- 12 cars I've always wanted-bought within two years. The Maserati Gransport has been sold.. time to look at the options for car number 9!
In the running are a Porsche Cayman S, Lotus Evora S and a Mercedes C63 AMG
I Like to subscribe, Like and watch the adds for this channel as I'm super interested in the projects and want to see them all through to fruition. Top stuff, Thanks.
That’s great thank you!!
If I were in the position to get a maser, I'd be plumping for a 4200 manual. Maybe not a great manual, but it is a manual
I've driven the GranSport coupe, and also the Spyder GT (manual) and the Spyder Cambiocorsa, and I think they are really enjoyable cars, especially for the money. You are getting what is very close to a true Ferrari experience for nowhere near Ferrari money, and remember Maserati was racing cars long before Ferraris came along! Here's my review of the Maserati: ua-cam.com/video/RK6vMmc_-vA/v-deo.html
I did love the engine!
nice trim spec. beaut engine. most Maserati need suspension tweaks.
haha the first thing that came to mind was an evora... and the next thing I see.. is that you want an evora. A few ideas outside the box: deTomaso Panthera, alpine A110, alfa giulia gt junior, a Venturi (260 or 300 or 400GT), ford rs200... or you could just go for a Vantage V12?
great minds think alike Augustin!! some great suggestions in there thought the Panthers, A110 all too pricey!
just found your video while I was looking to buy a GranSport in Australia , thanks so much for sharing the owner review ! I have heard the Cambio Corsa has improved a lot over 4200GT and lower suspensions . it is a sportier version of 4200GT , did you enjoy the ride quality ?
Hey, I honestly would just get a 4200GT.. the GranSport is flawed and is neither a sports car or a tourer. The engine is the best bit and is pretty much the same on either version. Gearbox is not really better on the Gransport, just software and that can be updated or just buy a later GT which will have same software. Good luck!
@@Number27 thanks , good to know that . I think I will leave 4200/Gransport on my wishlist , I have found a clean sample of E39 5 series another car I have always wanted and It is a comfortable cursier
Z4 coupé!
Historic tvr... Grantura, vixen,...
Pls more historic Cars :)
Looking at TVR's too and must feature one sometime for sure.. was thinking of a T350C? what do you think
Number27
More historic :). 60's!
Tvr Vixen, Grantura,...
Mazda rx3.
Nissan fairlady convertible, 2000gt skyline
Alfa Giulia sprint, Berlina,...
Lotus Elan 26r
Ford Escort rs2000
I know some are more pricey but sometimes you can still find one at good price
My personal tast... Historic (track ready) Cars.
I think you should try an E34 M5, 3.8, 5 speed
would absolutely love one of these but can't afford one. I hope to be bale to borrow one for a video!
Lotus Evora! On a personal note; Cayman or a 996 to purchase? I'm a little torn at the moment, would be interested to hear your thoughts mate. Cheers.
if you have to have a 911 then the 996 is a great choice.. for pure driving thrills the Cayman is a better car as far as I am concentred. They are simply fabulous handling things!! Thanks for watching buddy!
The 17k 996 video was perfect timing! Keep up the great content ;-)
What about the maddest choice of all... The TVR Tuscan?
Was actually thinking of a T350C? really love those. Thats a definite possibility for one of the next cars.. just have to feature a TVR at some point.
T350c cool too... Sagaris would also be Badass. Unreliable, and not a practical keeper but TVR's are everything this 12 car mission is about.
Got to be the evora👍🏻
You might be right Ben... but no deal is done as yet. Watch this space!!
Absolutely stunning shape, the sound, she was beautiful to look and listen too . . . . The drive, mmm, not so, hey ho.
Renaultsport Megane R26.R? ;D
They call it "poor man's GT3" ;)
Selling it! You've only had it 5mins
I know :(. but that is the nature of doing this 12 cars thing!
I really like your laid back style and honest reviews. You give your opinions and explain why, and then it's up to us viewers if we agree or not! :) Personally, I love the Gransport best among your 12 cars so far. So much design and so much engine for not a lot of money. What's your experience or opinion about maintaining a Maserati Gransport in the long run? Does it require expensive service every year?
Hi there.. yes an annual service is essential.. at least if you ever want to sell it again. it's mainly oil and little things but the service items are expensive. So not cheap to run> personally if I was buying to keep I would go for a standard but facelift 4200. The GS premium of £10K over an equivalent car is just not worth it and the stand car will also ride better which would suit the character of the car more. Thanks for your compliments and for watching the videos, much appreciated!
