@@Sip_Dhit Recording original hardware is definitely more complicated and expensive due to hurdles with converting analog video to digital and refresh rates not being exactly 60 Hz. It's definitely something that takes a lot more effort to get right. Then you have to set up every console before recording or you have to have everything set up with switchers, maybe have two televisions.
I don't know what their setup is like or what their new(er) office looks like, so maybe they just decided to go with the easier solution of using emulators on PC and Xbox. Still, I miss when the video looked like it came from the original console. It felt, like, more warm and cozy imo.
It's how I used to do it on my old gaming channel, and I'd playfully tell the viewer I'm definitely not using an emulator!

Yasunori Mitsuda, who wrote the music for Xenosaga, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, as well as some of the music for Another Eden and Sea of Stars, also worked on the music for this game! He said it wasn't fun to work on. :)

No joke, I still have a callus on the palm of my hand from playing this game 25 years ago because I used my palm to quickly rotate the N64 joystick in the mini games.
Nintendo owes you. You should pirate their entire library as a means of compensation.
It was a palm burner for sure. Not many games could cause real injuries like Mario Party

i remember the pain of playing this game with my friends. We had way too many days, where we stopped because one of us started to feel pain at the center of the palm. You can toughen it out, but it'll only end with a bloody circle the size of an N64 joystick.

This Mario Party was my life. It was the only one I had for like... 10 years. I went from Mario Party 1, to Mario Party 8. I did eventually get the ones in between. But I played Mario Party 1 so much that I didn't feel like I needed another for all that time.
Me and my family still go back to it sometimes.
My friend who owned this game had a sleepover every weekend, so a bunch of us would stay up all weekend playing Mario Party 1. Fun times.

Fun fact: The first Mario Party game is the only one in which all 4 players' die rolls are decided at the beginning of each round, meaning during the turn bell after the end of each mini game round, as opposed to during any player's actual turn. It's decided during the actual die roll in all following games.

Me and my little brothers used to play the first Mario party and we basically would always team up against the hard computer cuz they were so hard that a bunch of elementary school kids couldn't win unless they all ganged up

I’m kind of surprised that they didn’t run into games that you had to use the palm of your hand to rotate the control stick. They made a specific safety glove specifically for that because it was so bad.

I'm pretty sure the dice in the original Mario Party were deterministic based on timing. The high rolling speed and the lag after pressing the button before the value locks in was supposed to create randomness. I wonder if hard AI is literally better at rolling.

Mario party 1, has special die. You have to buy them in the shop. And then turn them on, and you can use them on the boards. They will appear randomly. Warp blocks, but they work very differently here.

I like how they mention they didn't even have good A.I. when this game was made and didn't connect the dots that the hard cpu's just cheat the whole game to up the difficulty

Turns out a the game is harder when you deliberately choose to let the enemies have stars instead of getting Bowser.

As a kid, this game is DEFINITELY one I invited my Nintendo 64-less friends over for so I could beat their asses and feel good about myself.
People have probably notice this before, but I love how the Shy Guy Says, and some other mini games, music syncs perfectly up with Take Me Out To the Ball Game after the intro.
I remember I got to the end of mini-game island. That last mini-game being a super hard slot car derby that I couldn't beat. Loved that game, until my older brother traded it without my knowledge for a copy of NFL Quarterback Club '98

The Toad voice thing is weird. The smoker Toad voice is his original American cartoon voice, but the actual Japanese devs kept it cute for a while until they brought back the Marlboros. The probably thought it was more "distinctive".

Really bringing back some nostalgia with this one. I used to play this all the time with my family. Especially when I'd have to spend nights at my step grandparents. I remember doing a 50 turn play with my mom stepdad and little sister, having to keep the N64 running overnight to finish the game because it was like 3 and and we were just barely half way through. Have fun boys. Have fun going insane at how hard and how stupid the rng is in this.
