I tried to fpv with rc cars, one of the main difficulties is how far ahead you can see from a camera so low on the ground, which greatly hinders how well you can drive especially at high speed, i ended up realising it was not smooth a concept, but probably there could be some way to overcome the limitations. A Smooth track also helps for less camera feed shaky-ness
Great racing! Seems like a lifetime ago but I and my bro ran on track with Mike Swauger and I had the pleasure of tuning against Ron Paris one of the greatest tuner/engine builders ever... R.I.P I truly miss those days.
well i think i would rather watch this instead of f 1 , absolutely amazin, just incredible speed and control from the drivers, cant believe they ran for 30 minutes, a good friend of mine was world champ in the 90,s
I'm in awe at the control all of these guys have... I'm lucky if I can go from one end of my skate park to the other with my outcast not ending up on it's roof!
@Not Rick!!! Didn't think of that. Although, at the speeds they are going, still requires quite a bit of skill/talent. Figured a gyro was something not allowed for racing.
@Sho Yu Weeni Another person that totally misunderstands what F1 is. If you want to see close racing go and watch a one-type series. F1 on the other hand is a technical series where teams constantly develop the car and engine technology to be the fastest, most reliable and most efficient. That is why the constructor's championship is far more important than the driver's championship.
@Sho Yu Weeni Not at all because F1 has ALWAYS been a technical series. Nothing different now to how it was 50 years ago even though wearers of rose tinted spectacles always like to say differently. As for the "dorks" comment, don't be a twat, the engineering that comes out of F1 has pushed the boundaries on electrical energy recovery, aerodynamics, fuel efficiency, and materials technology. Forty years ago, you had teams running qualifying engines that would be scrap metal after a few laps. Now the teams are using 3 engines for a 21 race season including qualifying and practice. That technology filters down into the cars we drive today and maybe in a few years time when you are old enough you might be driving one too.
Exactly! Just like the nonstop action in a Madden Football tournament is waaaay better than the NFL. Lol. I learn something new everyday. Who knew there were real people who prefer pretend toy car racing to the real thing?
I used to race 1/8 scale in the late 90's. Top speed was 75 mph. These handle like go carts. With a really good setup ( 80% of racing ) it isn't super hard to drive. You get into a rhythm and know where to start the turn and where to let off the gas a little, from lots of practice. ( I raced for years in Electric and 1/10 Nitro before I moved up to 1/8 scale ) It takes very good hand/eye coordination but much of the skill is in car setup. We raced for 15-45 minutes depending on Main and a car would run 7-8 minutes per nitro tank,( as long as maybe 10 minutes if you ran it really lean ) so you had someone filling it up for you. I actually found 1/10 scale touring cars to be harder to drive than 1/8 scale myself but 1/8 scale has 15-20 mph higher speeds. 1/8 scale also cost a lot more. Every weekend I raced, I blew thru $150 minimum in tires, car wear, and fees. Motors are $500 ( high HP race ones ) and they get rebuilt every 2 races normally at a cost of around $150. Mine weighted 7 lbs or so and we ran Foam tires that are super grippy with the compounds put on them. Off Road racing was definitely much harder. 1/8 off road is close to as fast but the cars weight 8 lbs and dirt is slick.
@@daytonasayswhat9333 You are comparing F1 to freaking RC cars, that's childish, what kind of idiot would make that analogy. The fact is this is alot more entertaining to watch an doesnt take hours on end to finish.
If they had cams on booms mini bunker cams and driver seat cams as well as spoiler cams you could make it look like real nascar type viewpoints for some in your face action and have micro cardboard stand ups of fans and race officials that wave n stuff like home alone style to create a realistic scaled environment properly edited into a riveting race for a sport channel or something
I don't think anyone thats competitive uses thumbsticks for anything if they don't have to. They are terrible input devices. Pinching allows far better precision.
@@Wylie288 I think he's referring to most using stick radios instead of steering wheel / trigger throttle Tx's which seem to have taken over years ago here in land based RC. Around here you'd be very hard pressed to see a stick radio anywhere but the flying field.
This is the best R/C racing nitro powered, you really can hear thos motors. So much better than electric motors. A few suggestions. all cars should be required to carry on board cameras. Also, overhead camera is needed. as well camera for straight ways would also bring interesting shots. Make it REAL!
just for the kit only $1200 Australian, then you need, 2 servos, engine, pipe, wheels, body. then you need tire truer, engine tools, set up kit, transmitter, receiver, batteries for receiver, transmitter, fuel gun, fuel and many spares, engine components, All up I would say close to 8 or 10K. being realistic. if you were to go racing.
These 1/8 in thid video can reach 140 kph easily. And will not have problem to reach 170 kph on longer straight, and also depends on the gearing set up.
observation: a couple miles away is Ferrari, Lambourghini , Ducati, Maserati, Pagani. The scale of sound is about 1:8 also. And the huwers and food buffets are 8 times better than the China Championships video I just posted funny chit on.
shaadydog1 that’s just how racing is my friend. Passing on the track is risky of crashing and losing time by being side by side. Most times it’s best to stick to your pit strategy
There are spring loaded levers inside the axles. Push with your thumb while you pull the wheel off and that's it. To install a new one, push on and twist until that lever clicks into place. There are grooves on the back side of wheel that interface with a pin do create the drive.
60MPH is ballpark on straight with a 2 speed transmission. The real speed is how much they can carry through corners. I've heard claims of 20 lateral G's which sounds accurate from cars I've driven on a VHT prepared surface. I have no idea what they allow for track prep in Europe nowadays.
These drivers are on a whole different level. Kids, if you haven’t been around the hobby for long, this is the top!
I love RC. turned 60 this year. This was AWESOME!! Exciting racing. Ok, back to work on my TT -02👍✌️🙏
Acceleration on these cars is amazing I’m blown away
That is the reason why 1/8 scale nitro is sometimes called the F1 of RC.
Would love to see this sport as big as F1. Imagine these doing crazy speeds and with fpv.
Quarter-scale (go cart size) would be about the same speeds and be a third the price.