Great stuff, Jack. Of your three choices then, as you say, it'd be interesting to know what you think about the Evora.
Other reasonably modern choices: Nissan 370Z, Alfa Romeo Brera S 3.2, Mitsubishi Evo X FQ330 with SST, Subaru STi, Toyota GT-86, VW Golf R Mk6...
Great suggestions Chris.. I think before 12 cars is over I also need to have done one TVR and one Aston?
Really enjoying your videos, great concept well done for creating the content. Next car should be a DB9 absolute no brainer! Loved the Esprit 🤓
As an ex Cayman S owner I must say that it is a fantastic car, and probably the only car I have ever sold that I miss. I agree with your comments though. I think it is time for you to experience the Evora, as it is a bit more dramatic than the CS. The C63 would be be comfortable and much more practical. It sounds great, but doesn't have the sense of occasion of the other 2.
Good you're in agreement Jeff!! Come to the Uk soon, would be great to meet up!
Definitely
Hi Jack, I didn't know you'd been on UA-cam for such a long while. I only got your videos suggested to me when you bought the Influenzo. I'm really going to love watching your back catalogue.
As i told you in the GS vs 997 video, the more you foot down the right pedal, the fastest it changes. It is a faster gearbox than the 360 modena F1. But for example, the M3 SMG has various programs you can use pressing + or - button, and the GS just have two presets, the super slow, the sport (a bit faster) and full throthle (real beast).
Any idea where the car is now? I’m trying to find one in this spec and having a tough time - I’m obsessed. If anyone is aware of someone with a silver or grey gransport with the full cream leather please IM me.
I think biggest issues is lack of understanding how this F1 gearboxes work , with the speed you are showing in the video and the revs , F1 changes slow to prevent the lurching , to activate Corsa gear change you need to change between 4500-5500 RPM then you see how fast it is. People always confuse the F1 with other paddle shifter boxes while haven’t learned about the nature of F1
That's true, but as an owner of a Gransport, I can tell you that changing between 4500-5000 is not always a sane thing to do given how quickly this car picks up speed! Sometimes you just want to cruise, don't want to rev (don't need to) but want a fast gearchange.
And the fact is, the majority of the time, the gearchange speed is slower than you want.
That's why you install the formula dynamics DBW and unleash the proper gearbox changes!
I bought an Evora S (2014) a few weeks ago. Very pleased with it. I think they are under rated by the masses, but when you drive one its a different story.
You're exactly right, very underrated I think. Would love a facelift model but it's out of my price range. Thanks for watching Sean!
Any TVR would be awesome, if you like to break down a lot that is haha...No id go for the Evora because as you say the Cayman is a keeper
Agree. Cayman too obviously good to be that interesting. Evora is just so underrated and priced well right now it would be great.
Carl Harvey TVR Cerbera
Yeah its a nice car, i drove one years ago...well when i say drove one, it lasted about 1/2 mile then packed in haha
Hey Carl - Yep a TVR is on the cards.. watch this space for cars 10-12!!
The Maserati GranSport is fabulous!!
Look at that headliner!!
£3k for something you never look at
I think and Evora S would be great, such a fun car to drive and great value!
Good to see a lot of love coming for the Evora.. I really did like it a lot!! Watch this space
Evora S should be car number 12, because you'll want to keep it!!
That's very true!!
Only 8 cars? You missed off the best one yet - don't forget little Sofia! I've literally lost count how many times I've watched your videos of her. I'd be hard pressed to let go of that Maserati though, it's absolutely beautiful. My friend recently sold his C63 saloon due to his growing family. He took me out in it a few times and I remember it being absolutely awesome, so I'd go for that. Except my wife kept saying, "why does it make that really loud noise when it starts up. It sounds silly". I obviously told her to go away and have a word with herself.
Another fantastic video Jack anyway - keep 'em coming.
Ewan Turner Sophia for sale, see it at Excel show next week!
Jago, I would be VERY tempted but alas a lack of space prohibits :(
I never really included Sofia in my 12 cars thing because it was not a sports car.. with hindsight though I should have!! Love the comment on startup noise from your wife!!
Carl Harvey, TVR that's possibly the best idea of 2018 😉
Yep, TVR love is definitely there!!
