Once people stop giving into these companies and truly standing up to them with their wallets, they’ll keep limiting and taking more and more. Their is no roof for greed. I cancelled Netflix and subscribed elsewhere and still stand by it. Wish others would do the same not just pretend on Twitter. They are really going to charge by screen time next.
Actually you are wrong or I’m mistaken. I have Netflix and can only watch on my own home, my daughter has tried numerous times to log into my account from her boyfriend’s home 11 miles from me and it won’t let her. These streaming services are a joke.
They don’t want people sharing because it takes money out of the giant conglomerate pigs bank account. I am so sick of them having the upper hand. I hate corporate greed. If a family member can’t afford a pay subscription, we should be able to share our Subscription with a family member. Even Netflix pulled the same the same thing. No sharing. How on earth do they know when someone is sharing anyway?
I think they might try doing that. I used to never have to put a four digit code on the TV to watch Hulu or Disney but for about the last month I have had to do that
MASN = Mid-Atlantic Sports Network. It's co-owned by the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals baseball teams. This network was created because the teams got tired of dealing with Comcast's crap contract. The launch of MASN all but killed Comcast's own RSN in that region at that time, Comcast Sports Mid-Atlantic
I have my sons Hulu and Disney password.. guess what, I never watch it even with it technically being free to me. But the problem I see if you have one of those services and you want to watch it somewhere other than your home and they deny access there could be a problem.
I would call them and ask tell them your situation no different than netflix they might offer solutions. I think you would be able to stream on mobile devices but ask them first to make sure.
You can, using a mobile device. I used my Hulu + Live TV account on a laptop to watch a football game in a different state. I live in Iowa, but I was in Wisconsin at the time. I used an HDMI cable to stream it to a TV when the satellite was out.
I think you will be fine. It's more about somebody being signed in in one place all the time plus somewhere else at the same time or a lot of time. Even with Netflix Crackdown I know people that only use Netflix on the phone with no Wi-Fi at home and they have never had an issue.
Question for Luke. With Hulu Disney+ etc cracking down on password sharing what happens if I own more than 1 home? Will I have to pay extra or is there a way to prove I own both?
They get it when you sign up, log on, or open a free program, its been part of the internet software protocol since the 'open' internet got rolling in the late-1990s IIRC. It a simple match of your ISP to your password. Its used as a security feature, too; a lot of times if you try to log into your bank account from a different device than you normally use it'll stop you and march you through some serious authentication protocols.
No I don't think so. You pay for a service and you have to follow their terms of service. It's really no different than Costco checking the membership cards.
Happy Groundhog Day Feb 2, 2024. Ask Bill Murray in "Groundhog Day" (The Movie) if anything goes without any punishment if you can live the same day over and over again?
There is a difference between Disney/Hulu versus Netflix doing it. Here is the difference, Netflix won. Disney is bleeding money like a siphon. I won’t be surprised if more aren’t driven to cancel it. People haven’t been that happy with the companies entertainment choices of late.
Netflix isn't doing as good as it once did. They treat the producers if it's animated shows like a used handkerchief, and Disney makes most. Of it's money from it's theme parks, so they'll be fine in the long run. Yeah, yeah, I know Fox Spews says that we're all supposed to hate Disney now because they have the gaul to embrace LGTBQ and ethnic diversity (treating everyone equally...EEEWW!!) /s Seriously, kill that far-right noise. Those of us who live in the real world aren't triggered by equality and just want to be entertained. Also, f*ck Fox News and f*ck Donald Trump.
And if course by "their entertainment choices of late" you mean how they have the gall to acknowledge women, non- white and LGTBTQIA+ people in a positive or prominent light. That rhetoric is just white noise that sane people tune out. The majority of the people being told to hate Disney are right wing bigots who couldn't afford them in the first place, so those people are irrelevant. Disney will be here long after their noise has subsided.
@@casperskyeWhy won’t the government put a price cap on theses conglomerates? COX Communications keeps raising their rates every year. I get sick of it.
Hulu? Hu cares! I cannot understand why they would even need to do this unless it is for live TV or something. I find nothing to watch on there. I have the ad supported version included with my phone plan and don't even see the point.
Question for Luke: what will happen to linear family channels like Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Disney Channel in the wake of cord cutting and streaming? Will they become strictly on-demand, become apps or will there be a synergy between the TV channels and their streaming/internet equivalents? What are your thoughts?