Must say the cameraman is very good. Zooming in and out with precision and empathy.
What an amazing race!! Definitely a blast to watch

Thank you Roger B! I still have the RS4 F150 and it runs!
Amazing skill and team work, the cars are so fast and handle incredibly well!
More interesting, than all F-1 from 2010 till 2019
uhm, are you stupid? 2012 is the best f1 year of all time

Whoa. Unbelievable speed and control.
Hand eye coordination to the next level.
Wow Grenier getting held up so much at the beginning I never thought he would make it up. Unbelievable. What a race.

I'm gonna need about 30mg of Adderall to concentrate that hard for that long... Props to the camera man, that shit felt exhausting
And lets not forget the commentator, I was thinking the same thing about him
Not enough props in the comment section for the camera man
🎥 the most professional camera work I have ever viewed in my life. That camera man is absolutely amazing💎
I know right😂
No shit 😆 that guy earned his money that day
I used to race 1/8th back in the early 80's. My God things have moved on a bit!
No they haven’t
This sport + F1 budget = Epic
that shit more fun to watch than any nascar race i tried to watch
talk about being in the zone. Thats super concentration
30 minz is an awful long time to maint such concentration and precision. 👌
Too much time. Who wants to watch it. even though I drive rc.
Has anyone actually watch the whole 31 minutes of this?
Sorry ... I didn't
got to 10 and tapped out
every minute
I did🔥😎
The spacial awareness of these drivers is amazing. How do they turn those cars so tight round the corners?
You need skills and very well tuned car...
But the most difficult is not to drive like this, BUT TO KEEP THIS RHYTHM WITHOUT DOING MISTAKES. Trust me
Ape from the kitchen of Enki and Enlil. - lots of practice I assume

Install a speaker on an electric car. You get a car that sounds just as good but faster, cleaner, more agile and durable.
Scale speed? Maybe 300mph
tires really need changed after 8 min of racing?
Imagine having to fill your car every 3 minutes