Evora is an awesome choice! I also dont like white, grey and black cars. Bit I think that the red on that evora is too bright/too candy-ish. The white car also has nicer wheels and those black accents look great. Depends on the interior. Whatever you'll choose, I'll keep watching ;)
Aston Martin v8 vantage or a db9 !!
Yes.. an Aston and a TVR definitely have to make the list!!
I thought you'd find that gearbox would get in the way of fully enjoying the Maserati, a fantastic looking car but not a keeper. The Lotus looks nice although you will lose a bit of cash on resale if that isn't your keeper. (Jayemm's channel has lots of useful info), it's one of those cars that I would not buy private. Looking forward to see what you do
Col hoping that by purchasing well I’ll be ok with the Evora.. found one at a good price I think! Have been in touch with JayEmm about the Evora already. Excited about this one!
Merc is 6.2 actually!
F355? :D
Would love one but a decent car at £60k is beyond reach.. plus I'd need a garage :(
A bit cheaper than where you are at but I think an S2000 or 350z would be interesting to have for a few months.
Absolutely and were on my original list.. still a possibility for one of the next cars..
I heard they leak? Friend had one in Melbourne, air con meant water gathered in passenger foot well?
Yep, one of the cars I saw suffered from exactly that. Air con matrix leaks and it's a dash out job to fix. however it's not that common. Also dont bother getting the GS, just get a normal 4200, more relaxed suspension settings suit it better and at least here in the UK the 30% premium for a GS is simply not worth it
Enjoyed the video Jack but I'm sorry to see the maserati go it's a really good looking car .
Go for the lotus ! C63 possibly just a fast reps car !? A mate of mine had a c63 and it emptied his wallet on more than one occasion with problems 😕
I think we're thinking along the same lines there Ryan! looking at a couple of Evoras right now.
Number27
Hopefully I'll be watching your new evora soon then Jack 😊
Great episode! Well I'm reluctantly selling my 996 C2 but as it's not a 996 Turbo or a GT3 it was never going to be a long term keeper, tho I will miss it. My next car will likely be an Audi RS5 2010-11. I test drove the C63 AMG 6.2L 2009 the other day and it was a hoot except wifey couldn't get comfortable in those heavily side bolstered seats. I also test drove a 2011 Audi RS5 coupe and I loved it, set it to drive mode 'dynamic' and it's catch me if you can plus the exhaust note of the NA V8 mmmm just imagine toolman Tim grunting orgh orgh orgh. The Evora looks great, would love to see your take on it, but as a suggestion if you haven't already driven one, test drive the RS5.
hey Carlos -I will have to try an RS5 for sure, awesome all round cars, very capable and the AUDI build quality helps too! Interesting to hear your take on the C63. I think I've discounted that one for now!
Number 9: Get that Skyline back
Good call!!
maser better satisfaction than a 997......hmmm.
I would say so Gerry.. 997's very, very good and the better car objectively but the Maser is just more special.. but each to their own.
evora s: v8 esprit; 944 turbo s; 308; gtv 2000; 996 turbo; early sti or evo?
Loved my Esprit S3 turbo.. V8 a bit too similar but dont discount it for the future. Owned a 1750 GTV, great cars but would need to garage it..and domino have the space. 944 is on the cards as a future car along with an STi and EVO. THANKS for your suggestions!
the late V8s - especially 2002+ esprit is different animal but point taken on mixing it up a bit. Also thinking M coupe or Z4M Coupe.
have you considered an s1 elise?
Yep, was on my shortlist for a long time.. however with the 964 becoming more and more a track based car I wanted to get something a bit more road oriented. Same reason why a Caterham did not figure this time round. I suppose the 12 cars thing has become a bit schewed because of the way the 964 has evolved!
Go for a ford focus RS mk2
Peter Gadsby interesting idea.. you know I’ve never really had much appeal for fast fords aside from the Escort RS COSWORTH
Do u think the grand sport will go up in value
HI!! I do.. it's rare enough and special as car. Not my personal favourite though. Thanks for watching!
Number27 thank you for the feedback
Nissan GT-R Giac ?
Already had the R32 which I loved.. were you thinking R35?
B5 RS4?
On my list but want something a bit smaller this time.. also I drove a 650hp one (one of my vids) and a 'normal' one might feel a bit slow!! ;)
v8 vantage; sl amg; b# alpina, e39 m5: b7 rs4
Never wear PPE Never Take the Knee and ......never buy a flappy paddle gear shift. ever.
