All my little cousin ever wanted to be was a United States Marine. When she was little, instead of dressing up as a fairy princess or some such, she would dress up in a miniature marine uniform. When she reached high school she maintained perfect grades and was able to graduate a few months early in an accelerated program. Her motivation? So she could enlist on her 18th birthday in February which is exactly what she did. She was a United States Marine for 13 years. Then one day she got a debilitating headache. It turned out to be a brain tumor and completely unrelated to her service. Some time after that she received an honorable discharge. She lingered for a few months but somehow managed to enjoy a more or less normal life for a while. Then one day, while out for a stroll, a little toddler ran out into the street in front of my cousin. A car was coming down the street at a high rate of speed. She jumped into the street to push the toddler to safety and into a patch of soft grass. But she could not save her own life and was hit and killed instantly. My cousin lived to be a Marine and died a Marine. I would say her behavior was typical Marine behavior. Natural born heroes everyone of them. My cousin was buried with full military honors and of course in her dress uniform. As a side note, the day before she was killed, she had been informed by her doctors that there was nothing else they could do for her. It turned out she had either days or weeks left to live. For some reason, this video reminded me of her though nearly as many showed up. She didn't die in the line of duty. But she did die in service to others while performing her human duty, again, typical marine behavior.

If you have never been handed the folded flag of a loved one nor experienced a service of someone whom you admired, loved and respected, then I can't express the mixture of emotions during this time. It's a mixture of sadness from the loss of your loved one and yet pride from the honor and respect shown to them at the same time. To all active duty personnel, may God Bless and keep you during your time of service and to all veterans, thank you for your service to our country behalf of a grateful and thankful nation! 🇺🇸 🇺🇸🇺🇸
I was handed my Dad's flag. He died at the age of 44 and had been a Korean War vet. I was 16 at the time. The church where the funeral took place was not nearly big enough for everyone who showed up. At the burial service, I remember the sailor handing me his flag and saying similar words to me. He didn't die in the line of duty like this Marine but he did do his duty. I still have that flag in a frame in my office along with his medals and his military portrait.
I was presented with the flag of the United States of America on behalf of the President of the United States, the United States Army and a greatful nation. This video brought mist to my eyes because it revived long sad memories. As I always say: Only those of us who have lost know the feeling. When I say: Home of the Brave, I'm thinking of you who laid yourself down so others will live.
My brother, sister and I was handed a flag at my daddy's funeral. He did not die during service. But he did serve in the Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He was 80 when he passed two years ago. He has taken me to the tomb of the unknown and Airlington.

So please don't make this political as both republicans and democrats are to blame and in the end our kids are the ones that end up in the front lines fighting those stupid wars while all the politicians are protecting their own kids and selves from ever serving

I stumbled upon this while drinking my morning coffee and contemplating my life. I am not a believer in a biblical God, but I am a believer in something larger than us. I am this 🇨🇦🇨🇦 yep a Canadian and I comment here because I have too. Over the years I have been involved with Canadian Soldiers and kind of indirectly, American Vets. I don't care what flag you serve under, if you stand for freedom, then even in my old age I stand with you in heart and mind. I have come to love the people who have signed a piece of paper and said, "I will stand for your freedom, I will protect your family and I will die to do that if needs be." Canadian Soldiers, American Soldiers, British, Anyone!!! Who fights. For the freedom and protection of the free world, you are all in my heart. I know every time one of you are gone I think, " There is another who will not be in this world with friends, loved ones, I will never have a chance to meet them, fish with them, listen to them with an unbiased ear. Yet I look around me today, yesterday and tomorrow and I wonder, are we doing our part? Are we holding the fort on our domestic front and caring for all of those that all military in the free world, stands to protect. Think long and hard about this. Our Military is made up of all colours, Races and creeds. They represent the best of us. Do we, are we, living up to them? Are we fighting hatred, racism, bigotry here at home so they can look and feel they have something to fight for and come back to? That is our job, that is what we do, here. We do not have to endure months or years of training to do this. We are people, like them we are brothers and sisters, we are parents, Aunts, Uncle's, Husband's, Wives, we have all got the same responsibility as our military have. Sure some of them are not of the best material, but racists are in the minority, bullies are in the minority, those who do crimes of all kinds are in the minority. We need to support our Soldiers here at home, so they can come back and feel pride for what they do. Stop this domestic BS going on right now. That is your job, my job, we do not sit back and let the military do their job while we sit at home bitching and whining about our lot in life. We do not sit on our asses whimpering about civil wars, separation, our sad lot in life. Like the Marines, the Canadian Infantry, the Navy, the Airforce, we extend our hands to each other, acknowledge the differences between us and find strength in those differences and love in those differences. We are not Republicans, Democrats, Liberals, NDP (Canadian) we are not the Labor Party, we are not foolish wastrels! We are people, just trying to have a life and in doing this we take the lives of good people like USMC Sargeant Nicole L. Gee and so many like her, we lay them to rest and thank them for their service. Then what? That is the question. Do we allow a few self indulgent fools with no consciences, to divide us in our thinking or do we remember that this place we live, in wondrous diversity, is made stronger when our hands and hearts are intertwined? It is something to consider. Rest in Peace Nicole, we got this. Love to you all from me.

