed out and US markings, the scabbard was a US style green leather scabbard with the M1910 hooks. I sold it to a collector in Texas for a pretty penny, but it still lives in the list of guns and gear I wish I never sold. At the time, of course, I was in the gun selling business, not the gun keeping business. I really enjoyed this one, drive on Airborne!
The ones used by the British home guard sometimes have the fitting for the m1910 fastener ground off to fit in the 39 patt frog.there is also a south African version with smooth grips and a 12in blade, produced by AECO.

Thanks....I had to come back to your video after my British P13 came it. Much appreciated.

Mine is a repurposed British blade. Weird though that there's no clearance hole
Great video, never new about the plastic grip version😮
Great vid. A lot of good info.
When was the leather scabbard colour changed from green the black?
I have a green scabbard for mine
Hello I was wondering if m1917 bayonet is compatible with m3 scabbard m1905
Probably not, given that the M1917 is an inch longer than the M1905.
Where can ii buy these?
Is this the same one that was used for the model 12 trench gun?
Sure is
I just bought one at a garage sale for $50, I think I found a good deal.
Sounds like a great deal!
I have the exact Winchester Bayonet. What is it worth? There's one similar listed on ebay for $695
They were also used by the British home guard in ww2
How much you buy
I'll sell you mine for $800
I have bayonet 1907
I am from Iraq and own a piece of this type, dated 11/16/1913, and I would like to sell it
I have a Remington 1917 and I'm assuming a later green scabbard. Instead of MG it has M6 and the inspection mark has DEWELL 1918.