If you have disability you do not live alone , you have to live with some one else and this is a business and eve😂ry one have to pay for the service , if you can not afford , do not get it , is simple .
I saw a article that said they’re after our iPhone apps next, these companies want to charge us a separate membership just to use the app on our phones, i don’t know how they’ll do that.
Just so people know tiktok is the Juggernaut in the room it already makes more ad revenue then UA-cam. UA-cam is trying to take that back from tiktok that's why they started the shorts. But there's many companies competing in this space which, twitch looks like it's about to be the victim of bag decisions and probably will close down. Its owned by Amazon a company called Kick which is owned by casinos and has big money backing has took its marketplace , they are paying content creators big money. But no one stays on top forever and especially with an election year you'll see a big decline probably in this platform unfortunately.
I figured Hulu was having financial problems just like Disney and ESPN since they're all owned by the same people. The content just ain't very good. But yeah you always see them cracking down on password sharing when they are losing a lot of money. May work for a while but people are still going to be canceling over time because the content is not good and the content that's getting made now that will be out in 3 years is also terrible. Bob iger is the worst CEO ever in American history of any company. Like I have said many times the fry guy at McDonald's at any McDonald's any fry person could do a better job than Bob iger.
That new national streaming service with the localized features sounds interesting. It seems like the local broadcasters see the end of cable TV and are planning ahead to move their programming over to the internet/streaming as a way to mitigate the loss in retransmission fees. I wonder how they are going to work out the finances between large and small market station support for the overall platform, as I'd think some major market areas could develop their own streaming service and keep all the ad revenue for themselves. Something like a streaming platform for the Los Angeles area, one for NYC area, one for Chicago, and similar for other markets.
It's kind of like if you bought a laptop computer put a password on it then they decided who you could share the password with and let use it even after you've already paid for it This will really negatively affect certain places like schools too no more free days where a teacher let's u watch a movie on Friday even if its educational Or like a children's hospital this might prevent them from using a subscription in multiple patient rooms even if it paid by the hospital since they are large facilities connected together does this that count as multiple households buildings sharing a password or if different parts of the hospital are using the same account but not the same Wi-Fi then do would a hospital or school have to pay for 16 different Netflix accounts for each different medical floor or department I don't think this is fair to consumers or businesses that may use streaming services this could really effect whether teachers are able to use streaming even for educational purposes or nursing home facilities or daycares I don't even think that they're trying to stop people from password sharing really because that can already be prevented by other features they have where you can only watch on one screen at a time so even people u share it with can't use it all the time unless they pay more it's it's just about them getting people to pay more these companies and streaming services feel as though they are entitled to your money which is kind of ridiculous since now even Amazon prime and Netflix are making you pay for ads so they feel entitled to your money while also making money off of you with ads which just doesn't make sense why do you want to restrict password sharing if that's another consumer watching the ads you're getting paid to show just seems like they want to milk consumers for as much as they can regardless of whether or not it's fair they're entitled to your money so therefore you have to pay for them to make money off of selling you ads and pay for them to not let you use the account the way you want
This is 100% illegal. We should be allowed to do this password sharing should be allowed all over the entire world forever. We should never have to have password sharing crackdowns because there are people that don’t live with their family if they’re trying to force people to have us live with our families instead of living on our own we don’t have the kind of money to pay for those services, especially those they have low income. Those who add disabilities should never have to deal with us.

Not you shouldn't, some people have more than 2 homes.
I feel like, if I am paying for the service I should be able to share with who ever I want. Regardless if they live with me or not.
Don’t like Hulu at all. way to many ads!Had a low cost free trail for a year, guess since it’s owned by Disney should not be surprised. It’s cancelled.
Stop giving them your money!
I just got the email from Hulu and it said this would go into effect on March 14

If you feel that way, what's your password?
Hulu is a business I guess that's why.

Isn't the detection of password sharing a privacy issue though?
Yet our government does NOTHING about this and various issues. Not even republicans can fix this apparently.