As an ex USAF Nurse during the Viet Nam war I watched this getting a tremendous eye wash. These modern day Marines truly are a great generation also. No Hero of this 20 year long war will be ever forgotten for his dedication and commitment in the fight for a safer world and certainly not what happened in the last few days in the fall of Afghanistan.
I did visit the United States several times in the past and it was my intention to do the same last year 2020 as this year 2021 with a visit to The Military Women’s Memorial honoring women’s contributions to the service of their nation and Arlington National Cemetery but the world changed last year of COVID-19.
Many thanks for your time and understanding. Thank you and God bless family and friends.
Yours faithfully,
Andreas G Sillen

We certainly do not have the Patriotism in Aust.either 🇦🇺
My condolences to the family.
They were on a mission drawn up by a bunch of idiots that unfortunately cost them their lives....no consequences for the idiots...and a coffin for brave.
From an Army active duty veteran, God bless you, Sgt. Gee, for you will never be forgotten, and God bless the United States Marine Corps.
@@armybeef68 whatever floats your boat bro. It's not about me. It's about paying respect to Sgt. Gee.
To the family, thank you for supporting her decision to protect this country. Being a retired Army warrior I will not get into politics but thank you and I am sorry for your loss. To the 5 at this point that did a thumbs down, I hope that you move to Afghanistan so you can see how nice you have it. It is a great thing that you have to cower behind a computer and do a thumbs down without having to say why. No matter how many rights we are loosing now, we still have way more than most countries. God Bless the USA and all that defend it!
They have the right to free speech because of people like you and I. That served...they forget that....thanks for your service..God bless you and ALL Americans
I as a Veteran of Her Majesty's Royal Airforce, I salute all our fallen family, so others have a life without worry 😢
Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻
WELL SAID
My brother, sister and I was handed a flag at my daddy's funeral. He did not die during service. But he did serve in the Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He was 80 when he passed two years ago. He has taken me to the tomb of the unknown and Airlington.
God bless you all. Heaven has another Marine guarding the gates.
Amen

@@loveusa1574 I have a son that has just graduated from basic training in San Diego MCRD on 10-15-2021 so he officially became a US Marine and to be honest we are so proud of him and I really didn't want him to join for this very reason but it was his decision to make and we are supporting him for that so I hate that some of you are making this so political and blaming only one administration and not the others in my opinion we were not supposed to be there since at the very least 2012 when Bin Laden was killed and maybe earlier than that so maybe we should blame ourselves for not demanding that both republicans and democrats administrations should have pulled us out of Afghanistan and all those stupid wars way long time ago as both are to blame for our military personnel getting killed for nothing as after all Bush started that war.

I have come to love the people who have signed a piece of paper and said, "I will stand for your freedom, I will protect your family and I will die to do that if needs be."
Canadian Soldiers, American Soldiers, British, Anyone!!!
So beautifully said thank you! ❤
Pray you find God
