So much occult stuff going on in this game. Kinda ironic its about searching for extraterrestrial signals with a good chunk of the mysteries being demonic or occult in nature
I think the game is simply about interacting with supernatural activity. There is a connection between the aliens and the demons in that cursed land where the base was built. Using technology to catch alien activity to also catch demonic or haunted activity is not a huge leap.
There's even another connection, because science fully describes these paranormal stuff, we just don't know how. But aliens know, both arirals and rozitals. At least for arirals, it's one of their reason of visit - Earth is source of such anomalous activity to be researched by them, while it can't affect aliens themselves.

There are 3 endings to VOTV as of now. HELL - Kel goes to hell. WELL - Kel falls asleep in the well, entering a dream they wont be waking up from, tormented by their psyche in an eternity in their mind while their physical body drowns peacefully at the bottom of the well, lungs filling with water. FELL - Kel falls into the backrooms, doomed to wander the concrete halls for eternity, with or without light, eventually they'll stop searching for an exit and just sit down and wait for the slow, painful death, to finally tear off the sticker that is kel from the surface of the living.
4th ending i forgot to add earlier. BELL - The bell tolled for Kel, for they didn't erase the accursed lure on the drive, bringing a fate worse than death apon the earth.
I have a lot questions I may end up testing myself if someone else doesn't know the answers. Does it teleport the player to a different location/world or does it simple remove the wall of the well revealing everything? With the hook, can you reach that ladder or climb out the well the way you came? Are you able to bring a better light source or use your flashlight in there? Can other entities such as a camera or Kerfus go in there (and will they stay if left when you return)? Does the ritual knife have any use here to possibly activate the deer skulls? What happens if you burn a deer skull in that room with the other skulls? Before I even finished this comment, the wiki actually answered some of these: it is a different world altogether called "untitled_129" and it automatically drains your flashlight to 0. I'm not sure if you can bring items, but a hook is useless anyways since the entrance hole is blocked by an invisible wall, even if you got past it there's nothing out there besides an empty void; and the ladder just leads to a big deer skull steering down at you. Oh, and to enter the world your sleep has to drain to 0 while in the well.
